5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

I'm having a 10 minute rest before people start arriving for the 'official opening of the extension!' It's not quite even finished though should have been by now !
Just after I posted last night DD2 texted me . Horror of a night as it seemed she'd had her drinks spiked. Whether with more alcohol though I think going by symptoms with a drug. This was at 10.15pm. I'd literally dropped her off at 8.45pm. She didn't want to go to hospital but was hallucinating / vomiting ....with me screeching not in the car! Had her in my bed and the blooming dog decided he wanted to be with us too. So no one apart from Haggis slept very well. She's been fine today but it was just horrific. And for all we tell kids not to leave drinks unattended we don't tell parents what to do.
So I'm slightly crabby today as I've not had enough sleep!
Very brief chat with DD1, who was very upset about her sister but was going to her graduation ball...though she's not quite graduating as her course is a combined masters, so she still has to do that part. But well done her and all she has been through!
House is tidy. Washing was mostly dried on line. DD2 ironed.
I've had my friend's daughter here since 1pm. We went down to our woods. It's been a stunningly blue skied day though blooming cold! Had a lovely walk.
Most of food is prepped for tonight. Realised my favourite large dish doesn't fit in new ovens. Friends daughter has written suitably spooky name cards for food.
My dog. His love. His constancy...even though he's been under my feet all afternoon as there's food around! Doing the time warp with him...he does love a dance!
Looking forward to seeing friends who were last here for our summer garden party pre build. They will see a difference I'm sure! Others have popped in and out throughout the build but will be nice to show it off and in the dimness of pumpkin light the cracks( literally) won't show!
Right, off to get a bit glammer than I was!
Have a great night0 -
I've had a great day just chilling - here's my five for the day;
1) I spent the morning at the kitchen table getting car insurance quotes.
2) I changed my lightweight summer curtains over to the heavy winter ones. It's so cosy now with them up.
3) After lunch I went for a walk. It was so beautiful, sunny and bitterly cold but lovely to walk in.
4) When I got back I had a hot chocolate with marshmallows on top and watched the film "The Holiday" while knitting. My perfect afternoon.
5) I'm watching Strictly now and will watch a dvd afterward.
It's great just chilling after my recent holiday xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

1) Snow! first snow of the season in a High up Cotswold village this morning, big fat feathery flakes!
2) Lovely concert in the village church where it snowed, DD1 sang a solo and read a poem ( It was a celebration of John Clare) and the choir sang Vivaldi beautifully, most enjoyable.
3) Rugby this afternoon was worth being at our team won convincingly and although it was the B team, put up a sterling performance.
4) Thermal undies in this bitter weather.
5) The cup of tea that James had ready for us as we shivered through the front door, blissful!0 -
1 Nice to have made proper and tasty food from scratch its been about 3 weeks now. We have had some proper batch stuff from the freezer thankfully that saw us through, today was leftover hm soup |for lunch, and hm chilli with turmeric rice with enough for tomorrows dinner left. Cheese cake tried and we love it, it’s delicious, though I will make a bit less of it next time, I thought I should follow the recipe first time around.
2 Ran an errand to pick up our prescriptions.
3 Hoovered the upstairs and flea bombed as a preventative, we haven’t got them but it tis the season and they are gits to get rid of.
4 A pleasure when it was done, cleaned the oven and shelves etc.
5 Numerous washing loads sorted.0 -

Pleasures for today (Saturday).
1) A lie in!
2) Sausage sandwiches for breakfast.
3) Bigger son went to work.
4) A snowstorm as I walked to see the hens! Gave them more chopped straw bedding so they had 30cm depth (though they soon flatten it down).
5) Smaller son and I went to Sainsburys for shopping and had a cup of tea.
6) Meatballs and spaghetti/courgette for tea.
7) Stove lit and we watched Strictly then I watched Casualty.
8) Reading Country Living Christmas magazine.
9) Bigger son has just nearly made me cry with laughter by taking a very personal phone call whilst sitting next to me ON LOUDSPEAKER!!! He did wonder why I was saying, "Hello, Bigger son's friend!" loudly and why his friend was laughing. He didn't realise it was on loudspeaker as he had it by his ear anyway!0 -
Saturday pleasures,
Bit of a lie-in followed by scrambled egg and smoked salmon for brekkie, no excuse for the salmon just fancied some when I was shopping.
Went over to the farm shop, car park was packed but pleasure was most folks were in the cafe and the shop itself was nice and quiet.
Made mincemeat buns, the recipe said it makes 32 but I only managed 24, nice though.
Rain and sleet hitting the window but we were all warm & cosy inside.
Tried to stay up later by watching a film but caved in around 11.00 and went to bed to read.0 -
Mhagster hope F2f is feeling better.
1. Met a friend for coffee at a local national trust property. We had a good chat and then walk round the garden. It was cold but no snow here and the sun shone.
2. Home and another coffee to warm up.
3. Planted some bulbs in the garden and then had a bonfire.
4. DS2 played rugby and DH went to watch. He hurt his neck again but not too badly.
5. Went shopping with DH at Bluewater so he could buy a new coat. Had dinner there at Jamie Italian and given an expensive bottle of wine with our free gold card there.0 -
Good morning.
Saturday
1. Builders arrived to put up roof timbers.
2. Snow on the way to kitchen designers.
3. Kitchen design beautiful, but pricey......realised We had 'designed' a more expensive version of the kitchen I have already....:rotfl:
4. Dyed hair blue for fancy dress as 'Joy' from 'Inside out'. Ironic.
5. Halloween Party at young friends house. Very enjoyable evening. Left at 10pm as flagging, and driving up to Liverpool today for an overnight stay.
Have a lovey day. Stay warm.0 -
My for yesterday -
1. Lovely chat with DS1 in the morning - he and DDiL were at a Car Boot Sale and spotted a couple of DVD's that I might like. A Cliff Richard one that I haven't already got :T and 'Jesus of Nazareth with Robert Powell' :j. That boy knows his mumsy so-very-well!
2. Off out to cinema with OH - Bohemian Rhapsody. Can tell that we don't get out much, I was  at the prices when I did the pre-booking _pale_. Loved the film though - and had aat a particular part. Managed to avoid the 'cinema goodies trap' - No Way, Jose!
3. Caffee Nero for a coffee/snack at lunchtime, before the film. Spotted their GF Coconut and Respberry Slice, but we DID share it! Very nice too. Loyalty card is now full - so freebie next visit :j!
4. OH wanted a nosy around a book shop, but I'd had enough and wanted a sit down - off to Costa! I'd had an email earlier in the week offering 'double points' on the second drink of the visit, so qualified for that when OH joined me a few minutes later :j.
5. Ended the day in Wetherspoons - OH had the Chicken Madras with Rice/Naan Bread - while I had the Quinoa Salad with Halloumi (yet again!) and Coleslaw. Was a really naughty girl, went for a dessert of Apple Crumble/Custard .................. well it was only a 'salad' for main course:rotfl:.
6. Bus came very quickly, so no hanging around in the Town Centre in the cold and dark. OH has to pay for his bus fares - and it was one with a '£1.99 Big Mac Meal' on it. Will come in useful for next week when I'm Nathan-sitting. He's in the Dentist on Wednesday for a check up, so will take him there afterwards as a bribe :j. I've also got one of those McD Receipts that you fill in a 'short survey' for - so that's another one in my purse as well :T.0
