aw mhags poor dd2. I remember 3 years ago i came back from Pakistan with a horrid gastric bug, couldn't leave the house for 2 weeks, banned from the kitchen, but delighted i got my appetite back for xmas day
1) a lie in followed by a lovely bubble bath with a lush bath bomb from the girls (well a third, i am mse after all!)
2) finished one book and started another. i have trimmed one of the offcuts to sit nicely in front of the kitchen radiator and shared that with the dogs
3) smoked salmon on toast followed by a sad apple, stewed, very nice with some strawberry crunch and yoghurt
4) nice walk with dd2 and the dogs, one of whom is now sporting a christmas jumper (the other one hates being dressed up so he just has a bowtie on his collar)
5) ds arrived and he and dd2 have been playing computer games. lovely to hear them laughing (they're now 24 and 26) while i have been having a fab time rearranging the house. off to midnight mass in 50 minutes but thought i'd just take a moment to wish you all a peaceful Christmas.

Hello. Bedtime for me. Stockings are filled. We had a Christmas Eve box with nice new Jim jams and a few treats...my treat was new tea towels ...sad but true I do like a nice tea towel! Opened in front of a roaring fire ( not lit by me!)
Up early. And a lovely chat with my Melbourne girl for over an hour.
Then in to work . Kept busy enough without being rushed off my feet . Alright tips considering at 1pm there was £2 between three of us!
Finished an hour earlier than usual and it was still daylight!
Popped into supermarket and managed to get a few things very Rtc...squeezed into a very full freezer.
Home and the boy child was already in...he had to go into work for 2.5 hours this morning and said no-one did any work. What’s for Christmas Eve dinner asked he of me! Leftover lentil soup son and very nice it was too! Served with a very Rtc chocolate and orange cookie!
Had a FaceTime chat with GN...she is super excited for Santa coming. They’re all coming to us tomorrow.
Have a lovely day tomorrow. May it be all you want it to be and remember it’s just another day!
Son lit the fire. It was roasty-toasty. Watched soaps then came upstairs to pack stockings and climb wearily into bed.0 -
Tuesday pleasures,
A few errands to do in the morning, got through them quicker than we thought as everywhere seemed relatively quiet.
Popped in to see equine girlie, plenty of carrots and apples.
Afternoon spent baking including a new to me loaf recipe, treacle and cumin, oh my.
Sunset walk with beloved and small dog, much throwing of tennis balls.
Easy tea of ham, bread and salad.
Merry Christmas wishes to all my fellow 5 a day’ers, sending you oodles of peace and happiness.0 -
Pleasures for today (Christmas Eve)
1) Good to get up after a not very good sleep.
2) Hens well and I cleaned out their sleeping quarters.
3) My sister's for a buffet lunch. Food nice, swapped presents (hers to us and our to them!). Marred slightly by smaller son running in carrying her present (a bag of compost), falling over and landing on his phone and smashing it...
4) Took smaller son to Sainsbury's (his favourite place) and it wasn't particularly busy. Lots of YS so got all the chicken for the New Years Eve curry for £1.90 plus salmon also for the freezer and some packs of sandwiches at 49p!
5) Sons wanted Bombay potatoes for tea. They think these are some marvellous recipe that I have found but they're really the HM wedges I have always made, just with cardamom pods and chilli powder... Had those with chicken kievs and baked beans.
6) Had carols on Classic FM in the kitchen all evening.
7) Stockings are out. Just waiting for people to go to sleep...
ETA! 8) New Christmas Eve pyjamas for sons.

Merry Christmas to everyone. SuffolkSue, you are so right, Christmas dinner is just a Sunday roast with extra trimmings, and planning ahead will ensure it turns out ok. There are far more things to stress about in this world. This is my first Christmas since my husband died and it is so far a relaxed, chilled out affair.
Already had my first pleasure of the day - message from son holidaying in Thailand with his German friend and her family. They apparently had a fabulous German-style Christmas Eve.
When I get up (I'm lazing in bed listening to Radio 2) I will grab some breakfast, pour a glass of Bucks Fizz and open my presents.
I am sure there will be further pleasures in the day ahead. Despite difficult circumstances you can always find things to bring a smile and contentment.
May all your Christmases be merry and bright and roll on the new year and the new decade. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Merry Christmas all
Thinking of you Sue, and Nargle... It's a tough time for some, I hope you can both enjoy your days
Pleasures for yesterday
1. After a worrying 24 hours, my chest x ray was clear. Though I am still unwell and have been 'not well' since august. New antibiotics to try..
2. Finished my marking - or at least all of it that I can do (there may be one or two more before I am completely done with this batch)
3. A lovely afternoon of baking - mince pies (of course), sticky toffee for our pud today, and a requested batch of brownies. I also made marmalade (from a tin)
4. Out with friends for our traditional Christmas eve curry
5. Found the missing stocking filler for DD.
Truth to tell, I can't really believe it is Christmas day. I am going through the motions of course, but am not 'feeling' it at all...Hopefully next year when my stress is gone, I will have time to plan and enjoy it more.....
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
No pleasures. Santa forgot the train set again! Humph!
No hang on?
BoPsie is here. She survived cancer, again!0
