I take my own mug to Starbucks (to wash down my own sandwiches).
It could all be worse, but not by much!
  • Met DD1 and Frieda for coffee in town this morning very nice.

Found the new sheet I'd been looking for at a reasonable price in Debenhams.

Got ripe avocados in the greengrocer.

The very naughty cheese and bacon slice from the bakers that I've just eaten as I've been in the hospital to see poor HWK for most of the rest of the day as he was whisked to A&E of Saturday night, brighter yesterday, sadly poorly today and trying to get information from ward staff is akin to trying to get water from a stone, still no wiser.

My lovely manager in the CS and her hubby who are offering lifts and any help I need while I'm on my own, bless them both.

M&M, I can relate to the new oven feeling, we've just had one fitted and it's lovely. Experimenting with it's various pre sets at the moment leads to some err interesting results but fun learning.

Mrs LW you have good friends there, I hope you can find out some information very soon....

Some pleasures for over the weekend.
1 We travelled and stayed up at a good friend’s wedding, the wedding venue and wedding were just beautiful, so many handmade touches, home made jam favours, welly throwing, coconut shys, hoopla and tin can alley, very nice.

2 Had a good boogie towards the end of the night.

3 I booked us in at a little pub / inn 2 miles from the venue as it was the same price as a travel lodge but closer but included a full brekkie, and fair to say food was good but the accommodation was “ok-ish” but not quite there really, it had 7 rooms and was a quiet pub however someone had booked the other rooms for a stag do and they kept waking us up through 3am, 4am which isn’t on. The room was alright but again not quality a bit of a shame but none of it tainted the lovely night away we enjoyed. But when they asked for a review we declined, I would rather not leave a negative review but couldn’t leave a positive.

4 It was nice to be in our own bed last night.

5 When we were travelling back we made sure to pit stop at the great garden centre and I picked up a Rudibaker?? Big daisy type plant, to plant somewhere.

    For today
1 We popped out to aldi for a tiny shop I think I saw DHs bottom lip quiver when they were out of caramel mince pies through I do agree.

2 I set to starting on some baking, we have a new Samsung dual flex oven, and so far it’s the best one I’ve ever had. I made what turned out to be caramel cupcakes, they were supposed to be chocolate but both the sugar free and caramel pots are the same colour I thought I’ll use the open one rather than open the sugar free choc shot but fancy putting them in identical colour pots.

3 Started on making green tomato chutney, but chopped it up and got it into the fridge when I realised I will need to get some mini pots from wilko.

4 Last nights left over take away will be re purposed for tea tonight, does that half its cost by using it for twice the amount of meals? Just making up a salad to go with it.

5 We needed a night away it’s made us all soppy again.

Hello. Just climbed into bed, just home from a lovely night out with a friend.

Today! Kind if caught up on excess laundry, weather cleared up this afternoon so it had a good blow and just popped heating on for half an hour.

Went to M0rrisons to get washing powder which is on special this week. A gilet, a skirt, a bed throw,a hanging basket and a pumpkin light may also have ended up in the trolley! Apart from pumpkin they were all RTC.

Got petrol. All topped up again.

Home and postie had brought my monthly magazine from Australia.

Dog and I went to allotment as it started absolutely lashing with rain. So we got a bit wet but it dried up. Cleared some rubbishy stuff and did a bit of weeding.

Home and hoovered and washed floors and hung washing outside.

Went for dinner with friend. We’ve had a lovely catch up. I’d pate to start and then a crepe with mushrooms.

My bed :) glad to get in it!

MRS LW hope you get some better news tomorrow x

very busy day. i am zonked!
    1) away day for work. lots of good stuff accomplished
    2) and very nice lunch
    3) close to home so got home in time to cancel old home insurance (though not impressed that they wrote to say gadgets no longer covered which is why i moved to another provider, then found i got stung cancellation charge (£45) and a month's fee despite having paid last monthly direct debit on 25th september).
    4) lovely walk with the dogs but then the skies opened. my goodness it sheeted down. all i could do was laugh! glad i was on my way home
    5) home, change into nightie and dressing gown, hm curry and GBBO. Now watching extra slice and realising i missed episode 2 of GBBO! Michael still in, and since this week's episode was on his birthday, I know it was filmed 9th June (day after DD2) :D tis nerve-wracking though!

MrsLW hope HWK recovers quickly and the staff tell you more information.

    1. Work was ok. Various people away so it improves things. Did fill in the staff satisfaction survey and answered honestly.

    2. Didn't get wet on the way home but the heavens opened within a couple of minutes of arriving home.

    3. Remembered to put the bins out for today. Our day has changed.

    4. DS1 home from work earlier than he normally is on lates.

    5. Had cauliflower cheese for tea as been looking forward to it all day.

Sending lots of get well wishes to HWK

    Monday pleasures,

Bit of list errand wise, pet store for small dog feed, equestrian store for horse chaff and roadside stall for horse carrots.

Saw two small coloured foals lying under their Mums and sheltering from the drizzly rain.

Over to see my pony, she was snug and dry in her rug.

Rearranged afternoon tea with DSIL until later in the week, can’t taste anything and am coughing so much it just wouldn’t have been fun.

Went to get some human food as well, hit the sweet spot after lunchtime rush and before school run so blissfully quiet, nice haul of rtc bargains, mostly meat for the freezer.

Pooped by now so found an old B&W film on an obscure channel and snuggled down with small dog.

    Uni Challenge and then bed.

    1. My uni tutor was on Infinite Monkey Cage on radio 4 last night. He's mates with Brian Cox so it's not the only time I've caught him on there but it brought back memories of him tasting stuff in the labs all the time.
    2. Dinner went down well last night - veggie chilli, rice, tortilla chips, salsa. Then I reheated crumble from Sunday and made some fresh custard. Amazing.
    3. Work is OK right now. I'm feeling semi productive and not constantly in a state of panic.
    4. Went to bed at 8.20pm and had a looooong sleep.
    5. Only 2 weeks til holibobs!
  • I actually got to speak to a doctor today and now know what's likely to be up with HWK and where we are with his treatment, much relief is being felt right now.

He will make a full but possibly slow recovery.

They won't send him home tomorrow as they were threatening to do or at all until his danger of dehydration is gone again much relief felt.

Spoke to both daughters today and heard both new grandpickles yelling on the phone.

Back home (went on the early bus to catch the beginning of visiting in the hope (fulfilled) of finding staff still on duty) and having a cup of tea and intending to relax this evening and have an early night.
