Hello. Hot shower and heat pads applied to my lower back (upper bum!) so it must be Thursday and the long day of work!

First time I’ve felt cold in the morning so I allowed the heating on for half an hour!

Pleasant walk to work. Didn’t need gloves today but still blooming cold!

Work was fine. I actually usually enjoy my full day. Decent tips too.

    Chips for tea.

The (what felt like) the longest walk home, my hips were seizing up and aching and every step was sore...am I nearly home yet? And no I wasn’t.

Cleaners had been so everywhere is tidy, I’ve decided to go fortnightly with cleaner so I can still afford back treatments.

Great Nephews first birthday today, gorgeous boy that he is. Looking forward to the party pics later from my sister.

1 I’m trying an experiment, I have DHs car loaded with what I suspect is enough clothes to fill up a whole BHF clothes bin. For the other bits I am wondering over I have created 5 days’ worth of outfits for next week all hanging up I will wear one each day and see if I would wear it.

2 Planted out some spring bulbs daffodils, crocuses and snowdrops around.

3 Using a voucher and cashback site I ordered in, I shall be very grateful when the kitchens ready to use, not long now.

4 Cleaned out all of the ferret cages for clean bedding, and all bedding through the washing machine and dryer to get the pet hair off.

5 I don’t like the act of de cluttering, but it really needs to be done if we are ever going to get this house on the market, I am getting there it just feels like it’s slow sometimes, and I enjoy the de cluttered feeling it leaves me with, a bit like de cluttering my mind.

Excellent news about Bopsie! Hope she gets better soon (is it an allergy to antibiotics?)

Trying to deal with smaller son's college. Difficult when no one will ever get back to you. I asked for an emergency review of his EHCP (paperwork that covers the cost of additional teaching assistants etc for him) back in early September when I realised college wasn't working out for him...

    Pleasures for today

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Another wishy washy email from college about not needing an emergency annual review of EHCP so phoned county who nearly fell over themselves as they realised he needs a review straight away, that college isn't suiting him, had I realised college hadn't bothered to do the review that should have taken place in September anyway (No, I had heard nothing - of course) and what provision could they put in place for him instead of college?! I'm so used to making do with smaller son being at home, being part time, being ignored that I actually couldn't answer the question as to what I would like! They are going so speak to the county's post 16 person and get back to me next week.

    3) Hens OK.

    4) Finished horrible, horrible handing out of voter registration forms. This has been the worst year and I do not want to do it again. Rude people, massively racist people going on and on, people alone and so frail or mentally ill that I've felt sad walking away after talking to them. Horribly designed housing estate with dark flats and no maintenance done and to round today off, I stood on a screw which went right through my shoe and has ruined it! Pleasure - the money will be nice, but what in other years took about 12 hours took over 20 this year as it was all so spread out!

    5) Things moving forward a bit for bigger son in that he has an interview next week for Halfords plus a reunion in London with the VSO.

    6) Have done little this evening apart from lying on the sofa watching TV.

I've got to think now whether I want to take the job at the college. Bigger son's course was cancelled and my 3 emails about that, plus emails about his bursary, have all been ignored. Smaller son has not attended and hates it, and I've been fobbed off about that. I was told I had the job in mid-August but no one from college has ever contacted me about it at all and I still don't know which days or hours I will be working or my start date! I am no longer sure it is somewhere I want to work.

    1. Saw a small amount of Edinburgh. Mainly walking to and from the hotel. I did have a planned detour to see more.

    2. Conference is good. Mostly interesting with lots of short lectures.

    3. Food very good too.

    4. Met a few people I know.

    5. Swim at the hotel.

Must admit Frith from everything you’ve said about the college it hardly inspires confidence does it, sorry you’ve had a rough week x

    Thursday pleasures,

Straight over to the yard after breakfast, cold but dry.

The grey velvet of my horse’s muzzle and the fact she is very tolerant of the kisses it receives.

What started off as an annoying itchy tickle in my throat when driving over had turned into an achey joint horribleness by the time I left the stables, hardly a pleasure but was just glad to get home!

Had to cancel my blood donation which hate doing but lady was very kind and understanding.

Turned on heating as cold & shivery, paracetamol, honey & lemon drink plus echinacea and then small dog cuddles on sofa.

Capt S defrosted some butternut squash soup for my tea and some LO chilli for his.

Applying Vick to my chest & feet at bedtime reminded me of my DM who was a great believer in its healing powers.

    1. Foodstuffs. Cleaning out of the freezer/fridge continues. Last night was HM mushroom pie, frozen chips, peas. DH too full to go rooting for pudding for once!
    2. Someone dropped off some cooking apples yesterday
    3. New oven being delivered tomorrow! Can't wait to take it for a spin. Hoping to make apple cake tomorrow, and a roast on Sunday. This one is limping along valiently, but burns everything at the back and is soooo slow so last night I had to 'spin' the pie every few minutes and it also took 45 mins, when it should've been 20.
    4. DH's posh coffee machine arrived yesterday and he was excitedly setting it up at 6.30 this morning. Unfortunately it wasn't operational by the time I left for work but he's working from home so am sure he's enjoying it. We budget quite carefully so this was spent with accumulated pocket money. He's finally realised all of those £2.75 flat whites were getting out of hand and it won't be long before his investment repays him! It also heats milk for cocoa. Yum.
    5. Tonight I'm home alone, which means I can watch the final episode of The Capture, run a lovely bubbly bath, slap on a face mask and try and make headway on The Goldfinch.
    6. Realised our next book club book is available at the library, so I'll reserve that tonight.

1 Paid off a debt in full, nice to be able, but also scarey,
2 Had to fill in legal paperwork and send it off, all done.
3 Various preparations for the weekend, hair and nails done
    4 House cleaned a pleasure it’s done.
5 A cook in the tray chicken picked up for a pound, was dinner....

    Pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) Dreamed that I had stepped in as church organist for my mum (which I have done in real life on occasion) and I suddenly composed a marvellous hymn about the Battle of Britain! Then I went back to sleep and dreamed smaller son had a massive beard.

    2) Hens OK.

    3) Emailed the principal of college about bigger son's course being cancelled - 4 weeks had gone by since my first unanswered email. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th emails also unanswered. Well, he did answer - that someone would get back to me!

    4) Went to the library to work quietly to do the proper formal letter requesting an emergency EHCP review. County replied immediately, college ignored it. Then suddenly, hours and hours later, I was sent a mock up of an "out of office" as a reply! You couldn't make it up...

    5) Did the charity shops after the library and got smaller son an as new Saltrock hoodie, for £5.

    6) Bigger son did a large gardening job for someone.

    7) Enjoyed watching An Extra Slice then Gogglebox.

Hello. Very late bedtime for me...I’m just in! It’s been a long day as I have been up since 5am and didn’t sleep particularly well prior...that would be a vomiting Labrador!

    Blooming chilly wind !

A brisk walk to work. The work part was alright. Brisk walk home.

Went into town. Picked up an autumnal wreath at florist. Into M&S for a few bits and bobs. Met a friend and ended up inviting myself along to a concert tonight. She said she was going with her dad.

Went to lidl it was so busy. Got a few bits for work , popped in with them.

Went into a couple of charity shops. Got three big jumpers which will be perfect for the walk to work in the morning. Then if needs be can be stuffed in my bag for the walk home. Also got a lovely little nativity scene. Then when I asked the chap to gather it together for me he broke a bit off. He was mortified...I asked for a discount, which I got. And a lovely ( yes, yes, no more stuff mhags ) set of artificial fruit. Which probably sounds odd but I like it. My granny had fake fruit and it kind of reminded me of that ( I loved playing with it)

Home. Big snuggles with my dog.

    Lasagne for tea.

Went to vets for boosters. He had a good check over ‘what lovely soft fur you have ‘. And a little edible treat.

Then quick home, shower, change, out.

A fabulous concert. Such talent. Chit chat with a few people I know. Glad I bumped in to friend as I had seen it was on but wouldn’t have went out on my own.

Chitchat in car. Good to talk.

Geese flying overhead last few days.

A local artist coming in with a lovely watercolour of a robin. I bought it. I do like my robins and what they mean. It’s next to the picture of little wren.
