  • Happy Birthday from me too BoP :bdaycake:
And Pride and Prejudice - what a lovely idea DfV! I think I still have my copy but it's many years (at least 30!) since I read it

-Really lovely (if exhausting!) weekend with a full house

    - quite nice to get back to normal last night too with the house to ourselves :rotfl:

-Had an ER omnibus binge lat night - I didn't watch it at all the first time round but I'm really enjoying it :)

    - I'm giving up my garden waste bin and going to have a try at getting rid of/using all garden waste in the garden, and Friday is the last collection, so gives me a push to get as much in it as possible to give me a head start!

-Looking forward to having a bit more space in 'bin corner' too, as I'm aiming for bags of leaves making leaf mould and I'm going to store the larger branches under a plastic sheet to burn on the fire pit once they dry out
I feel like I'm going a bit 'Good Life' being as we live in a modern house on an estate :rotfl::rotfl:

    Sunday pleasures,

Woke early when still dark so first cuppa with little dog cuddles.

The woodpecker has discovered the delights of the suet filled coconut shell, fun to watch him swinging upside down.

Full roast dinner, inhaled by hollowlegged one in 10 minutes flat, his contented sigh as he sat back was thanks enough.

Supposedly reading but mainly dozing on the sofa.

Watched the Bobby programme about the lovely Bobby Moore, didn’t realise just how badly he had been treated by WH & the FA :( followed by Dragons Den and finally the Louis Theroux programme which was a bit  at times.

Many happy returns of the day BOP!
  • Drink at cosy pub on railway station.

    Husband chatty.

    Watching trains.

    Seeing a black Labrador.

    Sitting next to the fire.
  • My [STRIKE]five[/STRIKE] six for yesterday:

    1. Had a good night's sleep - made such a big difference NOT having a 'squirmy 2yr old' in the bed with me ;)! I was torn between making sure I 'didn't roll onto him' OR 'fall of the edge of my rather high bed' - can't get up again, once I hit the floor :rotfl:.

    2. Didn't have to wait very long for the bus into Liverpool for the 'Food Fair Day 2' - this time I was pushing my 'wally trolley', instead of a 'wobble-wheel pushchair' ;)! Tried to use my walking-stick, but it was more trouble than it was worth with the trolley :(.

    3. Managed to get to listen to some of the Speakers that I was hoping to - one on 'Coping with IBS at Christmas' and another was a demonstration on how to 'Bake Gluten Free Bread'. Got some 'Doves' Farm Bread Mixes' at 3 for £5 (reduced from usual price). At the end of the show, I went to get some more bread from 'Schar' and found that they had doubled the offer to 'Two of everything for £10' and then they threw in a pack of their 'Basic GF Flour Mix' for me as well - wow!!!!! On the way out of the arena, I was given a 'Warburtons Artisan Sour Dough Loaf' for free (normally £3.20) :T. The Wally Trolley was bursting at the seams :j.

    4. Journey back home was on a very crowded bus, so I hopped off and popped into a Costa on the edge of Liverpool to pass an hour or so till the buses had quietened down a bit. So relaxing away from the centre of the city, the crowds of the Food Fair and the crush of the bus :). Treated myself to a Black Forest Hot Chocolate and a GF Mince Pie while I played a word game on my kindle - BLISS! Even got 'double points' on a Christmas Drinks promotion :j! Rest of the journey home was much better at the 2nd attempt :D.

    5. Not at all hungry when I got home - I wonder why :o! Made sandwiches with meat from the Ham Shank for supper .

    6. Put the SC on overnight with the Yellow Split Pea Soup in it. Cooked beauitfully when I got up this morning :j.

I've not had such a hectic weekend for a very long time - I'm a rather shattered Ollie today, but soon get myself sorted ;)!
  • V Cannot believe I has pulled another one off and got 4 and a half more than Mums BoP! No trainset yet, but while I is amongst the flock, there is hope! Cake is diminishing fast! Nice. Soon it will be crumbs!

4 In BoP’s packed lunch box today we has the usual toms and cucumber, pork pie, oranges in blackcurrant jelly! Mint penguin and a special mini roll as it is me birthday!

3 And it is a treble this year as well!

2 last night watched another film, this time had Forest Gump directing! That thing you do.

Having a birthday cake later, that’s one! So one for DD in HEX I am a teenager, but in decimal I still am! What age am I?

Life has become a shot on a dartbored!
  • My five for today are;

    1) I had a great sleep in my own bedroom with the new mattress.

    2) I'm so grateful for my bus pass. I got the local bus into a nearby town to get the express bus to Edinburgh. I enjoyed reading my book and having coffee from a flask during the journey.

    3) I met a friend and walked along Princes Street to a restaurant for lunch. We walked around the Poppy Memorial Garden - it was very moving. I'm rarely in Edinburgh but hoping to go again soon to visit the Christmas market.

    4) I got home at five and felt chilled to the bone so first stop was a hot, warming bath.

    5) Watching tv and knitting for the rest of the evening.

Wish I wasn't sitting in my pjs as I'd be out watching the fireworks but just too tired xx

Happy birthday Pirate Pete I too have had cake!

It's been a mixed bag of a day.

We had hospital first thing. Finally after driving round about 4 times got a parking space. Met a friend as she was coming out so had a quick chat with her. In to clinic a bit early and taken early. Quite big discussions. Lots to be mulled over by DD. Thank goodness for our NHS

Went into town. I went charity shopping. She went 'proper' shopping. I got a couple of jumpers and a skirt and a nice big wrap/ shawl. Also got some lovely birthday cards. Guess who had change from a tenner...guess who didn't!

Wrote cards for DD1 birthday and Haggis and I walked down to postbox.

My girl has done her degree part of her course. Despite all the crap life has thrown at her throughout it all. She's done it. But sadly doesn't get a certificate yet as she's doing a combined masters of education/ degree so won't get anything till she's completed her masters. So her mother has made her a special certificate!

The bittersweet-ness of knowing how proud her dad would be and having to be proud enough for the both of us. We had chocolate cake (RTC in M&S)

No work today. Nice to be off. Feet up and I'm in front of the telly for the night. Candles are lit and it's all very cosy.

Nibbly bits for tea. So no cooking.

It's stayed dry but in a kind of damp way. Had washing out but didn't do much! All hung on clothes horses and radiators.

    Quick chat with sister.
  • Happy Birthday BOP.

1 Numerous washing loads, the house looks like a washer house all radiators in use, and I am tackling the backlog in the dryer.
2 The fireworks thankfully don’t affect the animals here, they don’t take a blind bit of notice.
3 Dinner was leftover bits made into a pasta bake, I need to diet and exercise again as it feels like I need to get back on track.:)
4 The house is vaguely feeling under control, still a lot of things to be sold or moved on but definite progress. Though sometimes it doesn’t feel it, I moved a bag of stuff to be burnt, and DH immediately used the space cleared for one of his new projects, ah well wouldn’t change it. :)

5 I’ve got a bag of clothes to be binned fraid they are past it, very old jumpers tried on but have been washed to many times now.

    Happy birthday, BoP.

    Pleasures for today (Monday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Got smaller son to school, which was looking unlikely.

    3) Hens OK and spent half an hour or so with them, cleaned the sleeping quarters out.

    4) Bigger son had done all the washing up when I got back as his work was cancelled today.

    5) We went to Ludlow but sadly were called away. Smaller son had had a set to with another boy then when his specialist autism teacher tried to talk to him, tried to escape, pushing the teacher out of the way in the process :-/ So I had to pick him up at lunchtime and he'll be in isolation until Friday.

    6) Bigger son made korma using the "takeaway" recipe and that was a triumph!

    7) New door is being fitted tomorrow so I took some photos of the old one - mouldy, leaky and with draughts howling through the edges!
  • Monday pleasures

Dry quite warm day - did not need my thermal vest :T

Went into town - managed to get 3/4 tasks done & one of them resulted in £50 in my pocket :T:D

DH’s garage is beginning to look a bit tidier :)

One of our fox visitors is partial to monkey nuts - Under cover of darkness he lifts the lid of the feeder & helps himself :rotfl: no wonder the squirrels are upset in the morning

Eggs, bacon, mushrooms & oven chips for dinner - yummilicious
