For yesterday,
Into horsey town to do a shop and have a quick coffee with friend.
Listened to DN’s latest podcast as I did some chores.
Heavy rain started up so decided to get big girl in early, stopping off to pick up some bales of shavings on the way, it’s surprising what you can fit in the back of a mini!
Got her in from the field, washed down her legs then she stood outside her stable with a hay net while I mucked out and put fresh bedding down. Cosy with the rain hitting the roof.
Caught up with all things Ambridge after tea, oh my very dramatic.

"being well enough to try" oh, ampersand. There's no point pleading with you to go easy, I suppose?
LaineyT - yes, Mackenzie & Toby Jones to return as British enthusiasts wanting to explore Mars (in the 1970s), seemingly! "What you can get in the back of a mini" sounds disconcertingly somewhere between a scout game & a ripping murder yarn…
villagelife - so warm in church? Cor! Awed.
mhagster - leak by logburner & Haggis overdoing, oops, but RTC flowers & malteser slice plans?!
BoP - every fraction of a percentage warmly appreciated as my immune system sems to get so far & pause for a rest.so:
Various scarves washed & dried to gift to senior female relatives. Not a great fan of the run up to C season but knowing what I have helps make decisions declare themselves.
Catching up on Only Connect & reading up on the origin of Gatorade. Somehow a nephrologist sounds sinister - I’m sure they’re perfectly fine folk, just, ugh, kidneys.
Finding myself asked how much to chip into a retirement present! The lady is an old ally so I’ve gone large, but my colleague hasn’t the history & I suggested a fiver if manageable.
“Beautiful hat, sir!” Drawn from me as I’d not seen a bowler trimmed with at least 3 species, including the eye of a peacock feather, before. Leaving a tax office, to boot! He was amused.
Oooh, recalled Colonial Goose as a disguised dish before the Only Connect kiwi team. And the more Only Connect I watch, the more flattered I am that a trainee thought I sounded like VCM.(!)Oh the wonderful feeling as the hot water bottle reaches my toes… (I had to look up what chilblains are. My toes are fine, just cold until trying to hug the HWB.)
Wool blazer from eBay hung in shower carefully steaming to let packing creases drop out. (Mostly, will try again another day)
Storm took out power to the farm behind us & some of the trees needed trimming back. A shock to see that included the lad’s lime but 4 cuttings repurposed & potted up in hope. Maybe one will make it through winter & then with me to new place.
New tuba mouthpiece arrived but looks the same bore as my current arsenal. Will consult with wiser heads tomorrow, apparently messing with pitch.Health Strength Love & Courage to all as have need, along with layers & waterproofs & caulking & hot chocolate as indicated!

Took the car for a very local run, we picked up an Olio request, which I’ve stashed away in the freezer, and we snaffled the custard donuts already.
With a car we were able to pick up a bigger Aldi shop, again stocking up a drawer mainly with frozen veg this time.
Popped into Pets at Home as some of the ferret treats are on offer, and they had a pumpkin bed reduced by 75% it had to be done. Modeled by Donut.
Being able to admire the full moon from the sofa.
A bit of house tidying as always.

PK - donuts go good with pumpkin. Charming.

For yesterday
- Still warm enough to wear flip flops on walk to bus stop.

- Got off bus a stop early to walk further.
- Had sea bass for tea which was tasty.
- Had an early night.
5 - Still warm enough to wear flip flops on walk to bus stop.

aww, cuteness overload PK
Everything crossed that the cuttings are successful Dfv
For yesterday,
Had to drive on dreaded A road near to home, only three junctions down but yes, held up due to accident, happily all looked ok although builders van almost hidden in roadside hedges.
New to me equine feed store, my girlie seems to have what looks like early onset of Mallenders, the heavier draft breeds are particularly prone to this. Lots of research done and new feeding regime now in place, supported by lots of gut balancing supplements. She’s lucky to have got to age 14 without any major problems and this is at least manageable but oh the sleepless nights when it comes to our animal companions.
Anyways, home from expedition, knocked back and baked a loaf.
Over to yard, much nicer day with lots of sunshine so left her out a bit longer while I did her stable & sorted feed etc. Unfounded worries over whether she would eat new stuff, practically inhaled it!
We had roasted root veg and pork chops for tea, pastry week on GBBO so got a couple of Portuguese custard tarts in the oven sharpish.

Good evening! I was sure I’d written last night but turns out I didn’t!
Tuesday.Quiet morning. A day of doggy rest to try and help a sore leg.
Had to wait in for an 8-1pm slot for wifi connection. Chap came at 11am…now I may or may not have been out and doing something for those first three hours but see when I am forced to stay in …grrr! Surely the people who organise time slots can have it to less than a 5 hour window! Anyway chap was very nice and helpful and I now have new much cheaper per month wifi ( saving £33 a month! Was paying way too much! )
Went tablet ( Scottish sweet) delivering! Then to DD2 ( and hello Baby) went in car and ever so glad I did as it was absolutely lashing when I left!
Home and chat to sister and then it was time for my supermarket delivery with my £30 extra stash! Got loads !
Friend called so had a lovely chat with her.
And today. Up early after another rubbish sleep.
Made a cheesecake base with the shortbread I was given as a thank you gift for deceased cat the other week! And three leftover digestive biscuits from my malteser slice 😆
Had vets for annual jabs …H was described as having a good heart and lovely teeth! He just loves the vets ‘I can tell ‘ said the new to us vet.
Home via supermarket to drop off plastic bags.
Hoovered the car and topped up the washer reservoir .
Then sorted out cake tin / chopping board cupboard. And washed down open shelves in kitchen. I’m working my way round drawers and cupboards.
Walked round to DD2 to go to baby group at library expecting it to be at same time as Saturday group thinking we’d be 10 minutes early…hmmm 20 minutes late! We just about turned! mortified! I don’t do late!
Walked into town and DD2 popped into work to get something from her locker…oh when are you coming back? Ages! Stop asking! But a very smiley baby!
Big walk back up to car but thankfully today was dry and mild ish .
Washing out when I got back in. Car blankets and kitchen floor mats! Half dry when I brought them in later.
Two work calls. So calls made and family visits arranged. I’ve had three weeks off and got loads of wee extra things done but do need to work occasionally so was glad of the calls!
Chat to sister.
DD2 and Baby came round. So cuddles and chats and story time and bath in the kitchen sink. And idiots are letting off fireworks. Grrr. Poor dog is terrified.
