  • Abject apologies :( I have not posted for nearly 3 months  Not that I haven’t had lots of pleasures - just been a lazy c*w :o I have been reading along though ;)

    In no particular order

4 day trip to Wales - completed the Round Britain Rally - pictures posted & DH will get his 100% All Rounder Trophy :j

New great great niece - she is a cutie & so laid back she is almost comatose :rotfl: All Hans knitted items delivered - mittens, cardigan, matinee coat, baby blanket & the 28 year old christening gown (knitted in 2 ply wool )

New patio, front path & front doorstep - works of art :rotfl:

DH has been busy with various projects - have a fully restored & painted corn grinder which DH has affixed to a hand built stool - it now has pride of place on the new patio :D, a fully restored coffee grinder - which is so beautiful we might just keep it :rotfl:, a pillar drill which has almost been restored to its former glory - will be sold. DH has also built a garden hose box with a planter in the lid :T

    Garden coming along nicely.

Mostly Decent weather over the last 3 months :D

Resident foxes have been busy - 3 dead rats :T:T

First visit to L*dl - fruit & vegetables look a lot fresher than MrA ;)

    Celebrated our 27th Anniversary

Our close is looking a lot better since I started my ‘community service’ :rotfl::rotfl: Have been weeding kerbside, pavements (188 paving slabs ) & clearing moss & weeds from footpaths & driveways - not just ours :rotfl: + DH has pruned (with permission :p) one side of the 60+ foot tree that is blighting our lives :(

Have been cooking lots of fancy meals with sauces & touch wood no failures :T

All my hm soups have been rather tasty & gradually emptying the kitchen freezer - it really does need defrosting :o

    Dividend payments received

Long & chatty phone calls with DB - he is mellowing as he gets older :rotfl:

Plenty of wildlife - both at home & in the dock.

    Today’s pleasures so far
    1. The sun has come out after torrential rain all morning :T:T
    2. DH is on the last stages of his ‘pillar drill’ restoration :D
    3. Hm soup
    4. My beautiful bouquet 💐

I will try to do better ;)

    Hope Bopsie is feeling better.

Shambles back in, wheezing. (Don't beat yourself up, Mrs SD!)

Those OS pleasures er, in the last few days/weeks [must try harder!]
Aldi tayberries & loganberries bought & planted on in pots of compost, then lived in Belfast sink & watered. Jam future hopes! [presently being watered by the rain]

Further watering of car boot blueberries, as along from newly potted holes.

Bunting fluttering to celebrate the arrival of MrsLW’s latest grandchild, the lovely Frieda!

Met the engineer’s pal & asked how his life was doing, now the engineer’s away studying - turns out he’s waiting to hear if he’s been accepted into the police force. Verily they Are getting younger every year but I think this lad has mix of friendly & husky that could make an excellent copper. Plus if it doesn’t pan out, he can cook - I’m certain his future will appreciate him! [Turned down as too young, gone to work as a packer and age a bit.]

Aldi have new bags - with glorious Hibernian humour. Not having sons with me, I acquizzed happily without the sigh of “she’s at it again”...

Oh the irony - tyre flat & as son calls a taxi, his bus sails past us...

Work laptop rebuilding itself with copious restarts required. I don’t think it realised it’s in my kitchen & I know where the sharp things are.

Had an email offering “stallion disinfectant”, blinked a bit, Googled & reckon the lads’ rooms aren’t quite that severe, but good to know.

You do *wonder* about popping back to specsavers when something on the kitchen floor might be a bit of bacon or it might be red onion skin. Mother of sons Logic was clear - could only be onionskin, & so it was.

Ah. Front passenger suspension fritzed. My car, with only months to live, is dying expensively...

Awww - the baby zebra with a melanin problem & thus Spots! There’s a pattern to baffle the rocking horse painters then...

Wow what a combination - white haired man on horse, dog perched on the pommel, man with reins in hand & pipe in teeth. Truly a shining example in living on your own terms & growing old with style!

Bumped into a book on Ghenkis Khan & flicked through - I’d forgotten his mother had the raising of him & his views that women were silly etc only by learning same from their husbands & as the chaps would be away fighting marrying a robust housekeeper & determined hanger onto your winnings (rather than some floozy) made sense!

Oh I say. Booths seem not to do their own label chocolate bars any more. Dash. Still do the free coffee though!

Blackbird landed on a branch tip & managed on hold on as it bounced up & down under the load - amusing to watch!

Son about to donate platelets - but before I explode with pride, he has forgotten to eat breakfast, take Any multivite, or bring a belt for his trousers. So the glovebox graze box has been wolfed, chased with a can of Max, & a bag for life is torn & twined around his middle with a rubber band connecting the two ends.... (He comes to this engineering lark reasonably!)

“Strong. Powerful. Feminine. And that’s just the bottle.” - I could almost go buy whatever it’s selling! Almost...

The equinox. Time for me to accept that from now til next year I will likely see my sons largely by artificial light. Also to go recheck the blackberry bushes!

Loving pa returning from the school run, with a jaunty Disney Princess child’s brolly sheltering his head & a pink scooter over one DPM clad shoulder.

“Argh, countries with segregation of women are right!” Youngest is ticklish...

MPs return & first on the agenda I see are “Prayers”. Pretty fervent I would expect, as well as the wording including “May they never lead the nation wrongly through love of power, desire to please, or unworthy ideals” but on the feet - originating from when it would have been tricky to kneel wearing a sword. Currently monotheistic Christian but a definite back under starter’s (or possibly Speaker’s) orders.

Some days our family meet up like a spy movie, arranged by message & at short notice. This time to hand over Denby so they could continue their days unburdened....

The Tesco cheap Jacks experiment locally is closing & it will be restored to a real Tesco once again in time for Christmas. Meanwhile, I think I’ll do a “farewell tour” of their spice collection as no one else has Ras el hanout (& other intriguing spice blends) so affordably. [Done, and structure justabout still standing.]

Ooh-kay, there *were* such things as dance class ships (& insect class gunboats). I’m not wholly sold I want to believe but I’m sure someone serving aboard HMS Morris Dancer had to live it down.

Miword. I do like a Goth who is prepared to spend serious money - her black velvet coat had a stunning shawl collar & was tailored with skirts full enough to flare at even a minor corner. Awed, at the tailoring, the laundry & the generously beautiful impracticality.

Ah, Scouts. Unsuspected depths of (largely benevolent) sadism revealed when various scout leaders count burpees & star jumps in 30 seconds.... Scouts still bounced out, & we staggered a bit. [Parents groused - the little dears Weren’t Tired a bit!]

Spirited debate as to whether a strawberry trifle for breakfast counts as one of your five a day. The Young Male can have intriguing & vehemently held beliefs!

Y’know how some days you Wonder about young people? Youngest did not empty a bin as no replacement bin bags. Emergency is duly raised. Dutifully I bought more, and lugged them home & put them in the proper place [you guessed it] right on top of an existing roll....

Child has drawn me a birthday card & father looked & said “that’s the sign of the zodiac killer” - well, almost, but it’s a pretty try....

Offspring was gently swatted on a knee “Ow” “it’s one knee!” “That’s where I keep both my knees” (well that explains much)

Penguins are “little stubby torpedoes” according to my beloved family. The silence after indicated they were looking my way....

Halifax having some academic event on - why do the children wear their hoods So Badly? Chap rocked his Elizabethan bonnet with proper sub fusc suit.

Happy cries of “ooh that E boat, that’s beautifully done!” - my birthday does not interfere with Important Things.

DundeeDoll the idea of an Aunt who wouldn’t die is both delightful & terrifying (my lot would have pegged Wodehouse to the tea table & corralled his Aunts somewhere humane - I adored them but was largely a Good Girl around them!)

Yeay, got my 'flu jab. A strange pleasure but knowing the future cold cannot go Really Nasty without going pneumonia is oddly comforting.

“But it was working, why change it?” Oh my husband & delight of my eyes, you really have No Clue about the technology industry....

I misheard Pritti Patel who “passed the goats of Parliament”.

Health strength love & courage to all as have need, Reliable HWBs likewise and may all struggling find that extra bit of puff. Especially in any Rugby contexts...

Hello and then it was dark by 7.30pm. Just like that but what a beautiful sunset. Just nipped out with the recycling and oooh it’s nippy!

And just like that it’s October. September was a quick one.

Walk to work. Blooming cold wind .

    Work was okay.

Walk home was nice, sun was out but think you’d term the air as ‘brisk’

Grabbed my much better dog and we went down to the allotment. Down for about an hour. Trimmed the pumpkin leaves to allow some more light into the three little pumpkins. Lifted the sweet peas but I still have some wildflowers growing. Picked a few apples.

Home. And then the chap from building warrant department at council turned up ( off the cuff and er do you have ID? ) and my extension has not passed completion and I didn’t know whether to cry or swear and I think I did well not to do either.

Went to supermarket. Had chicken Kiev for tea and mash and peas.

Good news, BoP, definitely time to crack open the wobbleades!

Pleasures yesterday and today - good exercise session at gym, lovely walks with dog. Magnificent haul of acorns from a massive oak tree, to form part of my autumn decor. Acorns signify abundance and prosperity.

Pizza and salad yesterday, lamb curry today. Home cooked food (although not the pizza, sadly!) Shopping today, fridge, freezer and cupboards full of good things. Treated myself to a posh palette of eyeshadows - it's years since I bought warpaint!

Washing dried outside on the line. Decluttering done.

Received in the post two posh journals purchased from a friend, top quality, things of beauty. One will be a Christmas gift for a lucky person, the other I will keep to record all interesting stuff I have learnt.

Excellent, enjoyable session at Rock Choir yesterday. I am taking the plunge and performing with them at the cathedral in December.

Finally sold my deceased OH's car so can pay off his loan and put a few thousand into savings. Another loose end tied up, another chapter closed.
