Pleasures today.
Sunshine, no rain. Bit breezy but ok.
The first blackberries ripening in the hedgerows - I picked a few, rinsed them and put them in a box in the freezer. I will keep adding blackberries as I find them, and prepare for blackberry and apple crumbles in the winter, plus I will make a small batch of blackberry whisky.
Enough rowan berries collected to make a small jar of rowan berry and apple jelly to serve with meats and cheeses.
Using reduced price strawberries to start off a rumtopf. I know I am a couple of months late, but I thought I'd have a go. I will add to it as fruit, foraged or reduced price, becomes available.
Getting a handy tax refund in the post.
Making up a chocolate and coffee hamper for a friend's birthday- chocolates, ground coffee, posh biscuits and a pretty china mug.
Daughter sending me photos from her weekend on a Scottish island, looks like Paradise.
Home made rice pud for dessert tonight, made in the Remoska. One life - your life - live it!0 -

1 Up early, duvet hung out from washing machine, animal bedding on, cleaned French windows properly and window sill.
2 Cleared up some clutter, started a box of it’s newish but we don’t use it what do we do with it kitchen stuff. Deep cleaned the fridge, sofa and the downstairs floors, the new flash pet cleaner is very good. Then decided to do the upstairs as well afterwards I remembered why I tend to spread it out..
3 DH finished the shed base and started cementing down the patio.
4 I went out to pick up some fresh bits and bobs, tried to find a charity bin that wasn’t overflowing and failed, but picked up rtc’s all bad things like cookies and doughnuts, which are freezing down now, we will take them as treats when we are away in the van. Ohh and a blueberry, apple and chia purple bread for 20p has to be tried but I’m not
5 Snorkers and mash was dinner.0 -
Oh Sue I'd just love to give you a big squeezy hug and say it will be alright. We are all here for you X
Bedtime!
Work 9-12. My new mantra is serving me well. In. Out. And a tiny smugness at the true colours of another being seen for what they are! Not just me then! As I write that it seems really mean-spirited when I try to practice what I preach of it's nice to be nice but sometimes....!
Home. Rain. Dry. Rain. Washing out. Washing somehow dried ( that'll be the breeze!)
Read. Snoozied whilst reading.
Had mince pie ( with homegrown courgettes and onions in) and our potatoes too!
DD2 home. A bit crabbit but has just sat and yacked for an hour ( as I had been hoping to just sit quietly and read) the dog is delighted his people are home!
Window cleaner came but it just shows how filthy they are inside!0 -
SuffolkSue , just be with him as much as you can. Talk to him, play his favourite songs, tell him everything will be ok and that he doesn't have to worry about you, the family, anything. One life - your life - live it!0

SuffolkSue - I am sorry, it sounds so difficult.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Made plum jam this morning (another entry for the village show. It won't be winning any prizes as it hasn't really set properly).
3) Hens well and I weeded the allotment a bit while I was there. Tomatoes have flowered at last! Dug up a few potatoes.
4) Worked in the garden. I gave it a good doing the other day but it was full of leaves and twigs from the big tree removals. So swept it all again, chopped off all the brambles growing in from uphill neighbour's garden (again).
5) I'm going to try and get every possible job done before bigger son comes home so I cleaned their room this afternoon - every bit.
6) Made kedgeree for tea as it is a smaller son favourite.
7) Smaller son made a lemon drizzle cake.
8) I've been offered election work again this autumn (a few days) and have a job interview for next week...0 -

Suffolksue thinking of you and your DH.
& Thinking of you.
1. Washing out on line before work and all dried and ironed.
2. Work was bearable. A case of a day at a time. I refused to see someone as they had to see a senior member of staff. I was told that I was and I said no as banding and pay wise I'm not senior. They were senior people around drinking coffee too. This was late morning and I hadn't stopped all morning.
3. Made a ham pie for tea and some jam tarts to use up the pastry.
4. Quiet evening and relaxed.
5. Walked round the garden with a cup of coffee.0 -
& those neighbours sound particularly toxic, hugs.
Such a hard path for you both to tread Sue take care x
Wednesday pleasures,
Ordered burning oil for the year, interestingly prices were lower than last year and am thankful for insight to put money aside each month so we can make the most of low summer costs :money:
Spent time with equine girlie in her field, found the small blackberry patch she has obviously been getting at, she stood quietly beside me as I hunted for ripe ones and delicately took them off the palm of my hand, one by one.
Capt S came home for lunch and we caught up on each other’s day.
Popped over to M&D’s grave, left them with a bunch of cheery sunflowers.
A small ritual to mentally put down a burden that I have been carrying around for the last few days.0 -
Thinking of you and your DH SuffolkSue. Sounds like you're lucky to have each other.
I'm too tired to think of pleasures (though am feeling in good spirits) but enjoyed reading all of yours.0
