Pleasures... (whenever I write that word I think of Jim Carrey yelling PLLLLLEAAAASSUUUURE in Bruce Almighty. heh.)

    1. The new carpet is so lush. Our house has suddenly got warmer, and much, much quieter. No longer do I have to listen to DH crash up and down the stairs. It's now more like pad pad pad pad. Also, this means our bedroom is officially 'finished' now. Probably the only room in the house which is.
    2. Finally got round to transferring the majority of my company group pension to my SIPP, which has less than half the management fee. Every little helps!
    3. DD had 'founders day' at school today. Her school is only 70 years old so they all went dressed in 50s outfits and they're going to learn the jive and other fun things. She looked so cute in her little dress and string of (faux) pearls.
    4. Had a really productive working week and am feeling in good spirits. 2nd trimester is definitely better than the 1st!
    5. It's Friday and I have a curry extravanganza on the mealplan! Potato and pea curry, dhal, bhajis and poppadums. There will be a sea of oil and a mountain of carbs within my tum tonight. Yum.

Hello. Bedtime. What a ghastly night. Very windy and very wet. Though most of day was very windy and mostly dry so washing mostly dried and almost caught up with until I decided to change my bedding!

Work. Drove there this morning ( mainly as I was to be there slightly earlier and I was running late for that as I was hanging out washing ...would have been fine if I was starting at normal time) anyway did a big shop as I had car.

Work was different. Very busy and I was out front instead of in kitchen.

Home. And a much needed tidy up ( how I missed my Thursday clean ; going fortnightly ). Washing in and more washing out.

The neicelys came for tea. Just had bits and bobs. Lovely happy baby enjoying his tea too in his high chair at the table. He was in such a good mood! GN had received her birthday gift from DD1 today and was delighted with it ( a book filled with fascinating facts) and wore her new tee shirt from Australia too. Pudding was leftover slightly out of date cakes from work...didn’t tell them that though! They enjoyed them!

Changed my bed and have my new quilted throw I bought RTC on .

DD2 feeling better than she was at 3am. Bleurgh to sickness !

    Pleasures for today (Friday)

    1) Back better, to the point you wouldn't know there had been anything wrong with it!

    2) Rained ALL DAY, sometimes torrential. The pebbles in the garden were under 5cm of water at one point - and we're on top of a large hill! Managed to do washing and tumble drying.

    3) My decision to not take up the college job is being made easier and easier (I haven't let them know yet...) Bigger son went to his careers meeting on Wednesday (he has all but left) and the lady didn't turn up. It was cancelled again this morning, though they did have the courtesy to let him know - the only person ever to bother to phone any of us!!

    4) Did time consuming admin jobs a.m. Got my mortgage account going online, got my DBS so it will renew annually automatically, did some other tedious job that I can't remember now.

    5) Booked the hotel for the evening after the Man United match - these bookings were lost when Thomas Cook stopped trading. Also put in a claim to get back the money we paid to TC.

    6) Popped to town for petrol, milk and bread and a quick look round the charity shop found me some crochet hooks.

    7) Popped to the nursery but couldn't get round all the plants as it was flooded!

    8) Did some crochet. I think it will be beyond me (again). Bigger son tried at the same time (watched it on YouTube) and got so angry with it that he went to bed for a bit!

    9) Got chips from the van and had those with chicken kievs and peas. Brother came round and brought apple and raspberry crumble with him.

    10) Watched the England match. It was a draw then my brother happened to read "Fortuna" which must have been the name of the stadium, or one of the sponsors. This got us talking about O, Fortuna, which I then played on my phone. Almost in sync to the music, the Czech republic scored a goal, then their celebratory dance ended at exactly the same time as the music!

    11) In bed now to watch Have I Got News For You. Got to be up early tomorrow to help my brother take some sheep to market. Mum and Dad of Frith are in Croatia, where they went each year when they first met (they didn't have any children for 11 years).

    5) then pub with friends for a meal.

    1. Took some eggs to a neighbour and stayed chatting for about an hour. It was nice catching up on all their news.

    2. Walked to post box to post a couple of cards and stayed dry. Stopped to watch the hosts in the field down the road.

    3. Saw another neighbour on my walk and had a chat. Heard all about her grandchildren. No great grandchildren for her yet though.

    4. House is looking tidy and will homeopathy that way.

    5. Had fish pie for tea. DS2 is at his girlfriend house who doesn't like fish.

    Friday pleasures,

Elbow playing live on breakfast radio, I love Guy’s voice.

Capt S dropped his car down in the village for MOT, it passed ( snap PK ) but have advisory on a tyre so booked in to it get done before winter.

Worked the beautiful grey one in school, she was a little poppet for her Mum and behaved impeccably despite me wheezing away!

The horse in the field next to her can get stressy when left alone so was pacing up & down when I took her back out to the paddocks, she touched noses with him as if to say it’s ok, I’m back now, so sweet.

Caught up on housework so the pleasure of a clean house.

Started to watch the football but heart wasn’t in it so enjoyed an Extra Slice, then QI, might have had a medicinal Baileys.

    Pleasures today (on holiday)

Lots of pheasants seen waddling across the road as I drove to the supermarket. A month of Sunday dinners narrowly avoided.

Transcribing some important stuff from a scruffy notebook into a beautiful ornate journal.

Brilliant sunshine this afternoon walking through town with the dog and all the way down to the river.

The best burger and cup of tea ever, from the van on Devil's Bridge. A special favourite rendezvous for bikers from all over the country.

Watching children and dogs play at the water's edge, own dog especially having the time of her life splashing around.
One life - your life - live it!
  • Moorhens on the lake, they have the best feet which look like bananapeels and make the best noise, rather like a bicycle horn, fab birds.

HWK slightly improving since his hospital stay, a way to go yet but definitely brighter today.

Pictures on the phone of my two new grandpickles.

Got a Target Dry cape coat in the charity shop for £5 nearly new and in perfect condition. Have been looking for a cape coat for s while so most pleased.

    Cake from the local bakery.....mmmmmmmmcake!
