Mhags. Sprouts! No. Not proper food!
V Oh yeah, the downgrade by IT last day has …
The rest of this missive from BoP has been lost in the ether and is probably somewhere on &’s putah!
4 Off to the jacket shop for new jacket after lunch. Question is do I need a hood. Will be used on the next Tour of BoP! Details soon, eyes peeled!
3 Just bins to the new van of burgers down the pond from the mill! Proper cooked fresh and was well tasty! Don’t go round telling BoPsie! Good for you and far better than cheese on toast!
2 Night BoP is inn town and will be on the big Warster train later. Note to Ms LW. I understand that Tommy is in SainsBugs on Glawster Quays!
Having one tonight, details later!
Ha, you had too as well!0 -
Hello everybody, :hello:. Mine for yesterday -
1. Had a good night's sleep and woke up feeling 'lively' for a change :T.
2. My bus came very quickly after 9.30am (bus pass time :j), so I wasn't too late.
3. A 2nd day of Nathan-sitting _pale_. Decided to get him involved with 'planning our shopping trip. I needed to buy Ham Shanks from one of two different shops in the Town Centre, some decent quality vegetables (making Shank Stew and Yellow Split Pea & Ham Soup this weekend), some gluten free bread things plus something for lunch. I told him that I wanted to go into as few shops as possible, with as little walking as possible (couple of supermarkets are a bit of a trek from the bus stop) and not have to 'over-pay' - let's call it a 'Lesson in Logistics'!
4. Nathan suggested a visit into Morrisons - on the way into the Town Centre first. Turned into a brilliant  - Morrisons actually had bigger Ham Shanks than those at the other places we'd seen on Tuesday plus they were CHEAPER :T. I didn't even know that they sold them. Plus the veg that I needed were all on some kind of 'price reduction' - so we didn't even NEED to go anywhere else :j. Got a GF loaf at reduced price and some lovely GF Sausages for Sausages Butties for lunch :rotfl:.
5. Had time for a lovely chat with DD when she got home from College - poor girl was shattered and her Steel Toe-Cap Boots were hurting her feet. She said they're a size 8 - but they recommend getting a size bigger to accommodate a thick pair of socks. I'm sure there's a pair of size 9's in 'MY' charity shop - so may take a trip up there later today to check.
6. HM GF Lasagne for evening meal for me and HM Chicken Rogan Josh with Naan Bread and Pakoras (bought on whoopsie and frozen).0 -
pirate Pete love sprouts! Have just been and replenished my stock!
I'm only half way through the day. But I've just had an email from my tax accountant with some welcome news. So that's made me feel much lighter.
Have returned 3 faulty doors. I'm trying to sort out new room as best I can when it still needs replastered and 3 faulty doors along the wall were annoying me. The glass splash back doodah. I feel no love for the lady I'm dealing with. I'm sure it's reciprocal. I'm polite she's polite back. I've been talking to my colleagues and we think you should just buy a pack of washers. Well, I've paid a large sum of money and I think I should have the full kit thank you very much, please deal with it for me! The three sets of lighting ( electrician didn't want to use them) are incomplete so only refunded for one set. Have emailed builder who took box of fixtures and fittings away last week to please look and see. It's £150 worth!!
Went to l!dl and shared some love and handed out some £5 off vouchers. We are giving them away at work. People were delighted! Went round with my calculator so I was almost spot on.
Just going to walk my dog, have some lunch and then consider work!
Enjoy your day0 -
What ho midears! RL has been happening, rather.
Mrs KW - rousing cheers on young love formalising it!
Frith - you are a wonderful parent - taking a son to Birmingham, so he can happily fossick in the Apple store is a superbly generous gift of time & love. Not least as they never seem to have chairs. Love that Sainsburys ticks the box for a "proper sit down lunch" - aww.
villagelife - we had the chance to speak out about what was wrong at work, and while it was cathartic to spew it out, I don't trust the powers that be to Do Anything as they haven't before.
LaineyT - the (puny) upside of having Capt S away is you appreciate him more.
DundeeDoll - argh that's a wonderfully bad maths joke!
ampersand - a triumphant return - Hurrah! And all clear - OhThankHeavens.
mhagster - may plasterer do your bidding promptly. And doors & doodahs appear promptly. Giving away £5 vouchers? Rightly feeling the love!
Olliebeak - oh my, Nathan on the roof on a sugar rush - ulp! Came up trumps with Morrisons though!
Mrs SD - well done to your OH for his pumpkin carving - our scouts butchered their pumpkins happily.
Hopeless case - I'm all for pumpkin soup, but one that pulls faces at me?! Ulp.
house elf - when we were last in IKEA, we very nearly went amok amongst the napkins! A clean dog is worth the effort as it tends to include cleaning the bathroom...
VJsmum - ooh fresh out of the oven sourdough - yum!
MandM90 - hurrah reinstating the fireplace!
plumduff - "a whole load of towels nearly dried" is So British!
OS Pleasures recently
If you are going to buy a large stuffed toy, you need a sense of humour to get to the till. The chap I saw carried the multicoloured fluffy thing (unicorn?) with great panache & a huge smile - if you are going to look utterly ridiculous, he showed, do it with style!
Rousing cheers for the return of Jordan Cox to MSE Towers (& Martin for a shining example of being a good boss to work for) - some of my scouts online at the Jamboree on the Internet are scrunching on crisps free with a voucher from Tesco!
Husband cheering the top 10 Biscuits, yelling as the chocolate digestive is revealed as the Sun readers' number 1 biscuit.... Fortunately he agrees. And hates himself for enjoying such brainless tv.
Clocked "John Jules" in my peripheral newsfeed & Miword - the Cat (as I know him) is dancing Strictly! And appears to be making a very cheerful & competent paw of the Jive, too.
Playmobil do advent calendars. This is a happy thought. The odds of me persuading my family to get me one are less happy, but the idea is glorious.
There are times when a son endeavours to teach his mother to cook, today noodles. Honestly, what does he think I learned in four years at university?! (Clearly not cooking I agree, but I can cope with noodles!)
Oh dear gods. Eldest thinks Poldark went into politics to do good, while Caesar was nicknamed "the balding adulterer" by his adoring troops. Frankly, the Italians' choice of politicians has me bemused - the seem to value the strangest attributes.
"Eat up or I'll eat all your custards!" - oh dear. My threats have reached toddler level. [Still worked.]
Office security manned after 18 tonne wagon missed the gap & hit the security gate control block. Oops!
I'm not sure I want to believe but oh dear heavens it's possible:
"Sgt! It appears to be stuck" "Have you tried a screwdriver sir?" "Don't appear to have one Sgt" "Try knocking it against the side of the vehicle sir" "Mmm..still stuck I'm afraid Sgt" "Here sir. Let me have a go......There you are sir. Sorted" "Thank you Sgt. Tricky things Coke cans". - Overheard somewhere near Salisbury.
You know faces fall on bad news? I'm grinning at son's voice falling several tones when he called me wanting a lift home, to find I'm still in another county & pedestrian to boot!
Oh the Moon! Glorious! Too much cloud for me to see Orionids but the Moon was so glorious I didn't mind.
"Oh Belgium, first you invent baked goods then genocide" - listening to Child studying history can be disconcerting.
Hm, as a herb enthusiast I have grown chervil. I am now taught that the ladies of ladysmith rendered down horse meat into a local variant on bovril & called it chervil in the 1900s.
Colleague face timed son recovering from a seizure & immediately "got" that he was only there in body. When he could message her, she carried the good word to the rest of his colleagues.
Child asked if he was getting the flu jab so "No, I'm young. And invulnerable." A certain amount of derision met this but his point was the vulnerable should have it, not him.
Lad on the train has a stuffed toy in his bag. "Aww you softie" observes his mum. Me, I wistfully think a soft toy would be really comforting right now & could I borrow it for a cuddle. (I *know* today will be difficult.) [Could have been worse!]
"Gin is my favourite spirit" seen on a T shirt. Hm... (Me for the tonic water in preference, and fever tree if possible.)
Family meeting had some glorious moments, including revelation coz & family regard Strictly as Mandatory Collective Family Viewing, hence he had to leave very punctually. [I've not even started Dr.Who yet, shame on me.]
Roast pork dinner. It is a real pleasure to be married to a good cook! And since I sluiced out a few pans as he cooked, I'm excused the remaining washing up.
Oh gods, driver again for a trip with son & once again he hasn't called ahead & confirmed.... His mate & I are frankly giggling together, and speculating what the girls would have said.
Suddenly son with long hair doesn't look as shocking - landlord & flat mates also all well past collar length & some unexpected chat about the merits of argan oil. (Fewer than the hype makes out, I think, preferring olive oil m'self.)
And on the last day of October, Halloween costumes were massively discounted & the baubles stacked onto the shelves.... Humbug to the lot of them!
Sending a vigorously worded email to a colleague who is taking foolish risks hopefully in ignorance. It's made three others laugh but they agree it is Clear!
Son is doing soup & laundry. I trust him not to wash a tin of oxtail & serve a bowl of t shirt in soap, but speculation is part of the fun. [He got the laundry on but forgot the rest!]
Victoria Coren-Mitchell is just one of those pleasures I could blather on about. An intelligent woman with a sense of humour who isn't rammed into any height/weight ratio. Awed!
Oh my word the weekend is here & that means more driving with furniture. Eldest has moved out and we are working quite hard not to twitch too much. Meanwhile, health, strength, love, courage, & thermal underclothing to all as have need!0 -
well if i had to write 5 things that went wrong today that would be easy. But instead let's smile sweetly and focus on the good things
1) chicken pasta salad for lunch
2) met up with friends at the pub after work. one friend had his arm in plaster having fallen down the steps at an airport coming home , but seems to have mastered the art of holding a pint in his left hand
3) beautiful all saints service
4) then nice chat with people after the service
5) then lift home very welcome since rain started
(there, no mention of computer refusing to go on internet or not being able to get vanity fair to play on stv)
PS hooray it works on explorer, just not chrome. episode 4 coming upMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Friday).
1) A lie in!
2) Spent an hour with the hens. They enjoyed a bit of last night's macaroni cheese.
3) Bigger son came home from work (garage job) and had been spray painting a fence - and his face! Looked like he'd had a spray tan.
4) Went to look round the charity shops but nothing today.
5) Fish and chips from the van.
6) House a bit tidier and cleaned the bathroom, which was becoming vital.
7) Have been sitting in bed watching GBBO: Extra Slice and the Last Leg.0 -
Good Morning Folks,
Yesterday
1. Craft show at NEC. Happily wandered around all day. Made a coaster. Bought a few bits and pieces.
2. Lunch at Resorts world. £5 pizza at Pizza Express, (Thanks to o2). Friend got a couple of advent calendars. Spent enough to get our parking for £2 all day! (NEC parks were charging £16 ).
3. Quick tea from the freezer, which everyone ate.
4. Friday film was Avengers.
5. WhatsApp from DD. She sounds happy.
Have a lovely day0 -
Morning
- Lovely evening out with both DDs and DD2's BF last night - will have 'full house' for bonfire and fireworks at Tewkesbury Abbey tonight as DS and GF are also coming :j:j
- we're calling in at my mum's house after for chilli and jackets and it's scary to realise there are now 7 of us, so it's quite a big deal when we descend on someone 'as a family':eek::heartsmil
- Coiled springer is getting better each day which is a relief, hopefully his cone can come off after after he has his check up on Friday :j
- Back on track this month with budgets and challenges etc, feels good after losing the plot a bit in dog crisis! :rotfl::rotfl:
- Not so bitingly cold this morning which is a relief!0 -
My five for yesterday were;
1) Up early and away to X-ray department for it opening at 8.30. I was third so all done and back home for 10. We are so lucky having the NHS.
2) Pottering about the rest of the morning doing November budgets and organising freezer.
3) Sewing in the afternoon and actually finished my first Christmas stocking - I have another 6 half made 😳
4) Went to mums for dinner and enjoyed haggis, neeps and tatties with HP sauce. Then to top it all a Tunnocks tea cake 😋
5) I walked back in the freezing dark to my lovely warm home and had the perfect evening. Watching tv while knitting.
A good day xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Friday pleasures,
Toasted cinnamon bagel for breakfast.
Lesson on lovely horse, dodgy knee meant pole work limited to only 20 minutes but pleasure of dropping stirrups right down and riding long around the fields.
Extra horse one, the second I removed her head collar off she charged off into her paddock, bucking and bronking as she went, pleasure of knowing that six months ago she would have done that with me on board, my girlie is growing up at last :j
Trip to farmshop and chat with butcher, their seasonal barn opens this weekend and he is now taking Yule orders.
Eldest hollow legged one had an evening off coaching so was at home, he groaned then laughed a lot at GBBO, same with Gogglebox and finished the evening with Last Leg.0
