  • Soup wars! ................ Sardines on toast with toms tonight. Far better than some smashed up potato in soup!

    Go on then!
:rotfl:. Now you're just having a go at winding me up, BoP ;)!

Thank you for the very kind comments.
1 A new mattress from C0stco was delivered by really lovely people who took the old one, we popped out and spent more than we planned on what we hope is an ok mattress topper. We had one before they were called mattress toppers from the good old TG Hughes when it was a proper shop, not a phoneixed one. It was fantastic and back then and not expensive.:o
2 While out we had lunch, and for the two of us it came to a total of £7.30, very impressed.:T
3 Called in at our just opened Aldi just around the corner and it was a pleasant surprise. It worked as it didn’t have what I wanted but ahem I still apparently wanted other things and picked up a pair of shorts for 49p.
4 I’m working through our filing cabinet and dumping all old paperwork, which goes back to the 90’s there’s a lot to go through and thin down as we kept everything, the chimera has done one load but it has a lot more to do.
4 A proper sized peanut lion bar, none of this snack bar size.:D
5 Dinner was just a sausage in a roll as lunch was big.

  • My five for today are;

    1) Up early, packed and popped into the local pharmacy on my way to the train station. Had my flu jab and it was painless.

    2) All trains were on time and I did not get lost, get on the wrong train or do anything else stupid.

    3) Sat beside a lovely lady going to Aviemore. We chatted for most of the journey and put the world to rights.

    4) Arrived home :T

    5) Sitting in my lovely warm sitting room. The house was freezing so heating is on full and the gas fire is on as well.

There's no place like home xx

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday).

    1) Annoyingly smaller son refused to go to school but I did get him to do 4 pieces of maths homework (it's online) and he got 100% for 3 of them.

    2) Hens OK.

    3) Went for a walk in the forest with my sister and niece.

    4) Popped out in the afternoon with bigger son to sort out his gym membership.

    5) Enjoyed watching Grand Designs.

    6) Have been standing in the living room with the lights off looking at the new view now the porch has gone, the enormous fir tree has gone and the leaves have fallen off next door's trees. Before you could see nothing but wall/fir tree branches but now you can see for miles - with the Ridge Hill mast on the horizon and that is 35 miles away!

Another bright sunny day but slightly cooler

DH had a haircut & no longer looks like a shaggy dog :rotfl:

I took a great step forward in conquering my fear of climbing ladders :D Spent 2 x 30 minute sessions + 20 minute session up a ladder thinning out our olive tree :D DH & DSis shredded the
rather large amount of pruned branches & collected olives. I will be curing our own olives :T:D

Need another session or two up the ladder :rotfl:

    Another pink sunset :T

Hm vegetable soup with hm croutons for dinner - yummilicious :rotfl:

    Good morning its Thursday already.

I have returned to the working classes and oooft it's tiring and I forgot about being nice to so many people all of the time :):):)

I now have a working dishwasher again. Was plumbed in yesterday after they discovered no plumbing had been allowed for it ( in new laundry room). But hu-blooming -rah !

I also have an extractor fan in kitchen but not in laundry room...that would be a step too far to expect everything to be done! I have outside lights at back but not at front. I have new LED bulbs throughout downstairs.

I have a lovely dog. Who ( as he always does but I've usually been in another room) looked up from his bed when I was having a bit of a sob and thought my mum needs a cuddle. And I did. It's been quiet emotionally overwhelming emptying boxes that have been packed away for a year and bringing them out and all the memories associated with them. Thank you dog of mine for your constant love.

Working in one of my favourite places in the world. Even though my feet were frozen! I'm being paid to have cold feet though shall be wearing thicker socks tonight. Everything else was warm enough but oooh my feet!

I have a builder free day. The end really is almost nigh. Just a few little things to be done.

I've made 2 batches of tablet this week and will do some more baking today. It's the 'official' opening of the extension on Saturday night/ Halloween party.

Having to be ahead of myself as I'm working late afternoon/ evenings and not in till later. So yesterday I'd made meatballs and spaghetti. Kids away with leftovers for their lunches today. I just had cheese on toast before I went out.

It's raining and to be raining tonight! Fab! Wet feet and cold feet!

    Have a good day :)

PK nice to see you back here and it's a place of sharing and caring ...the good and the not so good stuff. X

Well done that Haggis dog for looking after your Mum x

    Wednesday pleasures,

Worked Princess Pony and she was a good girl, all the hours of hard work that have been put in are paying off.

It did make my knee ache though so the pleasure of an ice pack!

Back over the yard for a hay delivery, Capt S came with me and helped unload which was lovely.

A difficult work situation is now more or less sorted, my foray into self employment has been a mixed blessing and the new year will bring changes.

Moroccan chicken traybake for tea, easy one pot cooking and very yummy, will make again.

Extra pleasure of the moon, rising through the beech trees and making moon shadows on the grass.
  • My seven for yesterday:

    1. Good night's sleep - I don't feel good about this, as so many of our posters are having sleep problems :(.

    2. Lovely chat with DD and DGK's who are visiting Disney Paris. She travelled from CdG Airport to Disney via local transport links (bus and train) - very adventurous of her, especially as she has NO FRENCH speaking whatsoever :T. She's even been shopping in a local supermarket so she could self-cater in their mini-hotel kitchen - so impressed with her :j.

    3. Delivery of a pair of 'trainer-style shoes' from my catalogue (reduced to half-price), but intended for next summer. I have 'problem feet' (size 9 EEE) but these are a lovely fit with fabulous memory foam insoles :j.

    4. Used up some 'lurking mushrooms' with garlic powder on toast for lunch - very scrummy.

    5. Had a kitchen work-top sort out - I need MORE CUPBOARD SPACE :(!!! ............ or maybe I just need less 'stuff'.

    6. Potato Waffles, Baked Beans and Eggs for evening meal last night - simple and not much washing up for OH to do ;)! No excuse for him to say 'I'm leaving that to soak!' :rotfl:.

    7. 'Emmerdale' and 'Corrie x 2' :T - happy girl ;).
