loving the 2020 thread mrsmotivated trying to come up with one related to reducing my mortgage and wondering if £20 per day would be a good challenge or just too far...
1) walked to cathedral with dd2. she was meeting ds to go christmas shopping, i was playing 4 parts (Herod's butler, Herod, a priest and someone from Life of Brian) in the nativity. phew
2) then setting up for tonight's carol service. happy to host lunch for 5 as it meant i got a lift home and they brought the pizza
3) 2 went as choir needed to be back by 3 then us 3 left walked the dogs
4) then back to the cathedral for an absolutely packed house for the carols. i had to keep getting more chairs! i was coordinating the refreshments afterwards which is always a bit of a challenge a) knowing how many will stay b) how many will want alcoholic v. non alcoholic mulled wine c) how you get the heated stuff to the front in candlelight before the service ends but not so as to disturb the service
5) now home, absolutely bushed. Glad i haven't got work tomorrow though carpet fitters are set to arrive at 8am. Right, quick walk of the dogs then bed! currently rereading Jennings - an absolute laugh out loudMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Also just in from church DD we were at our christingle service which as always is lovely.
Woke at 4.15 with the world spinning ! That would be blooming labyrinthitis that I have neither time nor need for! That’s probably my reason for feeling out of sorts last night.
DD2 took me to Lidl then Tesco. Not particularly for Christmas stuff more meals for week ahead.
The niecelys had arrived when we were out. Had a snacky lunch .
Then we went down the woods and said hello to OH’s tree and polished his name plaque on the big board of names.
Back home. Kind of help yourself to leftovers from lunch kind of tea then out we went.
Nice service.0 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday).
1) A lie in.
2) Phone call from my school friend who will be coming for lunch tomorrow.
3) Hens OK.
4) Added a few more beads to crochet wreaths.
5) Bigger son went for a bike ride through the forest with his friends. He then returned and made the tea - lamb curry from his Takeaway Secret recipe book.
6) Have been watching tv in front of the stove this evening. Looking forward to Top Gear next week which was filmed in Nepal.0 -
Good Morning,
Enjoying the early morning calm.......
1. BoP breakfast here too! Ate while watching for birds using my bird feeders, but they seem to have forgotten us. ☹️
2. Trip to Mr T with coupon. Managed to buy more Christmas food and topped up to required amount of spend for the coupon with Food Bank items........we have decided to donate to the food bank instead of sending cards at work, but we will donate in January.
3. Spent the afternoon making veggie curries for a Turkey free dinner for family and friends. Used my new food warmer thingy. Could do with being bigger, but still useful.
4. Booked tickets to for Christmas Eve film. Planned Christmas meals. Invited for NYE to friends house. 🙂
5. DD helped clear up after the meal.........do we think she has overheard me grumbling to OH about the lack of help from all our grown up children?
Have a lovely day 🙂0 -
Sunday pleasures,
A noise from downstairs woke me at just gone 5, no getting back to sleep so early morning cuppa and small dog cuddles.
Long leisurely bath, coffee and book balanced on bath tidy.
Watching Olympia, horses and dogs so what’s not to like, loved how in the dog agility classes it was the WC Spaniels that got so excited they lost their way, yep that’s our house most days!
Toasted fruity sourdough, may be a little bit addicted.
Staying up to watch Love Actually, has to be done at least once over Christmas.0 -
Hugs and strength Sue, Mhags & Nargle.
Glad your pets give you lots of joy.
1. Shortest day gone, Yay!
2. Nice meal and drinks at the weekend with friends.
3. Breakfast at niece's. She is 28. Where did that time go??
4. Got my brave t shirt on (and disposable gloves) to put bait in the boxes for any rats still lingering. Small part of me upset at this but cannot have them near the house.
5. Suprise gift from Big boss of a bottle of Gin.0 -
:heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls There, enuff for those in need!
Not wasting holiday this time of year! Bitter end it is with BoP!
Nows yous know sthat BoP harks on and on and on and on and on and on abouts tat inn the emporiums! Just what can I say when the shelves are stacked high and sold cheap. Most do not check where their charity goes. Nows yous no needs for me to say I told you so? I ponder how many of the names token tuppences charity don’t take their money because of where the card was made. As I has said before and last year. Buy from the charity direct. BoP always sends RAFBF cards knowing that at the cost of a pint I help my ex comrades!
Good to see that the snorkers and best backs are being tried and tasted out there. Please remember that snorkers do not need blankets!
Onto the best bits of your BoP lunch Bites today!
Did the gammon yestday for the yule festival. Boiled and glazed inn honey mustard. Decent food was detected by Raffles who was most up onto the drawline inn the scullery as BoP sharpened his carving knife on the steel. Raffles is very particular about his joinst!
Packed inn toodays lunch box is some pie of pork, a bun with some honey glazed ham. Some regular pie of pork. No cakes of Jaffa, clubs, penguins or proper digestive are inn the lunch box this weak. They be all full price inn emporium due to punters.
Watched another flix of the net last eve, well that is too this weakened. Upside and then My super Ex Girlfriend. Makes Jaws look positively tame!
PM2DD We is doomed! A rudderless ship sailing into oblivion. And to end it all, some commotion as well. Must say that on the forum of the fish, the near centurion, alleged, would had still had the courage to raise not a finger but a handful and land one!
I hear the sheep have a #MEETOO movement in Wales?
Now that bee it for Lunch Bites from the mill for this year. Although BoP is inn the morning, he will only be hosing his shovel down and damping down the furnaces.
If you put the sprouts on now, they’ll be done for xmas!0 -
Artnoon
For yesterday
1. Echoing Juliettet's joy that the shortest day has gone
2. Managed a short circuit that started in sunshine and ended in sleet in about 20 mins! Unfortunately my washing was out but at least it got a blow
3. Train was the quietest I've ever known
4. OH had cooked turkey for dinner (we're having beef christmas day)
5. His Dark Materials...:T
Have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Yes DundeeDoll the 2020 thread is fab, why not try to throw £20 off the mortgage on 20 days a month if £20 a day is to challenging. Whatever you decide, I'll be cheering you on.
Today's pleasures
1. The dreaded food shop is over, it was manic with shelves emptying very quickly, but it's done and I got home in one piece despite accidentally walking into a full blown prawn war incident, with 2 woman about to get physical over the last pack of prawns
2. On the grounds I'm going to be cooking for the best part of the next 3 days, Mr M is buying us all a Chinese for dinner tonight :T
3. Dogs walked and groomed, looking all smart now
4. Popped into see a friend, coffee, cake and books exchanged. So looking forward to some new reading material.
5. Watched the first part of The Chistmas Carol miniseries last night and looking forward to part 2 later tonight.Well Behaved women seldom make history
Early retirement goal... 2026
