Frith - yowch to toes - may recovery be swift! Younger son lost at football? How is he?
house elf - both you & Other Adult are right about paint, but I do hope other adult has a sense of humour?
plumduff - belated Happy Birthday! :bdaycake:and Gerard Butler well worth looking at - objectivity can be overrated.
LaineyT - since I'm usually so So Long between posts & largely without the exciting travel etc in RL it seems discourteous not to acknowledge all the fun!
Olliebeak - oh bedding on the line in sunshine is just a foretaste of the pleasure - it's all wonderful! (Deftly done with the spam - my lot have taken to slathering slices in breadcrumbs & frying it, then adding an egg & making a hearty sandwich. Fills the Inner Teen, can leave a heck of a mess in the kitchen.)
Mrs SD - youngest has read & is now contemplating Italian breads in all their variety & where you get them from. We *may* have created a monster but I suspect we'll be eating Very Upmarket croutons & possibly even gifting them for presents. Trick will be to steer him to the ys stuff...
mhagster - hurrah on l'occitane win (so much more fun than B&H!) & wow NYC!
DundeeDoll - half the fun of some weddings is the leftovers, but the guests got glorious ceilidh music too.
Ampersand? Skint? OldTractor? All well with you & you'll come & tell us sometime?!

    OS Pleasures recently
There is a very special pleasure in the first cup of tea of the day, especially when the rest of the house is either asleep or elsewhere about its lawful business.

Jamboreeing on the Internet - even through a dire internet connection we have sung with a scout in Egypt & asked a Scottish pack if they ate haggis (the expressions were wonderful - a mix of 'yes of course' & 'oh this again - actually I like jalfrezi') before getting into serious matters like football! [and there's still all today left!]

Scout leader's happy smile around a croissant. We had a *very* International tuck shop!

The Indian scouts were wonderful - superb English and politely asking to be introduced around, (so we carried the laptop around like the Magi carry gifts) & then got on with the questions and chatter - including an glorious mellifluous greeting in Urdu! And a glorious smile at seven stunned little faces in a borrowed hall in Lancashire as our hut is having a more waterproof ceiling fitted. Mind, we all turned to hear better, just only 7 were "in shot".

Fellow leader was touched when I offered to email over all my working files on languages, the scout history etc - I think she may whisk some Cubs through the fun later & dead right too. Why let a lesson plan gather dust when you can tweak it & put it to work for the good of your lot?!

Tell you, some mornings this Good Mother bit is frell!ng f@rtwr@ngle. However, the future will either do just fine or foozle, learn, and do better. Another son is off mountain biking & I am just not asking about the occasional clunks from the bathroom.

On which clutching the cup of tea thought, I should perhaps return to RL. (Dashit) May health, sunlight, strength love & courage be abundant!
  • My five for yesterday:

    1. Gentle start to the day - no hurry to get off anywhere :j.

    2. Weather good enough to get more washing out onto the line in the sunshine/breeze. Not quite as warm as Friday, but still a lovely day :T.

    3. Trip to local shopping centre and called into CS for a chat with other staff :D.

    4. Visit to Co$ta - because I deserved it ;) - and bumped into friends that I've not seen for a long time :D.

    5. Visit to A$da - birthday card for DGD2 and some Euros to go in it. Her mum is taking them all to EuroDisney for a couple of days during half-term, so they'll be useful for her :). Treated OH to some whoosied Enchiladas ;) - and did Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges when I got back home. OH had remembered to bring the washing in BEFORE the sun went behind the houses, so it hadn't got that cold/damp feeling to it :j.

    6. Lazy evening - feet up and watch Midsomer Murders ........................ realised it had been on during the week, so played a word game on my Kindle before an early night.

DigforVictory - I was sure it was Spam, poster had only made two posts and the other one was very similar :rotfl:.
  • V She's on the stove and the house smells like a brewery. The pudding is on and she is full of Jim Beam. Will be flames on the day!

4 The cake is in the oven. She is also full of Jim Beam. Home ground almonds, so ifs yous has a nut allergy, forget it. Grated the butter in this time to get it light and fluffy. BoPsie right stirred it up as well!

3 That leaves note on stove for tea, so two weaks oin the trot it is Jack's Tea again. Snorker rolls, egg custard flan with leeks and best back. Toms and all nice things. Tum shall be rubbed.

2 Night will be film night. More later. Jon Inglise was good. Better as it was a freebie.

Not having one today, just steaming.

    What a day as well!

what a turn round of a day
    1) woke up to good weather, put on washing, down came the rain so washing stayed in washing machine. Walking to church stopped at beginning of puddles so cars didn't soak me then ran quickly past puddles in breaks of traffic. one car stopped for me - turned out to be a friend who was able to take me into town :-)
    2) cathedral still shut so we're still 'on tour'. today we were in st john the baptist. very pretty (and warm!)
    3) home via book shop to buy 'the life changing magic of tidying'. the time has come!
    4) the sun came out so the washing is now out
    5) mrpiano, he who normally caters, has gone to london for the week. i am confronted with an interesting array of leftovers in the fridge and freezer. will try not to buy any food though may need more milk. i have already found a recipe for pork and beetroot stew :-)

    It's been a while.
Fenny notspottery makes posting nigh impossible these days. but things have been happening. So, as they enter tired mind, pleasures - les voilà!
    #
    1. Biggest reason for tiredness now, &'s vendange. MAHOOSIVE this crazy year - over 80 kilos and a lot of noble rot too, botrytis, which sadly, I cannot benefit from in winemaking. Wish I still had my dear little tractor, Albert, then would fill trailer and cart the lot over to my sacred hexagone for dealing with. As it is, first batch of 18 jars of grape, red wine+ rosemary jelly reposing in kitchen. Next preserving panful is underway - using old enzed colonial recette. Slow heating until skins burst and juice releases, then few mins quick fast boil, mash, fast boil, strain overnight etc.etc.etc. Already & is at automaton stage. & needs another 60 jars, at least.

2.. A butterfly fluttered around in a sunbeam during church today. There was a wasp, too! Liked the Communion wine. Was very glad that due outrage was articulated during prayers re: Jamal Khasoggi and linked in terrific sermon.

    3. Unexpected Addenbrookes interlude suddenly last week. Results awaited. Meant no Spitalfields - again - at last minute, although car was full to bursting ready. Still laden as big lifting is no-no for a bit. Whole business also annoying as & should have been in London for march yesterday, but, in view of aforementioned... Vendange ladder climbing/clambering/crawling/harvesting all over coralux corner roof is probably a red card. It's been a huge slog.. Have actually cleared it down. Stripped crates of grapes and 10-12 years of mixed woody jungle of vine and clematis amandii away. No idea if either will grow on again. Multi-bonfire size heaps on lawn, and will just deal with vast crop as best I can. Some have already gone to neighbouring aviaries. My earrings are lost in there somewhere, too - snarl. Should have taken them off first.

    4. Much good reading lately, though very little time. Just started vol 1 David Hockney biography
    http://www.waldemar.tv/2011/12/hockney-the-biography-by-christopher-simon-sykes/
See what you think of Waldemar's take on it.

    5. 'Cos of 3, no tutoring last Fri, but actually left Adbkes in time to go directly to LP mthly mtg. Just felt need to be with caring, like minds, debate fiercely though we do. It's so good that well over 80-100 attend, usually 20-ish apologies, too. Then won another draw prize! 3rd this time, I think. A bit embarrassing to win 2 on the trot, but everyone was amused by my discomfort:-))).

I really am ready for bed and have loads to deal with again this week.
Plus crocheting ad infinitum - whose ridiculous idea was this vast 3-ply baby blanket, &?
Just when I finally have renewed passport, now find d/l expires during likely enzed time, so that needs sorting, too. And blutty Saga - now demanding nearly £50 pro rata for insurance I did not have, did not want, after their already admitted crock-up.
    Happy days everyone - tralalal.

  • [STRIKE]Five[/STRIKE] Six for today (Sunday)

    1. Good night's sleep and woke just before the alarm went off :).

    2. Remembered some 'last minute forms' that I promised to print off for Church - phew!

    3. Just managed to make it for the bus this morning - service was really good, with lots of favourite hymns and a visiting Preacher. :coffee: and chat afterwards :j. One of the ladies had got me some Gluten Free Biscuit Bargains that she'd found cheap in a local shop :T. I'll bake her a Lemon Drizzle Cake next week as a thank you :D.

    4. Back home to find that the Minced Beef Hot Pot was gently, bubbling away and smelling absolutely . Had a relaxing afternoon before dishing up with Steamed Savoy Cabbage/Leeks - OH had another bowlful later for supper ;)! Managed to put away a 1kg tub and a 500gm tub for the freezer - so plenty for another day :j.

    5. Had bought a pack of kidneys a couple of days ago, so split into four portions, into freezer bags and now frozen - there's only me who likes kidneys, so these will be 'personal treats' for when I'm eating alone . Also bought a Garlic Butter Spatchcock Chicken in A$da which might become our Christmas Dinner - if we're on our own on Christmas Day - and has also gone into the freezer :j.

    6. Have watched Poirot this evening - The ABC Murders was the very first Poirot book that I ever read :D.

Looking forward to a good night's sleep again tonight - got a shift in the Charity Shop tomorrow afternoon :).

    2) Feet/legs amazingly recovered from the bashing they had over the last 3 days.

    3) Hens OK.

    4) Made 5 jars of crab apple jelly this morning and another batch is underway (I could do with a bigger saucepan then I wouldn't have to do it in batches).

    5) Smaller son and I went to Sainsburys.

    6) Really enjoyed Dr Who.

    7) Bigger son made an impressive chow mein for tea.

    8) Bigger son has been practising his card tricks on me.

Tis Monday morning. I've walked the dog, I've fed the cats. I have no builderly people today.

Yesterday started off very similarly with dog walking and cat feeding then big doggy walk then I went for a shower but lay down instead and caught up on my missed sleep from Friday night!

Leftover pasta for tea with Parmesan grated over and baked in oven. With salad and some little roast potatoes and carrots, very yummy. Son away with last of pasta for his lunch.

    Nice chat with SIL

Muuuuuuum, will you take me to T...really? But as I'm nice I did and got lots of RTC little cocktail sausages which have now been Tetris'd into freezer for out Halloween party next week.

Watched the last episode of The Cry. Then woke up having missed the last 7 minutes so had to catch up on iplayer.

No great plans for today other than pottering around which I think I may like. I need to empty some pots in garden into brown bin ad I think it's that bin collection this week...but as the fridge no longer has magnets all over it I don't know!

May attempt going into the garage if DD2 is there to help. It's a blooming builders yard! And what I need is at the opposite side!

Right, onwards with today. Have a good one!
