  • Today my pleasures are;

    1) Horrible wet day so very happy to stay at home pottering about.

    2) Spent the morning looking at my photo albums. The most up to date one is January 2017 so I then started choosing photos on the iPad from 2017 onwards to have printed. I have 150 so far and not finished yet. Great morning.

    3) My friend came this afternoon and we researched/ planned for our forthcoming trip next month. Very exciting.

    4) Dinner was from the freezer - homemade curry kebabs, tomato sauce and rice followed by chocolate sauce pudding.

    5) I'm watching Strictly now and will be watching the film "Brooklyn" afterwards. One of my 50p dvds from the car boot.

For such a horrible wet day - I've had a lovely day xx

  • Mine for yesterday and today:

    Friday -
    1. Got two loads of laundry done and out onto the line for a bit of a blow using the new clothes prop :j.
    2. Visit from Mobile Hairdresser - now 'nicely shorn' ;).
    3. Planned a quiet day to relax after Nathan-sitting and before weekend 'Free From Food Fair' - Oh dear - what is it that they say about 'The best laid plans of mice and men - or Ollie' ;)? 13.05 got a phone call from Housing Association to ask if I could help out with a 'Tenant's Inspector Check' in the next town - they could pick-me up at 14.00 ................... wasn't actually even planning to get DRESSED - never mind go out in a 'working capacity'. I actually enjoy doing these Tenant's Involvement Visits - lots of them are the kind of thing that I did before retirement.
    4. 14.30 phone call from DS2 - could I have DGS5 for an overnighter plus all day Saturday (today) - yoiks - another plan scuppered! They've actually got no water in the kitchen - in fact, they've got no kitchen at all, at the moment and had a Plasterer coming Saturday morning. Last thing they needed was a 'lively two year old' running rampant in the house.
    5. Got back from Housing Visit around 15.30 and DS2 arrived around 16.00 complete with DGS5 and rucksack :rotfl:.
    6. DGS5 in bed by 21.00 - asleep in 15mins - phew! Luckily - and for the first time ever for me - he slept right through the night.
    7. Put the SC on overnight with two Ham Shanks in it - smelled delicious around 3.00am when I did the 'pit stop run' ;)!

    For today:
    1. Set up the SC again with some of the cooked Shank from last night plus potatoes, 2 onions, a leek, carrots, half a swede, 3 sticks of celery, 3 outside leaves from savoy cabbage, herbs, stock cubes and half of the Ham Stock from cooking the Shanks.
    2. Decided to have a go at taking 'The Bobster' to the Food Fair with me - and to be honest, he was well-behaved and caused much hilarity on the bus into Liverpool by shouting Hello and Goodbye to every bus that we passed :rotfl:. Can tell he's not used to travelling on a bus ;).
    3. Lots of freebies and samples at the Food Fair and met up with some friends that I'd sent the information to as well. The husband had discovered that the samples of Gluten Free Beer were very delicious and 5% volume - luckily SHE was driving :D! He also discovered one of those 'wobble exercise machines' ...................... not sure if it was before or after the GF Beer ;).
    4. Managed to buy some items on sale at the Fair at far less than usual prices - now in freezer :j.
    5. Freezing cold by the time we came out and headed for the bus station, but had to get off the bus to go into Lidl for some loo rolls (how we got down to the last half-roll, I'll never know :undecided.
    6. Called into McD's with Bobby to get him a Happy Meal while I had a very nice Caramel Latte .
    7. Had lovely chat with DDiL when she came to collect Bobby and she brought DGS4 (Billy age 10) with her. They've got concerns about him and had him to the GP this week - possible ADHD/ODD (aaargh another Nathan!) though he doesn't have 'learning difficulties' like Nathan has.
    8. OH and I have had two bowls each of 'Shank Scouse' for evening meal . Remainder is now in old Margarine Tubs and cooling down for the freezer stocks :j.

Just in from work. Soaked through to the skin. Sitting with a blanket round me and stripped off clothes in wash! Going for a hot shower.

It was a ghastly night. Heavy rain from almost start of shift.

Before all that there were meringues made and taken round to my mums for her birthday. Also did the birthday ironing and the birthday hoovering! Son sorted the birthday computer problem. And DD2 did the birthday dishes.

Was up early with dog but went back to bed for a bit.

Sorted my car insurance. Almost half of what current insurer was suggesting! So that was my first weeks pay taken care of!

  • Morning :)

    My 5 pleasures

    - Going to the bonfire and amazing fireworks with the beautiful Tewkesbury Abbey as a back drop, just lovely - and glad we were standing on the side away from the wind!

    - Really lovely get together afterwards - mum is nearly 80 and gets stressed but is the only one who has room for all of us now our kids are grown and have partners, and thankfully we managed to convince her that she really didn't need to do anything, she could watch Strictly (she couldn't face the crowds at the bonfire) and then we'd all bring food with us, sort out tables etc and clear up afterwards! And we all had such a lovely time :)

    - Talked holidays too - early days but a plan is forming for next summer :j

    - Decided not to read this month's book club book as I'm finding it hard going and a little depressing, so that was a weight off my mind - back to the set of Morse books I've been lent! :D. I then read a synopsis online which confirmed I'd made the right decision for me :)

    - The windy day was good drying weather thankfully as DD brought a couple of loads back with her on top of the load I already had to do  - funny how quickly I've got used to it being just the 2 of us and minimal washing! :rotfl:

I'm doing roast dinner for 7 today, half veggie half commited meat eaters today :D, no rest for the wicked!! It's a treat having us all together though so I'm going to make sure I appreciate it :):)

    Saturday pleasures,

Bit of a lie-in followed by boiled egg with dippy marmite soldiers.

Sitting with a pad & pen to start making a list for the C word, looks like it will just be the two of us so not much needed but good to make a start.

Made some chocolate muffins and didn’t realise until I had mixed all the other ingredients that I had run out of baking powder, there was SR flour in the recipe so baked them anyway and they turned out fine.

Mild, dry day so time spent outside clearing up leaves, my little patio rose has tiny yellow buds on it, never seen it flower so late.

Stood in the garden for a while in the evening watching the various firework displays across the fields, little dog not bothered at all and was busy investigating what was under the hedge, lovely and clear with lots of stars.

Good Morning......a bit of a lie in for me :j

Ollie My Dad Used to make a big pan of soup on a saturday night, using the broth from the ham hock. We would have it when Mum and Dad got back from the pub.

PD I hope you enjoyed Brooklyn. We saw it at the cinema and really liked it. Bought it for MiL as it reminded her of coming to England in the 1950's :o

    Yesterday

    1. Builders arrived to start demolishing the utility walls. Scary thought, but I'm sure it will be fine!

    2. Full English breakfast.

    3. Friend gave me a lift to conference as part of uni Science Festival. Excellent speakers and thought provoking content. Glad we gave up our Saturday, but sad for the organisers, that many of the people who registered did not turn up. ( DD Did not take a box for left over food :o).

    4. Saturday night treat of Chinese takeaway and a glass of wine.

    5. Coco (the film), and sewing a square of my quilt, to keep me awake.

    Have a lovely day :)
