Pleasures for today are;
1) Went for a walk around the border of a nearby town with a friend. Lovely sunny day again but really chilly.
2) Friend then treated me out to lunch for my recent birthday. Battered cod and chips was delicious.
3) Looked at friend's holiday snaps as she's just back from Boston, USA. The trees were magnificent colours.
4) People from Freecycle came to collect my old garden bench.
5) Just home from seeing Bohemian Rhapsody at the cinema. A bit slow to start but loved listening to the music especially at the end.

Pleasures from Friday to Monday
Dry and quite sunny for all 4 days but getting progressively colder
Have pickled the olives from our olive tree :T Unfortunately no taste test for 2.5 months
DH has almost completed the work in the back garden - ancient bulbs planted, compost & ground cover laid, hedge plants trimmed & weeds hoed out.
Delicious dinners for 3 - pork chops, mash & roasted veg; savoury mince with lots of veg & mash (portion in freezer); 2 nights of bolognese sauce with Rigatoni & spaghetti.
Leftover sausages, mash & onions fried up with an egg for DH’s Monday lunch.
Absolutely no food binned & starting to get wiggle room in the freezers :j
Foxes & squirrels have visited regularly :T
The joy of flannelette sheets/duvet cover on the bed
Deciding to do the washing up within half an hour of finishing dinner
Having the heating on
Watching the first episode of Season 2 of Midnight, Texas

1. A busy day at work which was good but heating wasn't on so very cold. We left slightly early as it was so cold.
2. Roads were quiet and so was supermarket.
3. Wrapped colleagues leaving present and I think they look good as spent time and used ribbon and very pretty paper.
4/ DS1 rang for a chat. He is still ok and work is alright for him at the moment.
5. A friend phoned and we had a long chat and then re arranged our meeting up for coffee.0 -
Morning - totally agree about poppies BoP and also sick of seeing them being used as a weapon to whip up nationalist fervour and hatred on social media rather the respect and gratitude they deserve
- Missed putting recycling bin out for the second time and it doesn't matter as there is plenty of room in it - if I can go for 6 weeks between collections, my lifestyle changes regarding cutting down on packaging and singe-use items are paying off :j
- Our gas and electricity usage was only £44 last month which was a relief seeing as OH's meds are making him really feel the cold and he's being heavy on big hot baths, putting the heating on or the little heater in his study  :rotfl:
- Lovely walk in the sunshine yesterday, little cocker loves rolling in the frost (about the only thing he rolls in which doesn't make my heart sink :rotfl:)
- Bought loads of RTC fruit and veg, and I've frozen loads which will help with the budgeting this month
- DD2 and BF down for the weekend and we're going to a firework display on Sat (only his second ever bonfire night as he's Spanish, and he liked it so much that he wanted to go to the same display again this year:):))

Good Morning,
We are back from our mini break in Liverpool.
1. When we used to visit DM, we had to follow the same routine every time...... Nando's, McD's then The Albert Dock or Southport highstreet.(This was our opportunity to do some of the things we missed in all those years). We have had 2 days of wandering around the sights, reminiscing about my youth and when we first met. :rotfl:
2. Hotel was Fawlty Towersesque, even to the Germans on the next table at dinner. :rotfl:........ Breakfast was excellent, with a view across Sefton Park in the autumn sunshine. The Germans brought their Bernese Mountain Dog to breakfast, and we showed them photos of our Bernease, and we had a lovely chat.
3. We were so lucky with the weather! Two days of brilliant sunshine. Perfect for wandering around the cathedrals admiring the stained glass, and then 3 Graces on the waterfront.
4. Stopped for tea in the Georgian Quarter, at a cute little cafe. (Near where they have filmed some of the Peaky Blinders). Sat outside in dazzling sunshine, with a view of the Anglican Cathedral. Tea was served in a big pot, with cups and saucers. Perfect!
5. Popped into the Philharmonic pub to admire the grade 1 listed toilets. :rotfl: Got chatting to a couple who were staying at our first choice of hotel, but we couldn't book the dates we wanted. Sounds like a lucky escape
6. Home, and too tired to cook, so used an UBER Eats offer to order food for me, DH, and DS1. Took ages, as first order was cancelled, but food eventually arrived, and was yum. (Probably won't bother with them again though. :rotfl:).
7. A round up of.....Excited doggy welcome. House has survived DS2 having a sleepover, and sleeping in our own bed.
Big list of things to do today. Have a lovely day0 -
HC totally agree and makes my teeth gnash that people are using the Poppy as a way to vilify those with different beliefs to them.
Monday pleasures,
Cold but frosty and bright start, washing was on the line by 8am.
Over to see horse, her field fencing had been moved and she was enjoying the new grass so quite resentful when I took her away but soon cheered up when she spotted the apple. We walked around the fields and then I tidied up her mane and tail, now the flies are gone she can have it much shorter and out of the way of the mud!
HM soup and cheese toasties for lunch.
Moved the living room furniture around and I like it.
Playing up three dinners even if hollowlegged one didn’t eat his until nearly 10pm when he got home from football training :rotfl:0 -
Sounds like you had a lovely trip to Liverpool, house elf :T. So pleased that you managed to have a look at the Men's Toilets at The Philharmonic
- pity they can't do anything about the smell in there. The Ladies Toilets are so 'plain' in comparison
.
Mine for yesterday -
1. Another beautifull - but very cold day - brrr.
2. Afternoon shift at the Charity Shop - took a flask of soup with me, to save having to buy something for lunch :j!
3. Found a gorgeous calf-length cardigan - chunky knit/edge-to-edge - fits really well - £3 :T.
4. Both buses were very obliging on the trip back home and so pleased to get back and into the warm flat.
5. OH had Pasta/Spicy Sausage Casserole/Garlic Bread - did the GB by using 'silicon toastie pockets' to put the slices in and putting them into the toaster .......................... saved having to put the oven on :j! I had Omelet with some of the ood 'pretend Feta Cheese' in it with Garlic Mushrooms on the side .
6. Settled down with Emmerdale and Corrie x 2!

The Poppy is not some commercial product to put on a shirt, remember in 1914 Football played on! Nor is it a symbol of some fairy story god. I still do not attend any parade as the politicos turn up in their tears of crocodiles. Nor do I forget the cornflower either!
V Inn the gym last eve getting trim for SF.
4 Tea was another dollop of the cottage pie, which has attracted the attention of Raffles, as it is good food and good for you! Raffles had his rabbit instead! Other cat food is available. And guess what. Another dollop of Cottage pie tonight as well.
3 Coming up end of another month and the investments has … Other means of putting your cash under the mattress are available! Still, had a bad one in February and we are still ahead of that slight misfortune!
2 And Fro. Noticed the ten P silver birch in yard of BoP Chateau has rid its elf of leaves overnight. Looks bare now until spring!
Having one again today. Seems social media is awash with tack! If you purchase a poppy make sure it is from the RBL.
There, that is it for your version of the Life of BoP0 -
1) My grandpickle is coming to stay and as he told his Mum when he was talking to me on her phone this morning, not you Mummy or Oreo you're going home just me staying with Oma!
2) Finding the table and chairs we've been looking for in the BHF furniture showroom, bought and paid for and being delivered early next week!
3) Buying 3 new Christmas tree decorations in the garden centre this morning, so many years since we've had any new ones.
4) Changing my library books, love a new book to read.
5) Living here, it's so beautiful and always views of magnificent hills in the background wherever we drive and rolling fields and sheep, I love it!0 -
Really struggling to get 5 pleasures today but I'll give it a try:
1) Woke at 5.30 and couldn't get back to sleep again so got up just after 6. I did get lots done but I'm shattered now.
2) It stopped raining just before lunch so my friend and I went for a walk at one. Missed the sun.
3) Went to mums for a coffee. I swear she's becoming telepathic the older she gets
4) Used the last of Sunday's chicken for dinner today - I made chicken with mushrooms in a white sauce and had this with basmati rice.
5) Cosy on the couch now with a hand sewn quilt while watching tv.
