.............. I stopped off to get the hen food and my sons would have a) got out of the car with me, inspected the shop and talked the hens and the man to death or b) stayed in the car and messed with things until they broke something. I asked if she wanted to get out and she said, "No, I would like to wait in the car" and she didn't even move! I wonder what it is like to have a really placid child! ................
Oh yes, Frith - your boys sound just like my DGS1 (Nathan age 17). My DD has started a College Course - 2 days a week that unfortunately, don't coincide with Nathan's '2 Farm/College Days'. So I've been roped in for 'Nathan-sitting' as he can't be trusted not to 'fiddle' with things in the absence of an adult . I also get the honour of taking him for his Dental Appointments. He has two false front teeth - knocked out when bouncing on the sofa at the age of 9 - but he keeps breaking them by 'flicking' them in/out of his mouth with his tongue . We've lost track of how many replacements he's had .
BoP - pleased to hear that everything was fine for you and BoPsie at the docs this week :T.0 -
Hi, my 5 pleasures today are;
1) Really good sleep last night, got up at 7.30 and exercised to a Rosemary Connelly dvd.
2) Stood at the kitchen window and watched the washing blowing in the sunshine - funny how such a little thing can bring so much pleasure.
3) Unexpected call from my walking friend to see if I wanted to go walking at 1pm. Of course- so had a great walk in the sunshine although it was quite chilly.
4) I mixed the ingredients for the mincemeat this afternoon - fruity, spicy smell just makes you think of Christmas.
5) Fish and chips at mum's for dinner.
OLLIEBEAK In case you get the vegan haggis here's the recipe for Crofters Pie.
Cook together diced onion, carrots, swede and 1/2lb mince with a couple tablespoons of water. Once cooked add 1/2lb haggis and mix well.
Topping - Cook 1lb potatoes and 1lb diced swede together. Drain, mash and add 4oz grated cheese.
Bake in oven as for Shepherds Pie.
I freeze individual portions of this then, defrost and microwave when needed.
I'm off to bed now xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Thanks for that, Plumduff - Definitely one for me to try out :j. We actually had Haggis for our Christmas Lunch one year - it was just the two of us with 'pop-in visitors' that year.
It's Gluten Free Haggis that I need - not Vegan. I can't have ordinary Oatmeal, Barley, Rye or anything that contains Wheat, due to being Coeliac
. I think I've found that I can get it in Sainsbury's (our nearest is about 4mls away). At least, their website states that they do the Simon Howie one. Whether or not they actually have them 'in stock' will be another matter

Happy Saturday!
Yesterday
1. Got an important job completed.
2. Class team who have moved into classroom next to me are lovely, and made me a cup of tea this morning.
3. Stayed late after school to put up Rememberance display. I like the quiet of Friday night when everyone else has gone home.
4. Ghost walk through Jewellery Quarter. (A bit chilly).
5. Stopped off for curry box at MrT.
6. Lit the woodburner, but could not get warm, so went to bed.
7. Half term :j
Have a lovely day0 -
My 6 for yesterday -
1. Another relaxing day of 'nothing planned' - so stayed in pj's all day :j.
2. Phone call from DD in the morning to say that they'd had a smooth journey home from DisneyParis - DGK's were still 'in the Land of Nod' :T.
3. Although the weather wasn't good, I did a wash load of bedding from spare bed - all dried on the airer/radiator rails/draped over door.
4. Curry making session for OH - 3 portions of Chicken Rogan Josh into takeaway containers and frozen :j.
5. Just to please BoP - [STRIKE]Sausages[/STRIKE] Snorkers, Rustic Mash with Caramelised Red Onions, Leeks and Onion Gravy - very .
6. Ended the day with Emmerdale and Coronation Street x2 - followed by Father Brown :j!0 -
Friday pleasures,
After breakfast we headed off to BuryStEd for a mooch around and to check out a possible sofa replacement for the new year, we like to do our research
Bit of a move around with the lighting, swapped around a couple of the lamps and come twilight was pleased with the difference made, good to have a change around.
Visited my pal with the forge and picked up a metal pumpkin, made out of horseshoes and sprayed orange, I love it.
Gingerbread ice-cream.
A clear sky, stars out and chilly when little dog went for last mooch around garden.0 -
Not posted or read for a while but here are a few.
1. Some lovely sunrises over the past week.
2. Went out for a meal yesterday with DH and DS2. Good good and plenty of it and cheap.
3. Away for a weekend with both boys and DH to watch rugby. Enjoyable weekend apart from rugby itself.
4. Managed to get motivated to tidy the house.
5. Flowers from the garden in a vase.0 -
Frith - the old folks tend to upset me anyway, especially when they have to go and leave them alone in the night...
The lively, flirty ones are :rotfl: though
BoP - glad the 'procedure' went ok
Lainey - gingerbread ice cream sounds yum, as does the horseshoe (which I always read as horses hoe) pumpkin.
Ampersand - sorry spits was a bit
Pleasures for yesterday
1. yoga - different class to usual. This instructor always does the same routine but, because i don't go to this class very often, it was ok
2. picked up a table sold via facebook marketplace. gave it a first coat of paint. Had a nice drive in our little car
3. fish pie for tea - from the freezer so no cooking
4. binge watched 'the cry' - enjoyed it.

Have a good afternoon all - I am alone until later tonight so will catch up some work...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
