Well done that Frith lets hope something positive comes out of today’s meeting.
Sorry you are struggling so Fuddle perhaps jot down any possible pleasures on a little notepad during the day, if not to share but to just confirm to yourself that they are happening?

    Thursday pleasures,

In to horsey town for food shopping, also picked up parcel from old work place as had been delivered there in error, the receptionist had obviously been drilled to ask me certain questions :( name, rank and number only.

After yesterday’s shenanigans Princess Pony was a little star and left the yard with a big smile on my face.

Apparently small dog had howled all the time that I was out which is unusual for her, eldest DSS had to leave study upstairs to come and sit downstairs with her.

Dusk seemed to come really early as the mist had rolled in, lamps on.

Finished Case Histories and now reading the Christmas Card Crime and other Stories, perfect for dark nights.
  • Hi, here's my five for yesterday ;

    1) Great morning emptying, cleaning and reorganising kitchen cupboards. I now have a whole shelf for Christmas foods. I have always loved cleaning cupboards - very satisfying and relaxing.

    2) A whole load of towels all line dried. It's great watching the washing blowing in the sunshine.

    3) Another good blether at the knitting group and also managed to do some knitting ;).

    4) Then went into town and did some Christmas shopping. Bought both dgs trousers - that me finished buying their Christmas outfits. I also found pink Smarties for dgd and bought some things for the medicine cupboard.

    5) Then finished by going to Meditation for an hour. Got home at 8.30 exhausted but relaxed and happy.

Welcome Sue, I've not been posting on here for very long but joined for the same reason as you. 2018 has been a horrendous year for me and I needed to focus on the positive. It's a lovely group xx

suffolksue just jump right in, that's what we all did at some point. I've been posting here most days for past 8 years! Which when I write it down sounds ages. But it helped/continues to help and focus on the good things that are in our everyday lives. Sometimes you just have to look harder.

I'll do mine early today as I really have to look for them.

Son went out at 5am ...let dog out but didn't feed him. Apparently it was only 5am...and? The dog would have / occasionally does have his breakfast at that time! Anyway fear not the dog came looking for me and was fed!

I'm not talking to my youngest daughter. She rather rudely told me to stop repeating myself and said she was worried I had dementia. So I have not spoken since. Possibly immature but she upset me. I don't have a husband to tell the minutiae of my day too....she tells me enough about hers!

Went to lidl and used my £5 off voucher. Went round with my calculator.

    Came straight home.

Back door wide open. It's a mild day.

Apparently my plasterer is in sunnier climes. He never came back to check his work as I was told would happen. So my downstairs has been needlessly upside down since Wednesday. I sent him a polite but that I was unhappy text. He told my builder the lad had said the customer was happy. The lad had infact said R will be round at 11am. And I'm not a plasterer but that bit doesn't look right. It turns out that the lad was sacked that day so whether he failed to pass on the message properly I don't know. I'm just not happy. In fact I was fizzing in a way that I have not for a while.

Quick dog walk with Old Lady dog.

Lidl jelly babies...don't taste like jelly babies but are rather nice in a non jelly baby kind of way!

Everything back where it's supposed to be...for now. Much humphing and deep sighing.

Will have work tonight. Was paid today so hurrah for that. Hopeful of no mad dramas that need to be paid for from it. ( was specs last week).

In Australia you are mostly paid weekly and at most fortnightly. So will be weird going back to monthly pay after years of not. Need to re-learn how to budget .
  • 1) RUGBY TONIGHT!!!

    2) Found a beautiful soft grey scandi jumper in a charity shop for under a fiver this morning, going to wear it at Christmas.

    3) Met a lovely lady on the bus in to the city this morning and she was worried about finding her way back to the new bus station that has just opened. I stayed on an extra stop and talked and showed her all the new gadgets, walked her in to the centre of town and was pleased to see her back waiting in the queue when I went back home.

    4) Just been to inspect the allotment and HWK has done a fantastic job of the clearing and digging, and we've just made the seed list for next year, so exciting.

    5) Going to watch the local rugby club play tomorrow afternoon and with a bit of luck DD1, James and the boys will come too and then back home for cake and a cuppa, just love family!!!

  • My five for today are;

    1) More sewing and Christmas movies :). Half made another stocking and also shortened sleeves on mums new jacket.

    2) Hung another washing out today but not so great as it just hung and didn't dry :( It's now on the radiator racks).

    3) I bought ys cheese loaf from M&S yesterday. I had it for lunch with cooked smoked ham. Absolutely delicious 😋.

    4) I went for a walk after lunch - although it was very damp the winter sun was shining. On my return I had a hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. Again delicious 😋.

    5) Went for dinner to mums and had Smoked Haddock Pie and peas. Then usual tea an Tunnocks teacake. Yet again delicious 😋.

Just noticed how many of my pleasures are food related :rotfl:. xx

  • 1 A lovely visit to the in laws yesterday, but a long slow drive back in the fog.
2 Ran a few errands, car bits to collect, and prescription to pick up.
3 Pork roast leftovers were todays sweet and sour with turmeric rice.
4 Decided to set to on various house things, I started sugar soaping the kitchen walls, tomorrow holds the remainder of a wall and two corners and the last of the ceiling.
5 Applying for a lot of roles and 1 more application to get ready for Monday.
  • I would like to join too if that's ok.

    1. Best day/night I have had in the last ten days of cold/cough. Think I am finally on the mend.

    2. Picked up dgs (3) from nursery and brought him here for lunch and a play. Always such fun.

    3. DH fitted new toilet without too many mishaps. It is so much better than old one (never been happy with it since bathroom was done last year).

    4. Walked dgs home instead of going in the car because it was such a lovely warm day, who would believe it is November.

    5. Had lovey fresh fish from the fish van who comes round our way on Fridays but I always seem to miss him.

It took a little thought but it is a good exercise to think of the simple pleasures in our everyday lives. Am looking forward to getting to know you all.
