1) A beautiful bright sunny and calm day, still quite chilly but so very much better than yesterday.
2) A cooking session this morning I made welsh cakes, ginger parkin, a bakestone griddle scone (like a scone loaf but round) and at teatime also made cinnamon toast most enjoyable.
3) Sunday lunch out in a local tearoom proved to be superbly good, real old fashioned well cooked food in generous quantities and proper bread and butter pudding for dessert scrumptious!
4) DD and James came for tea, and the baking was mostly for them because.....
5) They got engaged while they were away on the school trip earlier on in the week, I couldn't say anything until now as DD wanted to tell her sister today but I'm so utterly happy for them it's a wonderful thing, we are truly blessed!0 -

My five for today are;
1) Good sleep last night and woke at 8 thinking "that's great it's only 7 I'll get lots done ". Once ready and downstairs I discovered it really was after 8 - I'd forgotten the bedside alarm changed automatically
2) Went to the local car boot and bought 3 DVDs and a huge cauliflower.
3) On the way home I popped into the co-op and bagged some ys bargains.
4) I had a very tasty roast chicken dinner then chocolate sauce pudding. I never have pudding on weekdays so enjoy these treats at the weekend.
5) I've started knitting a raspberry pink matinee set for a friend's new grandchild. I'm happy to have a rest from knitting my sweater as it's taking ages.

Can't remember when I last posted, we've had a bit of a tough time as our springer has broken his elbow - our pet insurance is bad so we had to make a tough decision, we set a limit we'd be willing to pay and the quote came in just on it, so we went ahead with the op. So a large amount paid on Credit card which we'll then transfer to a 0% on but still gutted and the routine of him being in a crate with a cone, needing lifting everywhere and only being allowed 3 x 5 minute walks on lead a day is really stressful and has totally thrown me out of my routine and into bad habits - but nearly 2 weeks later it's time to get back to normal!
- Our neighbour has given me a lot of top soil which she had left over after a garden revamp.
- Cut the lawns yesterday and started to make bags to make lea mould from the big leaves from our Acer tree
- DS looked after our cocker when we first had poorly springer home, and he's come back knowing 'paw' - hours of fun :rotfl:
- Bit of a snow shower on Sat, which settled a bit on the Malverns - pretty
- My Christmas cactuses are flowering and looking so pretty0 -
Oh poor dog HC
Sunday pleasures,
Dogs don’t know about clocks going back, little one up as usual time so early start!
Bacon butties whilst catching up with the News Quiz and JAM, then moved on to all things Ambridge, we love the radio.
Over to the yard, picked up hard feed on the way together with a new flicky brush for grooming PP, she was the only horse out without a rug but standing in the sun was plenty warm enough. Her winter coat is very soft and thick, she’s like a big old bear.
Clear, cold evening with the waning moon still very bright in the sky, stood outside waiting for small dog to do her thing and could hear the little owl calling from the beech trees.
For complicated reasons I won’t go into eldest hollow legged one has moved in with us for a few weeks so the added pleasure of knowing a loved one is warm and snug, sleeping under your roof.0 -
Good morning. It's a beautiful morning in a -1o kinda way!
I must, must, must read my new boiler instructions today to find out how to set timer. At the moment I'm just clicking it on as and when but think I need to have it come on first thing!
Saturday evening was nice. I'd said start at 7pm and no one was here ( I'm very punctual) and was a teeny bit miffed then everyone started arriving around 7.30pm and all was well in my world. A happy evening, much laughter and chatter.
Sunday. Well the stragglers had stayed later than well past bedtime! So after being up with the dog I came back to bed for a bit and had a snooze.
Had work in afternoon / evening. We walked down. It's about 15 minutes walk and through our country park and I just love it.
Had a great shift at work. But it was freezing ( literally!) took me a full 5 minutes to de-layer when I got in.
Today I think I will be winter proofing! More blankets on beds. Timer sorted. Blinds and curtains shutting. I have the day off ( event is closed on Mondays) so I'm looking forward to a builder free day at home. My son is off sick ( has a cold...being very male about it all!) so it was nice to see him and chat with him yesterday and this morning. He came back from his mountains early ...that's how unwell he was!
I've just had a nice but brief chat with DD1. She had her graduation ball on Saturday but her final essays for her degree are due in this week so she was sparing me 10 minutes between them to chat. Just over 5 weeks till I squeeze her!
Have a lovely day. I'm off to get some winter woollies on!0
