  • Morning all, been MIA as life has been uber busy of late.

    1) Frosty mornings where the back lawn is white and so are the shed roofs.

    2) DD1 and baby came over on the bus for the first time yesterday and we had a nice day together, small one is blooming like a little flower and more alert and active every time we see her.

    3) Going for a nice woodsy walk with Molly dog and her mum this morning then back for coffee to her house.

    4) We took Grandpickle 1 to the theatre last Friday and had him here for the weekend which was such fun.

    5) Going to repeat the theatre trip with Grandpickle 2 next Friday and he'll have his very first night away from home with us o Thursday night, looking forward to that very much.

    Afternoon all

Hello Roger:wave: You be a good little bean and no furniture scratching.

Like the sound of your gloves Frith. Isn't it great when a plan comes together?

I love that time in the morning too BBB

Pleasures for yesterday and today so far:
    • Beautiful sunny morning this morning
    • Managed to get oodles of Morrie's points by crafty shopping again, resulting in another £5 off voucher to come and 85 pts away from a second voucher.
    • Popped into a charity shop and found two Stephen King's I hadn't read for £1 and a new microwave heating cover for a plate for 50p. Splatter no more!
    • Used my (recently put together) price book to deduce the Black Friday bulk deals per kg on various beef products in Lidl were not much different from the usual deals I get there and elsewhere so saved myself some money NOT shopping there.
    • DH, me and Miss Fluffy all curled up together last night in bed with the heated blanket on watching a horror film on the TV.
    • Got all of MIL's xmas shopping done for her online in one fell swoop in an hour.
    • Getting half our monthly phone + broadband package refunded by BT because we were without both for five days this month. We didn't even have to ask
    • Lovely hot shower this morning.
    • Very quiet workday

Hello. I don’t like the dark but I do like this time of day as it’s dusk and sun setting. Sitting in the extension looking out my huge big window . Heatings on. Candles are lit and it’s cosy. It’s been a very cold day and frost didn’t lift on the side of road sun doesn’t get to.

We were up early ( after the most rubbish of sleeps) to go to city.

Popped in to a doughnut cafe that does the most amazing doughnuts. Had a peppermint tea and may have had a doughnut.

DD2 bought a new coat and used her student card to get discount. It’s a lovely big fluffy one...told her not to leave it near Hag or hell schnooky on it.

I got a couple of things in Laura Ashley in the sale. Things I’d actually liked at full price but wouldn’t pay for.

Out to hospital for what we thought was a decision making appointment ( DD needs hip surgery) but he wanted a second opinion as it’s an unusual condition...so still we wait! Both a bit gutted as I think we were both gearing up mentally for him to say yep, I’ll do it. And all that that entails. So we left rather deflated but had a rather nice soup and roll for lunch.

Sat on the top deck of bus ( not out of choice) on way back to city and my what a lovely view and a lovely little boy singing .

Home on another bus, saw a kestrel on a fence post and a skein of geese overhead. Stunning countryside. And a daughter snuggled in to me .

Home and quick walk with doggy. Then I’ve been pottering around. Trying to catch up with washing . Not done any in 2 days! Shocking for me ! Last two nights I’ve been in bed at 7pm. Hopefully stay up later tonight!

Not sure what we’ll do for tea. DD snoozing and DS up a snowy mountain.

    Have a nice night :)

  • Bala, ah the wonder of our animals, the vet once told us the overall amount we had spent on the animals over the years. It’s 5 figures.

1 DH went to doctors and they are moving him through processes. Then we travelled 2 hours for vet meds for 2 months and £60 later.
2 DH somehow decided he actually wanted to shop the “black Friday” sale, I checked and double checked as neither of us gets on with crowds so off we went, it was bedlam. We stopped for a tea before tackling it, ironically it was DH who couldn’t cope, not helped by some a lot of very arrogant people. But we got through it. We didn’t part with anything other than 5 pounds for a massohive Christmas cake that I have no idea what to do with as we have made our own already.

3 We disappeared away from the chaos into the dunelm caf!, and decided we must have excellent taste as the things we have tagged that we both have wanted for a long time now are not in sales.
4 We went back to C0stco purely for a tea and to order a pizza.
5 Back to animal snuggies, feels like we were missed.

    Pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) At work 8.30 - 2.30ish.

    3) Had a good clean of the living room when I got home, changed 1 bunkbed, did a load of washing etc.

    4) Chips from the van for tea.

    5) Picked bigger son up from work. Stopped at Sainsburys on the way and picked up some more stocking fillers. Pretty much there now and have also bought the chocolate coins and the Christmas Eve pyjamas. Apart from that, have only bought niece's Christmas presents - no one else's yet!

    6) Watched I'm a Celebrity.

Getting close to our Man Utd trip now!
  • Morning PK

Yep....my huge credit card debt is mostly to do with the dogs and in some part for my car. The pump for the steering went a month after I bought it. No way that it could have been predicted.

I have learnt my mistakes with t!he choices I made with insurance companies. Murphy was 10 weeks when we got him..... So all you see is youth and health. 14 years down the line and you are dealing with cancer. I did my best to keep him with me involving homeopathy with the vets. Cooked most of his food. Read everything I could. But in the end had to let him go. Worst day of my life.

Tiggy back at vets yesterday as her left eye keeps closing. Another 62 pounds but at least the 'leaking' has slowed down and she is more comfortable. Also can hear the washing machine thanking me for leaving it alone. Tee-hee

So the greatest gratitude for the 15 years of Murphy. I swear he was a gift from God or the world...he was the only thing I ever wanted as a child,....... Just had to wait until I was a lot older.

Still loving those early hours of quiet.

Snuggled under duvet, on the couch with Tiggy and hot water bottle. Will have to get up now as she needs shower and medications. Eye ointment will be the struggle...

    Have a lovely day everyone,....

Especially to all the dogs, cats, ferrets and horses

Lovely posts everyone, thank you x

    Pleasures for Wednesday

    1. Lunch with friend
    2. Cracking on with the marking
    3. OH had a consultant's appointment but nothing to worry about :T
    4. Finished a second edit of my chapter - needs more
    5. Symphony orchestra again - we had 'suprise' seats. You pay an amount but don't know where your seats are till you get there. we paid £13 and seats were in the stalls :T

    And Thursday

    1. Good walks to and from stations
    2. Teaching went ok - or at least the lecture did. Seminar less so as I couldn't get their attention. Their internet wouldn't load the document needed to answer questions so I will need to rethink that process for another time
    3. Started Christmas shopping - 2 chocolate oranges :rotfl:
    4. Out with the girls - had steak and salad which was nom
    5. low carbing is working - lost 2lb this week :T

    and yesterday

    1. Train to ICT was deserted :T
    2. Beautiful crisp air, sunshine and blue sky
    3. Did a circuit by the sea
    4. OH cooked salmon and veg, preceded by a prawns in chilli and garlic starter
    5. Watched a film together - Charlie Wilson's war on Netflix (which will now appear as a suggestion on your Netflix page, if you have it :rotfl: We were merely talking about the film "Rush" yesterday and it appeared.... Coincidence? Or not?)

Back home today - we came to check the house and warm it up - and do a circuit by the sea. Another is planned for this morning.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

It’s lovely to read how many of the pleasures are down to our animal companions.

    For yesterday,

Side still sore so moving slowly, now wondering if I pinged something humping bags of chaff and carrot nets around.

Went to butchers in village for snorkers and picked up a couple of rtc bargains in the Co-op.

Saw my girlie, she fell asleep in a sunny spot as I groomed her so sent picture to friend.

Home and realised nothing in cake tins so baked some sultana scones, obviously quality control was required so had one warm with a cuppa,

A stunning sunset and we’d had enough sunlight for the solar lights in the garden to work for a while,
  • Hello Lainey

Your horse (Lulu ?) Puts me in mind of a character in 'Black Beauty '

Will have to read it again as memory is hazy......
