Ah, the joys of a weekend away with godparents who are offline! RL genuinely R.

    OS Pleasures recently
Can anyone advise on Jaws as a book at bedtime? As I confess I was giggling at that as an idea if a restful read but had to presume radio 4 knew what they were doing.

Supermarket selling off end of line Bubba tumbler - I think I'm giving reusable mugs this Christmas rather than the standard smashables. £3 for something nearer £10 plus postage. Now to ponder which relative! Can't see yoga teaching cousin bonding with a Bubba, somehow.

I gather a Glasgow University professor was given statue in Russia - by mistake. Which is a bit tough on the researchers but a useful lesson in Wikipedia usage. A single double check from another source can spare blushes - but then Fox confused Aretha with Patti LaBelle, so it's not just the Russians...

Anyone else a fan of Upstart Crow? His message to people getting exam results was glorious!

I know ampersand tours la Sud for fun famille & profit, but the ongoing radio silence has me thinking they haven't identified Everyone from the Italian riviera bridge. Fingers crossed she's loading the Meriva with formidable negotiation & Tetris skills.

Had another bash at Oslo stitch, nålbinding. The casting on us an unholy terror to me, & when I decided to just freestyle have a go I managed about three coherent stitches before it became a Celtic knot with fangs. Progress! All safe on plane so may take it to Belfast (teaching again - but no time to look around). Do airports sell wool?!

Oh my - roast chicken dinner followed by rhubarb crumble. The Albert Herring song "belt too tight for tum, loosen it out a notch" far too a propos!

"I don't think your conker is working - it's got a spider web on it!" The young can be so harsh...

Right. Health, strength, courage, luck, & general Good Things to all as have need of same - I must away & make hedge jam before the bags of apples we picked go icky on us (we were picking in the rain).

I knew about the bees hopeless case but giraffes?
    PM2BOP 3 points at last
    For yesterday
    1) arrived safely in Basel for a conference
    2) found my Airbnb. Lights are a bit strange but it’s a super 1bed flat
    3) walked through to Munster (28 mins walk according to google maps
    4) then off to colleague’s hotel, buying tonic en route for her gin. We got ice from the bar and had a fab chat
    5) then found relatively cheap pizza place (13 Swiss francs each). Yummy pizza freshly made. Then walked back to flat thanks to google maps
    Today
    1) really good sleep after yesterday’s 3am start
    2) went to 10am at Munster. Cameroon women’s French choir, Bach, Liszt and readings in English, French, German, Spanish and something I didn’t recognise (and one of the hymns in latin) then invited to hall where we had canap!s and orange juice, more singing and some dancing - they were launching a collection of prayers in all different languages. Lovely
    3) then off to meet colleagues at conference. Quick yummy lunchthen set up
    4) friend gave me her tram ticket (delegates staying in hotels get 6 day ticket) so nipped back to flat for cups of tea
    5) then back for official opening. Good talk, more music then light supper and wine. Sniffled an extra pretzel for tomorrow’s breakfast. Great chats with alumni and potential students. Trying to wangle trip to Indonesia in January - watch this space!
    6) made it back via 2 trams without the map. Met very nice oz on 1st tram. Alarm set for 7:15 as conference starts 8:30.glad I got the trams sorted

    Most of day spent horizontally.

Looked like a drunken walk of shame at 5.45am but was really just a very dizzy stagger to let dog pee!

Back to bed for most of day . To move to sofa then back to bed.

Started a book & finished a book. Started another one, set in the Welsh Marches!

Made pasta with onion, peppers, blooming runner beans-the gift that literally keeps giving-I shall use them all up, some ham and cream and Parmesan . Was rather lovely. Was vertical for this then horizontal!

GN went away at 5pm. Apart from being rather bouncy ( can't really deal with other people's rapid movement ) she's been a pleasure.

    Chat with DD1 .

I haven't done the trail, I've seen a few out and about but would be nice to do the full trail before they go

This is the link DD and this is the reason why the giraffe was chosen:
    http://www.worcesterstandstall.co.uk/

    Why a giraffe?
Giraffes are majestic, but elegant, gentle but giant. They are sociable creatures but
do not form herds, instead they meet in changing groups each day, rather as we do
in our own communities.
Giraffes are the tallest mammals on earth and the collective noun for a group of
 giraffes is a tower!
Worcester Stands Tall will inspire creativity and generate plenty of fun for all
as you follow the giant giraffes on their journey around the city.

A bit of a stretch maybe (if you'll pardon the pun :p) but they're very pretty :)

They've had bears and owls in Brum, I think Wallace and Grommit in Bristol and hares in Norwich? Lovely idea :)

    Good morning,

    Yesterday

    1. A trip to town with DH to collect Click and Collect parcels. Free tea and cake in John Lewis with voucher. Shared a cream scone and got extra pot of water. Just right. :)

    2. Parcel has not arrived at M&S, but got meal deal plus lots of reductions and £2 off with Sparks card :j

    3. Home for M&S lunch and then took DS2 to collect school shoes and found 4 pairs of the chinos he likes in Primark, so bought all 4 pairs. He has been wearing shorts for weeks, as he has lost all his trousers  I am wondering if someone takes them from the washing line

    4. Made spaghetti Bolognaise from the two packs of Quorn DS2 left out of the freezer. Enough LO to turn into chilli and lasagne.

    5. DH and I went to see Christopher Robin with Sweet Sunday's tickets. Not entirely free, as I have had to eat a lot of chocolate....:o Nice film. The CGI on the toys is really good and Ewan McGreggor is always fab. :)

DH assures me it is not going to rain today, so more wood cutting. Will get my revenge on next door for their loud partying last night. :rotfl: (Not really, I won't start too early).

    Have a lovely day :)

Thanks for saying about & Frith.

    Sunday pleasures,

Rotten nights sleep, full moon Saturday night?, so up early and took little dog around the field.

Turned out to be a good idea as rain started around midday and didn’t stop all day.

Roast dinner and apple crumble, Autumnal food and thoroughly enjoyed.

Much lazing around on sofa, reading book and watching old films on tv, Basil Rathbone anyone :D

Curtains closed and candles lit by 8.30.

    1. Time in the garden. I cut down a shrub that was in the wrong place and then had a bonfire.

    2. DS2 girlfriend arrived. She brought brownies that she had cooked which were lovely.

    3. Went to buy paint for an outside wall and then managed to buy some more bulbs to plant!

    4. Had fish for tea as DS2 was out.

    5. Quiet evening with DH. We watched a film and had lit candles.
