............ The third bus I get is a double decker bus and I always sit up top. Not the easiest option with my dodgy knees but will keep doing this as long as I can. A bit of childhood excitement revisited..................

What a fantastic day you've had, plumduff :j! Have to admit that I've not been on the top deck of a bus for around 25yrs ................. as you might guess, it's the knees-thing with me too! (Now got two new ones, but they won't let me go upstairs on a bus - especially when it's moving !)

So pleased to hear that there was nobody around to 'witness your slow-motion-fall and the subsequent embarassment' ;):o.

............ Smaller son is still in isolation at school though I doubt he or the staff can actually remember what for now, it's been that long... Another 6 days of lessons missed in his GCSE year. The door being blocked and the threat of restraint from a staff member has not been mentioned; my email has not received a reply..................

    4) Had a job interview! It's the first interview for a job I've really wanted for long time (over a year - obviously I've done other bits in the meantime)................

    6) Got in touch with the SEN man at college and will be seeing him tomorrow to discuss smaller son's transition next year. Hope they are bracing themselves! Also found his EHCP and other paperwork ready...............

    9) Can't get smaller son to do his homework (which he has had for a week and I've been reminding him about approx. every 2 hours for that week) so I've come to bed with 1hwb and am looking forward to 24 Hours in A and E and something else good afterwards - First Dates?

All that isolation of your smaller son sounds all wrong to me - so similar to what we've been through with Nathan :(.

Well done on the job interview :T - even if you don't get the job, the experience of going for the interview will stand you in good stead for the next one - onward and upwards :j!

Hope you can get somewhere with the school regarding smaller son transitioning next year - is this from Comp to College (or Primary to Comp)? Nathan's school expelled him around 8mths before he was due to leave, so he got absolutely NO HELP whatsoever with progressing to some kind of College Education. DD had to try to 'bumble her way through' before she finally came up with the facility that he's going to now.

Homework situation - oh yes, we know that one so well - so you have utmost admiration on trying to get him to do any. I honestly don't think that Nathan did any at all for the entire (almost) 5yrs that he was at Comp - he always insisted that he didn't have any to do. The teacher would sometimes write it on the black/white board and tell the kids to copy it down - before wiping the board too quickly for Nathan to write it down. Even then, he couldn't read his own handwriting . They couldn't even be bothered writing it clearly on a slip of paper for him to take home for somebody else to read .

  • Mine was watching my 5 year old grandson hoover his mummy’s front room to raise money for children in need
Having to use my fan at work in November as it was quite warm
Chatting with my daughter after little one was tucked up
Coming home to a comfortable tidy home after recent blitz of clutter
Discovering my daughter had dropped off a side table from her home I had always admired
  • Mine for yesterday:

    1. Slow, smooth start to my day as I didn't have to 'out' until 10.30am PLUS it was quite a 'pleasant morning'.

    2. Made a packed lunch of cup-a-soup, Coriander&Lemon Hummus with GF Crispbreads and yoghurt to take into the Charity Shop to have before I started work at 12.30.

    3. Called into Costa for a coffee before going into the shop. One of my regular customers was there with two ladies that he is a Support Worker for and he insisted on paying for my coffee :T. Was lovely to see these particular ladies as I've not seen them for such a long time :D.

    4. Quite a good shift at the shop - bought two large pictures of New York Skyline for DGS3 (Tyler age 13). DS1 had asked me to keep a lookout for one, so I texted him first to see if it was still wanted - he was delighted :j.

    5. Called round to church after the shop - managed to get one of the necessary forms filled in and can add it to the PC later.

    6. Back home in time for evening meal of Garlicky Mushrooms on GF Toast .

    7. Emmerdale and Coronation Street x2 followed by a lovely chat with my cousin who's been having a difficult time with her inlaws over DMiL needing to go into respite :(. Her BiL is insisting that 'HIS mother' is NOT going into respite and can remain with my cousin and her husband ................. no mention of 'HIS mother living with HIM and HIS wife' - cousin is  as she isn't in good health and her husband is 'hiding behind her' over the whole thing, telling her that 'she's good at doing the talking'. We then decided to change the subject and chatted about our Family History Stuff instead - planning a meet up sometime soon, as it's been quite a few weeks :j!

    1. Just had a nice snack to keep me going until a late lunch: 1/2 avocado, hummus, tomato on rye bread. Yummy.
    2. Looking forward to a lovely lunch in a local artisan bakery by the river with one of my bosses this afternoon.
    3. Felt on fire in meetings this morning, generally enjoying work.
    4. Last night I made 4 portions of quinoa chowder (new recipe) so dinner is sorted for tonight.
    5. Found someone to take away our old dining chairs, and I have a child free and activity free evening tonight so I should be able to list some of the expensive 'to go' stuff in the dining room (iMac, bike trainer, DH's camera equipment, InstantPot, Denby crockery...anything we make will go towards a mini break. Would love to see Salome in Vienna next year!).

Going to whack on Mad Men, make myself a hot squash (wild!) and get to work selling old stuff and assembling new dining chairs.

This thread is such a useful exercise in gratefulness. Yesterday I found out my grandma is on her death bed, managed to bump into a car behind me (left a note and luckily he's being nice about it), and realised I'd ordered £350 worth of the wrong paint so will have to lug it to the car, then take it to the nearest Farrow&Ball shop for a refund. But it was nice to think about the stuff going right...
  • V Oh dear, the bandwagon and click bait awaits your disdain while you have your cheese on toast topped with the pub singer’s photographer’s wife’s sausages! Seems the links on buckface telling you, and the radio this this mourning about the emulsion production tells you about the flower garden chocolates you want to wolf down and gorge on at xmas. Still nothing about the vegan sausages from the photographer! Any more and BoP would be red carded here and you will ponder what happened to the spreadable from the fridge emulsions!

4 And how much do I miss being told by the celebs on the media thing for the checkout girl who is struggling to make a mint to pledge a whack from her salary, remembering that most did get paid more than her in a show, than she gets a year. Avoid. In 1981 we did raise about some £70 for this event. In 82 and ever since. Zilch. Avoid. See note passim from BoP.

3 Watched the film about that Jackson five thing last night, and the finishing song was a cleaned up version of the risqu! one! Poor lass from near Calais! Armentiers I think. One of those chorus ones, where the risqu! elements are interlaced by the vocalists as a side to the activities going on. One sung in the pigs bar more than once. Note to readers of BoP views. Pigs Bar, a drinking establishment! Not for the faint hearted! Nor very correct in a political sense. No one was harmed by the vocals though! If it rhymed, it was sung!

2 On that note! On the band wagon is another house that burnt down due to the soot emitting wood stove! Oh dear. You do need to sweep your chimney of soot and muck every year, otherwise it goes up in smoke! Look nice though on the post card!

Having a right one today is BoP! And I have wolfed my my Bourneville as well!

    Let’s have a singalong!
  • 1) Met DD2 and the Oreo child in Ikea for lunch, much tickling done and much giggling involved too!

    2) Free coffee for all of us on the Family card, such a lovely perk.

    3) Back to DDs for a cuppa and one of her old school friends popped in to say hello and she's going to be a mummy in the spring, fantastic news!

    4) The hardware store in the village has got us a replacement brush for the one that was broken in the fireside companion set which we collected this afternoon.

    5) We lit the stove as we came in and it's now toasty warm in the lounge and the eco fan is whirling merrily on the stovetop, lovely!

    1) a small bit of blackcurrent pruning

    2) finished crochet mermaid tail blanket as Christmas gift.

    3) youngest DD made apple crumble and tidied up immaculately afterwards.

    4) DH brought me a cup of tea by my bed as I wind down early for sleep.

    5) DH and I worked a new budget for the new year. We're going back to fully cash/saving jars for more control. Feels good, team work, agreement and accomplishment. Weight feels lifted.
  • Back to a normal five for today;

    1) Woke at 3, then at 5 and happy that I went back to sleep till 8.

    2) Lucky that weather was dry enough to hang out the washing, mainly my quilted jacket and trousers from yesterday.

    3) Went for usual Tuesday walk at 1 pm.

    4) Then to mums for usual tea and Tunnocks tea cake.

    5) Lazy day compared to yesterday but much needed as I was shattered from all the walking and travelling yesterday.

I'm going to have an early night tonight xx

Olliebeak It's quite scary going down the stairs while the bus is moving. It takes all my strength to hang on and each time I tell myself I am mad and should just sit downstairs. Until the next time when I am tempted to live on the wild side :rotfl:
Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order :) )

plumduff - be really careful coming down those stairs ....................... one bump in the road and you could be pole-dancing down the handrail 08f38b500bae8b4ee61918c713cb7f63.jpg :rotfl:. Sorry about that - just couldn't resist ;)!

    Mine for today:

    1. Another beautiful morning with the sun shining really brightly through the front window - felt like behing in a Conservatory ;).

    2. Had the rest of the hummus with GF crispbreads for lunch and a cup-a-soup before decided to go out to my meeting .

    3. Called in Mr.T's to get 'something' for tonight's meal. Found a whoopsied pack of Stir-Fry, whoopsied Beansprouts and bought half-a-dozen mushrooms. Had a chunk of whoopsied 'Roast Turkey' in fridge that needed using up as well :j.

    4. Treated myself to a Flat White with sugar-free caramel syrup in Co$ta - very .

    5. Good meeting with only two absentees, so we managed to finalise the plans for the 'Christmas Cracker Event' on 1st December. We've been 'stashing' excellent quality toys / books / jigsaws / jewellery / unwanted Gift Sets of Toiletries / Festive CD's & DVD's / fancy party-style clothes for a few months PLUS all the unwanted Christmas Stuff that came in during New Year when folks took their decorations / trees down - so there's plenty of stock to put out on the day :j. A local shop has offered to supply us with Boxes of Mince Pies :T.

    6. Back home to a lovely Sweet Chilli&Garlic Turkey Stir-Fry .

    7. Watched Emmerdale and then finished off neck/cuffs/hem of the blouse that I started last week for DDiL :j.

Absolutely shattered now and can feel my bed calling out to me ....................... night night, everybody - sleep tight - don't let the bed bugs bite ;) - luv Ollie xx
