BoP is out and about today.
Normal dissertations will resume on FryDay.0 -
1) Coffee out with a friend this morning and a lovely long chat and put the world to rights.
2) Popped in to the charity shop she works in and got an 80%wool 3/4 length winter coat for £5 and a few other bargains.
3) Trip to Aldi this afternoon where I got the bits and bobs I needed and some Christmas goodies along with a couple of lovely presents for the girls.
4) Cup of tea out at the garden centre on the way home as HWK fancied one where I found another couple of nice presents for the girls.
5) The drive home in the dusk and arriving here and feeling that 'home and glad to be so' feeling, pulling the curtains against the night and settling down to catch up here.0 -
Evening all - lovely to catch up on all your pleasures.
Good luck with job applications, Mhags and Frith and ouch, Lainey and Plumduff.
my recent pleasures
1. beautiful autumn colours - i seem to be coping with the nights drawing in and it isn't long before they start to draw out again :rotfl: (always a glass half full)
2. Lovely weekend in ICT - DS to myself for one night and then he left and OH arrived. Did a glorious and new walk - we don't have many new things to do there so it was good to get something.
3. African film festival at the cinema. I may go to the Grindelwald film on sunday as i am back in ICT tomorrow.
4. Eating vegetarian food - am really trying to cut down on the meat. i have only had two lots for about 10 days now. have had a little fish though.
5. DS has all but made the decision to leave his degree. This is a pleasure as he is really hating it and we have been very worried about him. he has arranged some open days to look at something else. He's even agreed to let me accompany him.. :T
6. Cracking on with work - slower than I'd like but still cracking on.
That'll do for a catch up post - have a nice evening chapsI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Bedtime.
Busy day. Got myself a new job. Start a week on Monday. Hurrah! I don't think it's a forever job but it's a for now job.
Call to say specs were in . hurrah! So went there first. Ordered a second pair for 1/2 price and just reading prescription rather than varifocals.
Did shift. Turns out person I'm working with I briefly did years ago. She's very different. Maybe I am too! Quite enjoyed it. Met a friend.
Went to kitchen supplier. Finally got the bits needed for splash back. Third replacement door damaged! At least I checked it in store.
Picked up a duvet set I'd ordered for DD1.
Home! Electrician had been & gone. Lighting all done...shame about the plasterer who hadn't been in touch! Called builder & he had a good ol' moan!
Washing in, almost dry. Ironed.
Made mince & potatoes.
Call with new job offer.
Work was fine. Apart from the wind and the rain! Three more nights to go.0 -
Well done on the new job, MHags!
How far through your degree is your son, VJsmum?
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) I don't know about a pleasure but an interesting (slightly terrifying) development. No further forward with school; smaller son refused to go once again. In desperation, emailed one of the governors who I know very vaguely from the old days as she is a district councillor and I used to work for that council. I rambled on a bit and said how various new techniques and rules are not pleasant and that they affect the SEND pupils badly. Then talked about smaller son, the near restraining incident, the isolation and other bits.
I always think I am making a fuss about nothing. Within 5 minutes a very shocked email pinged back from the governor and I had to just confirm/clarify a few details and she said she would be in touch with school. Have been out and about all day (OK, and too scared to answer the phone) and have had one email, 6 missed calls and 2 answering machine messages from school and they want to talk to me tomorrow...
3) Bigger son was only in college this afternoon so we went to pick up his fancy dress costume this morning. He makes a good Spiderman!
4) Sat in Sainsburys nursing a cup of tea while bigger son went to college as he only had an hour long tutorial. He was reminded he has a teacher training day tomorrow (we'd forgotten about that).
5) Got home and a parcel had arrived. Its a bit more of my cutlery farce. My sister wanted some vintage pastry forks for Christmas or some of the tiny silver coffee spoons that have a pretend coffee bean at the end of the handle. I ended up bidding for various lots on Ebay and somehow ended up with a nice set of forks in a box, another better set of forks (no box), a set of EPNS apostle spoons, some nice silver apostle spoons and a set of coffee bean spoons!
6) Made baked potatoes for tea with cheese and beans then bigger son made some brownies.
7) Smaller son has been more like his old self this evening and completed 2 pieces of maths homework.
8) Forgot all about the plasterer! He arrived this morning and replastered above the new front door. He was very thorough (slow!) so we had to leave him here in the end. We got back and he has done a good job of the replastering AND was obviously fed up of tripping on the loose quarry stone tile bit of the step as he has mended it and concreted it into place!
9) In bed now with 1 hwb.
10) Teacher training day for bigger son tomorrow so we are going to dismantle his shed, take it to the allotment then go to my sister's to cut her shed to the right size before collecting it tomorrow.0 -

. I'm struggling with my emotions at the moment and can't think of any positivity. I'm wanting to take a step back from online interactions just now and can't think of anything positive or pleasurable to talk to you all about but I am thankful that you all can and it's lovely to come on here for a catch up to read about simple exchanges in your lives that are little nuggets of warmth.0

Good Morning
Fuddle I always think Fuddle sounds like welcome in Arabic. You are always welcome here.....((hugs)).
Frith Hope this morning goes well. Just remember to ask if member of staff is trained in 'restraint'. When I had to go to a meeting about DS2 being asked to leave college, I listened to what they had to say, then quietly reminded them that his EHCP would need to be changed if he was going to leave..........clearly they had forgotten he has one! Everything changed at that point, and they couldn't put enough in place to support him :rotfl:
Recently in no particular order.
1. 6th form students have finished converting an old piano into a desk. I am very proud of them.
2. DD enjoying her India adventure.
3. Someone found a ring I had lost and I have it back. :j
4. Saw my first Christmas tree in someone's house. Made me smile.
5. Coming home, of an evening, to a fire in the log burner.
That was really difficult. (Not many pleasures at work).
Have a lovely day0 -
