  • I’m not going to lie I’m a bit gutted, we found “the place over in the west, the house. We had plans on how to fix the driveway, we were besotted and it went today. We have faith it wasn’t meant to be, “I guess” but we’ve been keeping an eye out for a year and fell for this one hard. Onwards.

1 We both have what seems to be a cold, so relaxed and watched a Christmas movie in the middle of the day, with a mince pie of course.

2 Errands washing loads, drying, clean bedding.

3 For the first time in 19 years we treated the fuzzies to a new cat scratch post, the Range had one on black Friday offer and now they are all enjoying them both, as the old 19 year old one that has been fixed each year is also still here they use it to get in and out of their cage.

4 Wrapped and sorted the return of a not quite right thing.

5 Cumberland snorkers, egg, beans and chips.

    Hello.

Been a day of catching up on chores. Floors are clean. Bathrooms are clean. Bedding was changed. Trying to get washing dried.

Builder came. He is just the biggest twerp ever. Window continues to leak ( huge feature window takes up most of back wall.) bits that need doing for completion still not done. He has the most pathetic excuses ...everyone else to blame but him. He was supposed to come at 3pm . Emailed at 11 to see if he could come at 12, I picked up the email at 11.40. Then I got a voicemail (oddly phone never rang) saying he’d sent me an email , was just going to head up for 12 and if I wasn’t in would just see if I’d left a door open! What?? I’m not actually in the habit of leaving the house unlocked! And he never arrived until 12.40pm. I’m Seriously p’d off!

Anyway I have a tidier house...if not a house with a completion certificate!

    Nice chat with DD1.

Brought my outdoor tree indoors. Decided to go for it...will decorate it tomorrow as long as my room is not filled with beasties!

Had a go at scrubbing the garden slabs. I need a hose but I reckon it will clean up.

    Started watching The Slap.

Had a very tasty tea. Cooked diced beef and very Rtc sausages (20p) in slow cooker. Made a steak pie and served with potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots.

Also made just two little mince pies (only me that likes them) and cut out some shapes for freezer.

Enjoyed just being me and my doggy today. Although he’s been a sofa surfer most of the day! Lazy bones.

I don't know about tree beasties, MHags. My house is 180 years old and unheated so we already have millipedes, silver fish, beetles, woodworm, spiders and a huge quantity of slugs. And green, pink and black mould.

    Pleasures for today (Monday).

    1) Not a bad sleep in our hotel room.

    2) Cooked breakfast plus croissants.

    3) Went to the Football Museum but smaller son's legs were hurting after yesterday (the muscles are too tight up the back of his legs - no one knows why - so he had aggravated this during our long walk).

    4) Train home much better!

    5) Made roast chicken for tea with potatoes, sweet pots, carrots, parsnips, peas and stuffing.

    6) Watched I'm a Celebrity.

    7) In bed now! Back to invigilating tomorrow.

    Monday pleasures,

Very cold and frosty, crunchy grass on first dog walk.

Over to see girlie, decided to do some pole work but she was distinctly uninterested and did her best Kevin the teenager act, not listening to me, straining to see where her friends were in the paddocks, not naughty as such just a bit CBA. Rugged her up and put her back in field where she skipped away like a child let out of school!

There’s a robin who keeps us company in the stable courtyard, he was sat on my grooming box yesterday chirping away.

A spinach & mushroom baked thing for tea.

Uni Challenge and the video watching students got through, Paxman can be so condescending at times!
  • Good too see the snorkers hitting so many plates!

    Better than the hunting gorilla!

    Now where was BoP.

At mill again and to be honest it is wind down this weak! They can be done with the furnace as well! All is ready for the next BoP on Tour. Starts Saturday, early!

Oh and the lunch box today has sour grapes, and too smoked cheese! And the usuals.
Inn the gym later to be beach ready for the BoP Tour. Then home to a burger, homemade and not like that carp at the food fast joint!

Be case packing later for the BoP Tour.

And again I knows a bit short!
You always chase the rainbow, but it was only an illusion!

    2. SOup for lunch - quick and filling and warming cos we were freezing
    3. Managed to do some marking
    4. Vegetable (low carb) pasta with bolognaise for a quick tea
    5. Off to the cinema to see the concert streaming of Les Mis… I'm not the biggest fan of Les Mis but enjoyed it..

    Pleasures the past few days....

Walks during cold, frosty weather, seeing a coating of frost on everything. Frosted rose hips looked especially pretty.

Brilliant winter sunshine during the frosty days lifting the mood.

Remainder of Eve's pudding for dessert tonight with cream.

Really busy day at work yesterday, but with a good team on shift we got through it in solidarity and with humour.

Exercise session at the gym this morning listening to good music on Smooth radio.

Little treats from the Advent calendar - a small scented candle, a body spray, handcream. All things I will use.

A little tabby and white kitten curled up on the bed, purring fortissimo.

lovely to go away but now lovely to be home
    1) chaos on the railways. fortunately mum and i had left plenty of time, which meant, when we found our train and the next one were both cancelled, we could go from manchester picadilly to victoria. even more chaos but managed to get the late scarborough train which should have started at the airport but started at victoria so we got seats
    2) the conductor was lovely - so calm and helpful, apologetic in a good humoured way.
    3) york with time for a cuppa before our very nearly on time LNER. 1st class so we would have been doubly miffed if we'd missed that (we'd booked that part separately so would have had to stump up for an on-the-day ticket). the woman next to us managed to get on with 90 seconds to spare.
    4) lovely food, lovely chat. have saved the egg sarnie for my tea which i will eat while listening to the archers
    5) walked home instead of bus and wombled 20p :D then walked the dogs, emptied the dishwasher, opened the post (3 xmas presents which i got with the rest of my mr a voucher have arrived)
so plans for tonight - piano, supper, run bath, unpack, have bath, bed

    Bedtime!

A decent sleep by my poor standards.

    Laundry caught up with.

Lovely doggy walk this morning and then met a friend I’ve not seen for a while this afternoon so walked with her for a bit...until Mr H had done his business! He just wants to sniff every leaf.

Went to supermarket for dog food & loo roll. Then did a shop for food bank.

Painted my wooden stepping stool same colour as dining room wall. Moved Christmas tree on top & decorated that this afternoon. Always emotional. Too many memories.

    Back massage. Ooh aah ouch.

Floral workshop to make wreath. Went au naturelle with it this year. Dried orange & lotus pods.

Whilst there DD2 called. Suspension gone on her new car...not much I could do! Literally 5 minutes later DD1 called. Her sore foot was very sore what should she do? Can your mother not have a wee night out ? But I suppose it’s nice they call me!

Home! To car drama and much admiring of my tree & my wreath. Tomorrow is another day!
