  • Bop, oh bother hope they are able to help rather quickly.
DD nice to read your pleasures, possibly the only example I know of where it's amicable.

    For yesterday
1 Grilled bacon roll for brekkie, ah Sunday tradition.
2 I started sorting through some inherited bits, some bits are in use daily, others have made it to the front room where it never gets seen again, so time for a sort. I have a to do list for tomorrow to full 2 bin bags full of things for CS. I have taken a second look and think I may be brave and pass the lot on.
3 We’ve been working in the kitchen DH has been putting finishing touches, 2 cabinets back up and one side complete he’s found some ikea lights in the garage he’s currently measuring up the kickboards to plan where to put them.
4 I took the easy way out with food tonight, a couple of slices of pizza each from the freezer, well via the oven.

    For today
1 Up early and got some kitchen bits listed for sale, all sold pending collection tomorrow.
2 My interview went really well, 2ND stage coming up over the next couple of weeks.
3 Helped dh run wires for the lights in the kitchen and take down units.
4 I pondered over what to do for food, and ended up making up a veg pasta bake, not the first time a pasta bake gets me out of the what to cook recipe.
5 Popping to Mr T later hoping for a few rtc’s
  • Belated happy birthday elder son of Frith!
ampersand, somehow FB has decided I am in the Rugby demographic (?!) & I have to say I am much impressed with Romain Poite who appears to be umpiring with much grace.
mhagster, welcome home, {{{hugs}}} and hoping Haggis recovers soon.
DundeeDoll, much smitten (and slightly spooked) by the idea of Aunts who will not die - all mine are/were robust strongminded souls and the thought of some of them NotDead is disconcerting. (The still-alive ones I live a strategic few counties away from.)

Alas RL now Demanding attention, but All strength to all as have need!

    Hello. Bedtime.

A misty walk to work this morning. Big jumper on.
A sunny walk home from work...big jumper in bag.
Popped into friends house to say a quick hello ...90 minutes later I left. Lovely to see her.

The bit in between was alright.

Cut grass. A bit damp but it’s done.

Library bus came. Two back. Three out.

Made a lovely steak pie for tea with roast potatoes, sprouts, peas & carrots.

Dog a bit better so held off going to vets.

Stayed dry. Washing out not quite dry but finished off on radiators.

Pirate Pete hope tomorrow goes okay. Hope spots are nothing serious.

    Hope Bopsie is feeling better.

DD - excellent to remain on good terms.

    Pleasures for today (Monday).

    1) Not a bad sleep. Woke up to the bed being rather damp and spent several hours pondering if I had somehow mysteriously caught cellulitis like bigger sons had (with his night sweats). Then realised I had gone to sleep with a very slightly leaky hot water bottle!!

    2) Managed just over 2 hours more voting work between torrential rain showers.

    3) Had a cup of tea in our favourite caf! while bigger son took his electrical exam (left over from last academic year - he missed some exams as he was in Nepal). He knows his scores immediately as they are all on the computer and failed by 4% so will need to retake.

    4) Hens OK.

    5) Eagle eyed readers may remember bigger son's school bus setting on fire about 2 years ago. (It burned to a crisp just outside the pavilion where my brother plays tennis). Today the bus from bigger son's high school again caught on fire and burned to a crisp in the entrance to the Forestry Commission, 200 metres away from the last burning! They really are a terrible company, always breaking down and late (and setting on fire).

    6) Had smaller son's favourite tea - pasta with salmon and peas.

    7) Enjoyed watching Stupid Man, Smart Phone, which was much funnier and more charming than it sounds.

    8) Spent some time starting to set my mortgage account up online. Need the passwords or whatever through the post now. Hopefully this will spur me on to pay off the capital as and when I can and watch the balance fall.

Can't remember if I mentioned in previous posts, but the MSE email said you could get a free Lego advent calendar if you signed up to Topcashback. Did that and the calendar is on the way and I will give it to small niece.
  • A couple more
    1) journey all went smoothly. bag was small enough for flybe (unlike some of my poor fellow travellers who had to pay £50 if it didn't fit in the measure
    2) ate packed lunch on plane and drank water i'd refilled at edinburgh
    3) hotel is lovely - bed is 6' wide! (think how many spaniels i'd be able to fit in!)
    4) supper very nice. took a book to read
    5) then went to the bar for a large red and watched man u v. arsenal. was good to watch some quality footie (though it was very very wet) where i didn't really mind who won
Right, early start tomorrow, better get some shut eye

  • Sorry not many pleasures at the moment ,but I must surely find some .

1 DGS 2 with the Rheumatic Fever has improved greatly now he's having treatment and the heart damage isn't as bad as feared and might improve further (I am still fuming a with hospital who failed to follow up quickly and b with DSand DiL who didn't push things enough .ive been saying all summer that he had RF ,he wouldn't be rare having all the symptoms if they'd all gone their acts together earlier ) rant over

2 supportive friends ,it's amazing how those you think will fade away and others are more so.

3 DH ,who keeps his sense of humour ,he is fully aware of what is happening to him ,only occasionally gets upset ,I worry he's too placid (wrong word) at times

    4 mostly good drying weather

    5 your pleasures

    Suffolksue hugs.

    1. Was organised enough the morning to put the slow cooker on. Came home to the smell of beef stew. It is worth the effort first thing in the morning.

    2. Work was good. Managers were either away or at another site. It makes such a difference to the atmosphere.

    3. Another new person started. At the moment we are virtually fully staffed on the clinical side! About 6 hours of maternity leave aren't covered. It won't be long before someone else leaves!

    4. Relaxed evening. Needed it to recharge.

    5. Phone call with a friend.
  • Tea, particularly the first cup of the day!

A visit from my copper headed granddaughter and her parents yesterday, she's beginning to open up like a little flower and lose the 'newborn look'.

Swedish meatballs and cream sauce for supper last night, yum!

Freedom of thought, freedom of expression and freedom of speech some of the most important things we have in our lives.

Loyalty of friends, to be treasured and the knowledge of how totally lucky I am to have them in my life.

Oh Frith how scary on yet another bus fire, bad luck to eldest.
Ha ha DD love the spaniel measure for beds.
All get well wishes to Bopsie.

    Monday pleasures,

Capt S on hols so had breakfast out, toasted snorker sarnie for me, full English for him, good chat about some work concerns he has.

Left him to visit beautiful grey one, she is shedding like mad so grooming her is like being in the middle of a snowstorm!

My own small spaniel dog had a visit from her second favourite female, my pal who has her own dog grooming business, she happily disappeared into her van for an hour and came out looking & smelling fab.

The sunny and relatively day turned into heavy rain, not complaining as in desperate need, just not all at once.

Such a dark dismal evening was worthy of candles being lit and a bowl of pasta bake.

    Monday pleasures:

    1) Finally booked flooring installation for living room. Carpet going down upstairs next Thursday, hard flooring TBC. We'll have it all done for Christmas though. Only took us 4 years to cover the bare floorboards!
    2) Found a parking space near the office which is a 5 min walk away by a river and through a little woodland area. Much nicer than parking at nearest supermarket (and free too!) Plus, now I have a cheaper car, bought myself with cash, I'm not so worried about leaving it parked up whereve.
    3) Managed not to raid the vending machine yesterday - snacked on nuts and dried figs instead. And a sneaky bit of cake from the kitchen (someone's birthday). Vending machine is subsidised so it's only 20p for a packet of crisps...not the end of the world...but was still giving my pocket money a bit of a hammering.
    4) I made a lush veggie 'bolognese' last night. Biiiig slosh of leftover red wine. Enjoyed by all.
    5) DH sorting all the laundry and making the bed nicely so the room was gorgeous and snuggly when I went to bed.
