Wild weather here. Big jacket and a hat on for the walk to work.

    Work. Done.

Home and made lentil soup & a bolognese sauce for later.

    Massage. Ow. Arrrrrgh. Much needed.

    Home. Snoozette.

Late dinner of spaghetti bol. Watched Bake Off with DD2 who wondered where Mary, Mel & Sue were.

A poorly DD1 & DD2 ...as if they’re coming out in sympathy with each other.

    That sounds positive, MrsLW.

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday).

Still hard going re college. But some progress made today...

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went to my first Parent Carer session. 5 or 6 helpful speakers there so I spoke to the "County Lady" and "Impartial Advice Man". They both nearly fell over when I talked about smaller son. He should be seeing a paediatrician fairly regularly (hasn't seen one for 5 or 6 years) and I should have had a carers assessment. So I need to phone about that and also the GP tomorrow as they couldn't believe a child who can talk to no one except me, bigger son and my brother has never actually received any speech therapy...

    3) Strangely enough (says she, cynically) after phoning County on Friday about an EHCP review, suddenly I received an email from college (!) Obviously, it wasn't HELPFUL, but asked whether he still wanted to do his course!!! So I replied vaguely saying maybe they could start thinking of whether they could offer his course online to do at home. I have never dealt with anywhere so incompetent on so many fronts.

    4) County emailed to say the review will be soon.

    5) And Impartial Man said they will send someone to the review as it has been such a shambles - just let them know the date.

    6) The course was held at a National Trust property so I enjoyed the free lunch then got in the little golfing buggy to travel down to the stately home part. I looked around the various exhibitions and thought the one about it being a former school would be nice...

The NT workers also thought it would be lovely to investigate it being a school (1950s and 60s) and that they would get all the old boys back together and it would be great and positive and they would have a happy reunion. They had made a video saying those had been their initial thoughts. They had commissioned an artist and gone into it pretty up-beat.

It got to the sentence "the school was run by Catholic nuns..." and I think we can all guess where it went after that. They ended up basically helping the old boys work through their memories (most of which were about stealing food). The lady visitor sitting next to me and I could not speak after watching that. Finally she said, "Makes you glad to be Jewish!" and we had to have a chat to cheer ourselves up! Poor chaps, now in their 60s.

    7) Met my school friend for a cup of tea.

    8) Bigger son did his first shift at Halfords and enjoyed that.

    9) Tasty tea of brisket, potatoes and spring greens.

    10) Watched Holby City.

    1. A friend made day bearable at work. She gave me a lift to my car too. Traffic was bad leaving work so we had a long chat. She is becoming despondent with work.

    2. At work was annoyed when no one was prepared to help me with a wheelchair to the extent that opening a door was beyond them until I asked in front of the gentleman in the wheelchair. One more frustration with them all.

    3. DS2 cooked a chicken pie which was tasty.

    4. Long conversation with my parents. My Dad having side effects of his treatment so has an appointment soon with Oncologist.

    5. Watched Holby and GBBO

    Tuesday pleasures,

Woke up with a mouthful of ulcers, not a pleasure but finding Bongela in the medicine box was, this bloomin virus! A lovely friend reminded me about fresh pineapple helping as well.

Had a small pile of mending to do and ended up sorting out my button box.

Started new book, Reading in Bed by Sue Gee.

Evening walk with small dog, gorgeous sunset and enjoyed the fresh air.

Easy chicken traybake for tea, followed by pineapple :)
  • BoP is returning from up Norff. Mills are different up here. Sore tin cloth out. More brass.

    Still no sin any whippets.

    Lunch Bites back tomorrow.

    Keep well.
  • HWK has been discharged and is home.....not sure he should be yet but apparently they 'needed the bed' so he was.

Good morning in the shop productive time and cleared all stock to shop after sorting and pricing.

A most kind friend gave me a lift to the hospital and brought HWK and I back.

I have just been for a walk, to the library and to the shop in the sunshine and for some fresh air, much enjoyed.

Not having to trek into the hospital on the bus and back home on the bus as I have all weekend and this week but thank heavens for my bus pass.

Take it easy Mrs LW & HWK.

What a driech day! Soaked going to work though it was dry till I got home then such a downpour. Noticed ( took photos) of such bright autumn colours on the way home. Stunning.

Work was worked. Hours are being changed. Hmmm. Not decreased slightly changed .

Trying to catch up on laundry and clothes horses and radiators filled.

Have made lasagne with roast potatoes (rtc) and parsnips which were rtc anf parboiled in freezer.

Found a pile of glass decals for Halloween I’d got last year when a shop was closing down. Have decorated some of my empty jam/sauce jars I bring from work. Will pop tea lights in them.

DD2 better today which I’m glad of.
  • Looks whats Jenny’s bought down from up Norff to the needy.

    :heartpuls :heartpuls
  • Mrs LW glad HWK is home.

1 Various washing loads done and, one load of ironing, now that was fun, I knew I had an iron somewhere, and a board but over the years have got away with hanging things up, but the delicate dressey stuff needed ironing. Total for the day 4 loads, it’s a pleasure it’s kept up with I guess as sometimes I wonder why bother.

2 Our bedding changed, carpet re vaxxed, looking forward to that clean bedding feeling tonight.

3 It’s a pleasure to have tried but failed at this, I cooked up tomato chutney faithfully following the recipe, and double checked, but the stench oh wow the stench, it was appalling, I wasn’t wasting good pots on that, it has gone in the bin, I would be surprised if the acid didn’t burn through concrete!

4 I cooked up a pork roast with new pots, veg and apple sauce. Nice to be using the kitchen again, it’s not finished but, it is still a vast pleasure to be able to cook proper food again.

5 Sorted out 4 garden pots of plants that don’t grow back and put the pots away.

    1. I didn't yell at anyone at work. It was close at a couple of points. It was a very busy day and people seemed to be on a go slow. It won't change and any complaints will fall in deaf ears as boss is one who doesn't pull her weight.

    2. Talked of moaned with someone in a different department. She is ready to pack it all in too.

    3. Friend came round with some plants from her garden. Had a quick chat with her.

    4. Made a tasty shepherds pie for tea. It was tasty.

    5. An early night and read my book.
