  • Mine for yesterday:

    1. Caitlin and I had a reasonable night's sleep - especially given that she's a wriggly 11yr old with very long legs ;)!

    2. Somehow, we were both ready to leave by 10.15am for Church service.

    3. Lovely service in Church. Not just remembrance of all who've died in service for this country, but also all Church Members who've passed away.

    4. Hung around for refreshments after the service - great to have a chat and to see the younger members bringing the tea, coffee and biscuits round for everybody else. We've got a good group of young people and a wide age mix in this church. All Scouts/Cubs/Beavers/Leaders in full uniform for The Parade and a good Bugler :T.

    5. Lunch in Costa - Caitlin had a Breakfast Wrap with Hot Chocolate and I had the Gluten Free Parsnip Soup with Flat White :j.

    6. Quick 'whoopsie hunt' and came out with Tesco Gluten Free Chipolatas - 'pigs in blankets' sorted for Christmas; Roast Turkey; Honey Roast Ham; Lancashire Cheese; Jam Doughnuts (16p); Pancakes (15p) - the last two for Caitlin to take home for DD and Nathan.

    7. Back home to relax for a couple of hours and then evening meal of Spicy Chicken Thighs, Spicy Sweet Fries, Onion Rings and Salad.

    8. Quick visit from DD to collect Caitlin and then an episode of Midsomer Murders ..................... though I didn't make it all the way through :( - the sleep fairy got me ;)!

V For dinner yesterday was door stop carrot and beef stew and cheesy dumplings. In rich pan gravy, with onions and all. Rosemary infused roast tatties and cauliflower. Then strawbs and bits! Well rubbing of the tum! No emulsions were used! Not only that, I is asked how my tatties roast so good.
    Here is BoPs recipe.
Peel spuds and put in pan of hot boiling water. Boil for 5 minutes vigorously! (You must peel the spuds, them skin on spuds things inn the emporium are full of emulsions! Please remember the facebook sheople hit of last week was palm oil, the main ingredient of emulsions and forget you not that the pub singer’s wife sausages are full of the said emulsion! Blow me!
Drain. Add plain Four in colander. Add crushed rosemary. Pepper. Then add unsalted butter and a dash of salt. Vigorously shake in colander. Place on tray with lard in oven at 200C. Don’t use emulsions! Done proper.

4 That said, I did look at me snorkers (butchers and no emulsions) on SatDay morning as they were grilling on the stove! With the best back and grilled toms. Very disappointed that they did not contain any emulsions! Very nice! Tinned toms were in tom sauce and did not contain emulsions!

3 Now at the mill IT’s has bin inn and downgraded everyone. Password update and the site does not link. No bother, I will take the shovel to the thing! But inn the packed lunch box, we has Toms, Cucumber, Strawbs, berries, Bourneville, chocolate digestives and an orange. This weaks jelly with oranges is slime!

2 Night BoP is inn the gym getting trimmed for San Francisco! More on the Tea party later.

Had one today with IT! Shovel to it does work!

There is a track going around BuckFace on the US Artillery and the silence at 11! Minds me of exercise, or practises years ago. Throwing claps into the woods and things. Lover’s pond up in Yorkshire was good if we lit them up like Blackpool Tower! Always had one do the survey in the morning! Nature survey that is, and we used to be amazed what he bought back! Still remember the bloody cockerel up at now Robin ‘Oods aerodrome!

Just finished reading up to the armistice about the Great War in my rag and how the commentary was different in those days. How the war poet was just another name in the deaths column in that November, then just over a hundred years later, get an obituary.

Note to readers, it is not real slime jelly, but lime flavoured! Remember, emulsion should be used for the walls of houses, not the walls of arteries.

Suddenly there was the sound of Bird Song

    2) The leaf colour was AMAZING!!! and it didn't rain until we were on the way home woohoo!

    3) Stopped off at B & Q o the way home as HWK needed some things and I popped into one of the nearby shops and found some stocking presents for the grown ups.

    4) The cup of tea I've just drunk.

    5) We lit the stove as we came in and within 5 minutes the fan was whirling away on top and the room was and is toasty warm, oh it's lovely!

Good afternoon. Shall post my so far pleasures for Monday.

Dinner is in the oven. Chicken and salami ( needed using up!) and veggie pie. Roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips and lovely sprouts too! Also cooking a lasagne for tomorrow whilst oven is on.

Went into town first thing. I'd seen a lovely vase in a charity shop window on way back from church yesterday. Website said open at 9.30am so there was I ...they opened at 10am. Anyway it's now got a new home with me. Dark yellow with bees on it, goes perfectly in my living room. It still had its original labels on it so I don't think it's been used.

Into another charity shop in way back to car. And 2 new to me jumpers, one is cashmere...the other DD2 has her eye on. But it's going to NYC first!

Photo of my great nephew. He's almost 6 weeks and looked very serious in his photograph this morning. I've asked if I can share his pics on FB, I didn't like to assume so was told of course I could which was very kind.
He's just gorgeous. Hopefully will get down next month to see him again.

I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon. Bit of a tight turnaround as I have to be at my current job ( which finishes at weekend) an hour later and it's other end of town and I need to be layered and ready for that!

Been slightly industrious . Washings done, kind of dried outside then it rained. So all ironed and on clothes horses/ radiators. Hoovered and dusted. Bathrooms cleaned.

Nice-ish dog walk . But our lovely field is going to be houses at some point and was being dug up today and the most beautiful tree which I love in all seasons has been chopped right down. That made me a bit sad!

Text from friend to say mobile library was there. New day for a trial. A Monday instead of a Friday. And I'd missed it on Friday as I was at optician/ wrapping empty boxes ! A book I'd ordered was in. So I have a pile to get through though not really reading much just now.

Going to join in the OS positivity. :)

    1) making good on my allotment

    2) mending my gardening gloves

    3) homemade Bolognaise sauce made all the better for a bag of red wine I found in the freezer

    4) watching Lego Masters with all my family

    5) having to time to relax this evening, content on my bed with essential oils diffusing.
  • 1 Leftover soup from yesterday’s parade had cous cous added to make it lunch, while the tea tonight slowly cooks in the oven it’s a casserole with a bit of everything.
2 Made the jelly, not my favourite part trying to get it set, but this one set very easily.
3 I posted on here asking for mixer recommendations after our cheapie fell apart and invested in a 2nd hand, its wonderful I swear it’s been used every day since, I used it today to bash up my dried rosemary to go into the casserole
4 Animals all being very cute.
5 I’ve bought seriously soft fleece from George at asda to wrap up DH’s surprise leg0 train in, and I’m wondering if the train may become a new festive tradition.
6 I’ve applied for a couple of roles and refreshed and got the CV back out.

    Busy day today.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Did various jobs round the house then fed the hens.

    3) Bigger son went to work at the garage. Smaller son is still in isolation at school though I doubt he or the staff can actually remember what for now, it's been that long... Another 6 days of lessons missed in his GCSE year. The door being blocked and the threat of restraint from a staff member has not been mentioned; my email has not received a reply.

    4) Had a job interview! It's the first interview for a job I've really wanted for long time (over a year - obviously I've done other bits in the meantime). It was at the Carpet Museum in carpet town and I did my usual umming and ahing with a suddenly croaky voice - I am absolutely rubbish at interviews. I doubt very much that I have got it, unless there was something terribly wrong with the other applicants.

    5) Went round town quickly then to Carphone Warehouse to negotiate my new phone contract (kept old phone, knocked off about £15 per month). Popped to Sainsburys. Have had £15 to live off for the past 6 days so bought £5 of petrol and got apples and pasta with my nectar point vouchers.

    6) Got in touch with the SEN man at college and will be seeing him tomorrow to discuss smaller son's transition next year. Hope they are bracing themselves! Also found his EHCP and other paperwork ready.

    7) Had meatballs from the freezer for tea with cauliflower rice (also frozen, glad to find Tesco do it as Sainsburys don't).

    8) Bigger son showed me his drawer of treasures and did some reading from his old diaries, which is always funny.

    9) Can't get smaller son to do his homework (which he has had for a week and I've been reminding him about approx. every 2 hours for that week) so I've come to bed with 1hwb and am looking forward to 24 Hours in A and E and something else good afterwards - First Dates?

Lots of pleasures today - so here goes

    1) Left home at 8.45 this morning to visit ddil and grandchildren. Two and a half hours and 3 buses later I arrived.

    2) The third bus I get is a double decker bus and I always sit up top. Not the easiest option with my dodgy knees but will keep doing this as long as I can. A bit of childhood excitement revisited.

    3) I always have coffee from my flask and a cracker and cheese on the third bus. While not eating or watching the scenery, I read my book called The Choice about a 16 yo girl who goes to Auschwitz.

    4) Once off the bus I tackled the last part of the journey that is a very steep hill that takes me 10 minutes to ascend. Of course their house is at the top.

    5) Another coffee with ddil and then a quick lunch before I leave to collect dgs (3) from nursery as ddil is recovering from a stomach bug. By this time it was pouring.

    6) While walking to nursery I slid on the wet leaves and fell. One of those slow motion falls that you can do nothing about but go with the flow. I ended up lying flat in the mud. Good thing about this was I did not hurt myself and nobody was about to see me.

    7) Arrived to collect dgs and the look of pure joy on his face made me forget all about my muddy encounter. Walking back with dgs in the pouring rain took forever especially when there's lots of puddles to splash in. I didn't have the heart to tell him to hurry.

    8) Set off 2 hours later ( after sponging and partially drying trousers and jacket) for older grandchildren. Back down the hill a different way to try to avoid falling. At 3pm dgd (5) came running down the ramp and threw herself into my arms. Could I be any happier? Then dgs saunters over. He's 8 and being "cool" but I could see the pleasure in his face.

9)They both look expectantly at my bag for they know I always have a treat for them. The home baked cakes with chocolate, cherries and sultanas lived up to their expectations. Then we walked back via the park where they both had a great time climbing up a rope thingy. Glad the rain was off by then. All the way back they chatted and gave me all their news. Heaven.

    10) After helping with their homework, we had dinner and then watched Shrek on tv. Me sitting sandwiched between the two older grandchildren while the youngest ran about.

    11) 7.15 and it's time for me to leave. Cuddles and goodbyes before setting off back down the hill again for the 6th time. I have my hot chocolate and biscuit on the second bus while reading my book. I arrive home just before 10pm. Exhausted but happy.

When I started writing this I was passing time till my electric blanket heated. Now I am just trying to get the energy to move xx
