5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

I’ve not been able to post as it just wasn’t possible. A tragic accident has turned our lives upside down, it’s not something for a pleasures area. A few weeks later from a very mind-bending time and I’m starting to try and force some things back.
Over a few days:
1 I’ve found an exercise class that has been wonderful and is helping hopefully both head and heart.
2 Trying to redecorate a tad the tiny bathroom, so I’ve washed the ceiling today and plan on painting the ceiling tomorrow only enough room for one person to decorate.
3 There has been literally no food planning and barely any eating either really so I’ve planned for a couple of days. I like food - too much, so nothing to worry about there.
4 Mince pies I know it’s early, but there you go.
5 I’ve started a MOOC course which is also inspiring.
6 I've picked 3 tubs of rosehips, but I need to pick another 3 tubs to have a batch to cook, blimey they are painful to pick, but it tastes amazing so I will go back to get the rest later this week.
There you go 6 "pleasures" - that quite frankly is incredible so thank you to this thread.0 -
I think MOOCs are great pk
laineyt my kitchen is still tidy :T
1) mashed avocado on toast for breakfast
2) slightly startled when i went to a meeting and was thanked for offering to do a short talk. oops must have missed that in the invitation. went fine but lesson to self - read emails more carefully!
3) then lunch with ex-colleague. She is keen to submit a paper we had rejected by the first journal - really good feedback saying journal was having a revamp and change of direction. we never got round to submitting to journal they recommended. oops
4) after work did 'braverunner campus challenge - come test your strength, stamina and determination' which was raising money for the 'healthy mind healthy body' charity. was going to do it with dd2 but she ended up taking friend to A&E with broken ankle (not doing braverunner). was a little alarmed when i realised most were from sports clubs at the uni. but i finished :j (don't tell anyone i only did half the burpees!!!)
5) then dd2 and had pizza and GBBO
now in bed with newsquiz. goodness it's windy out there!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

I'm trying to think of five today
1) Went shopping to Reading. I was amazed by the many shops. I've only ever changed trains there before.
2) Very frugal snack of a portion of hash browns and a bottle of Fanta while catching the train back. Total cost £2.49.
3) I was planning to have my flu jag today but 3 pharmacies didn't do them on Tuesdays and one was fully booked till Thursday. I'll just have to get it done back home. The pleasure in this was I didn't have to endure the pain
4) I made dinner for ds and girlfriend coming home from their work. Kung Po Quorn, Prawn Crackers and then Daim Bar Cake. Delicious
5) I watched Martin on tv giving advice to the school leavers. Very interesting hearing about his path to success.
I'm travelling home all day tomorrow so hoping all goes well and I have 5 pleasures tomorrow xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Short wait for bus :T
Pork medallions in a mushroom Marsala sauce, with boiled potatoes & green beans - absolutely scrumptious

I am sorry that things have been difficult for you, PK.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Took smaller son to school (feels like days ago now!)
3) Hens well.
4) A free day! So drove to Hereford. Got there by 10.30, which is a record. Had a cup of tea in All Saints church nice caf!, which I had never been in before. Strange 1950s stained glass including one with a boy playing with a train with GWR on the side.
Went round all the charity shops. As mentioned yesterday, I was half looking for a jam kettle and there, in the very last charity shop, was one for £5! Also popped into the cathedral before lunch in my favourite caf!.
5) On to Ludlow afterwards which was strangely quiet. Did charity shops and got a grey jumper (from Oasis originally).
6) Then changed direction and went to floody city for a cup of tea with my school friend!
7) Burritos for tea.
8) A quiet evening watching GBBO while smaller son went to the pub with my brother to watch the football and bigger son (still out) has gone to his friend's flat at University to show them his new card tricks.0 -

'None of this soup nonsense' - tut tut, Mr BoP - MY Leek&Potato Soup is very substantial stuff. Especially when served with 'crusty bread' and lots of white pepper, which is just how Mr Ollie likes it!
But, I DO get your point - we frequently have steamed leeks served as a veg with bashed spuds and 'snorkers'. We love leeks - I sometimes do them 'braised with savoy cabbage' when having liver - double .

Sorry to hear that things have been so rough for you PK
Aw MrsLW Ruby sounds delightful.
Tuesday pleasures,
Capt S decided he needed some new work shirts ahead of starting new role so persuaded me to head to town of gown to visit JL. Not a bad trip in but forgot half term and very quickly got very busy, escaped with my sanity just in place.
Arranged a hay delivery for today, supplier is a real old Suffolk boy and hard to understand on crackly mobile.
Itchy nose and sore throat meant start of cold but pleasure of having Vit C and echinacea tablets in house ready.
Watched last weeks GW, no more Monty until springbut pleasure of seeing the young lad who was so enthusiastic about his gardening.
Feeling rough so bed after GBBO.0 -
Sorry to hear that PK, take care of yourself...
Frith - i don't know what a jam kettle is? I just use a saucepan...
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Up early and put a coat of oil on some of the garden furniture. It's funny to see it just soak in schlurrp schlurrp(i need to get out more)
2. Work is more of a chore than a pleasure but the pleasure is to just keep going.... it's worked so far
3. OH came home at lunchtime and cooked bacon for us, which we had with avo, cheese, tomatoes - surprisingly nice. Tea (on my own as OH went to see his mother and DD went to Disney on Ice) was leftovers so no / minimal cooking
4. Caught up with Dr Who - the 'Rosa' episode was simply stunning.
5. OH has been nominated for a 'lifetime achievement' award. Very proud (though he doesn't think he will win)
Have a nice day lovely peopleI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
vjm - jam kettle is what & calls preserving pan. Had to check, too.
