Hot Dogs it is!
V Five. Scooonts lost by five goals last night at home! Their money man has left the bus shelter, they’re doomed. Rusting away! PM2DD should be an easy six points for your lot this season!
4 Yeas, the news yous just want to hare raise about! Well yet again I is at the mill and last night to get a fill for the packed lunch box that you know BoP has, BoPsie with her ever keen eyes, spotted the raspberries cheap! They were removed from the shelf! So guess. They’re in today’s packed BoP lunch box. As well as some toms, cheese, boiled egg. jelly and orange, and orange. Two cakes of Jaffa and a rocky! Following on from that, BoP has finished his chicken and mushroom pie last night. Served with pan gravy and peas of the garden.
3 Only days now until BoP pops over the ogin to DC and Big Apple. All sore ted for our trips as well. Follow BoP tour live here! Wont be doing the lady this time, but Mhags if you are going, it is only $27 to the crown, book on the NPS website about three months beforehand to get your tickets! Only about 120 a day are available!
2 Nite BoP is preparing the treaders for tomorrows run to the Bell! Clangers here we go!
Having one today. Sent complaint to SP about their inability to read meters smartly! They dropped the DD to £3 a month. They’re ‘avin’ a larf. Afters alls I has told yous lot about fixing your prices as well!
For readers, I cannot put their proper name here or the shortened version as the profanity filter blocks them!
That is it for today at the mill0 -
Well past my bedtime.
Not long in from a floral workshop. Made a beautiful hand tied bouquet with greens and pinks & it was just fabulous. My treat to me.
Well we now have walls & roof beams. I've been inside the extension today.
Builders late coming round again as it was just absolutely lashing with rain.
Niecelys came for tea. Somehow managed to stretch mince by adding dough balls & thinly sliced & roasted the 4 potatoes I had left! Then made a rhubarb crumble for pud.
Nice dog walks between the showers.0 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) My fridge and washing machine get an annual clean as part of their warrant so the man came to do this at 9am. All clean now!
3) Bigger son drove to Floody City to go to the cinema with his friends then on to a party. I left him and looked round the charity shops, buying only a vintage tea tray for my sister (who was looking out for one).
4) Bought chicken pies for tea from Narraways butcher. BoP might have heard of Luke Narraway, former class mate of my brother and son of Mr Narraway the butcher!
5) Hens well and 3 eggs. Chopped the few nettles and thistles down in their pen.
6) Did 2 loads of washing, cleaned the floor etc.
7) Caught up on episodes of 24 Hours in A and E.0 -
Good Morning Peeps,Well past my bedtime.
Not long in from a floral workshop. Made a beautiful hand tied bouquet with greens and pinks & it was just fabulous. My treat to me.
How lovely! I did a floristry class many years ago, when I was a SAHM. The hand tied bouquet was the last thing we made. It was a very skilled process, and the end result was a work of art, but I have never been able to reproduce it! I hope it lasts for a long time.
Yesterday
1. I have got 40 things listed on eBay :j
2. Met freebie hunting friend for coffee. Caught up on events and planned a few future outings. She is fab :A
3. DD has been offered a six month contract in India! She is very excited :j
4. Found some more cheap wine in Mr A.
5. Chicken Kiev for tea, and Ice creams from McDonalds on the way back from letting a friends doggie out before bedtime.
Meeting DH for lunch today
Have a lovely day0 -
Pleasures for yesterday/today
1. I napped in my car at lunch time. Ran downstairs, set an alarm for 40 mins and reclined the seat flat. Woke up drooling down my face - sign of a good nap! Came back, treated myself to a Diet Coke and felt all bouncy again.
2. Didn't have to do any cooking yesterday because I'd pre-prepped everything on Tuesday! We came in and had falafels, pitta and salad. This allowed me time to contact a man about re-instating a Victorian fireplace upstairs, a decorator, email the electricians and do other things like book the car in for MOT, order logs for the winter and text the chimney sweep.
3. Hubby came back from Solihull last night - yay! We went to Barbell class together at Crossfit which was SO MUCH FUN! I was getting really bar-phobic and unable to clean (snap up to my shoulder area) just a 35lb womens bar. The coach managed to build up my confidence and DH really enjoyed himself. Am super sore today though!
4. Lovely sunny day this morning.
5. Only two meetings, and a very quiet office. I might actually get something done today0 -
Am guessing & is still on her travels?
Thursday pleasures,
Woke up to heavy rain and it lasted most of the morning but the garden is much happier these days and the grass is green again.
My car insurance renewal arrived and it’s lower than last year, don’t think this has ever happened before. I will still shop around but interesting move by company that advertises the fact isn’t on any comparison websites.
Drove into horsey town to visit emporium and got stopped by one of the many strings of racehorses, saw some visitors taking pictures, it is something we take for granted now but it is an impressive sight.
Treated ourselves to a bakery purchase, mine was a chocolate Viennese biscuit with praline cream, oh my.
Finished my book “ Miss Christie regrets “ thoroughly enjoyed and will be looking out for the other Hampstead books.
Mushroom and goats cheese risotto for tea.0 -
Morning, all! Thank you for keeping on posting & finally I get to unload the file that's been growing - I should have posted it but RL keeps happening!
OS Pleasures recently
Checked son for funds for social evening out, rearranged note to coin ratio, collaborated with supermarket & ended up three pretty £2 coins up. (Now withdrawn from circulation into savings)
Sent a detailed listing of All the numbers to myself at work to speed the Travel and Subsistence claim - an essential part of any work travel! [Completed! Alas, signatory on leave.]
Chivvied eldest into pegging laundry on the line - he will be paying some of his earnings to us for keep - I have been clear this activity keeps "keep" at a lower percentage...
Youngest scanned a doctors letter for reference. The convenience of having properly equipped young persons is unspeakable!
Chuckled at recollection of assorted exercise/phone charging units at Coventry - genius use of applied psychology & shrewd mothers debouncing their young.
Who recalls DundeeDoll's Andy Capp sightings/hunt? Manchester's been invaded by bees.... the "gold" bee by Manchester Piccadilly rail station is very spectacular but the others have their appeal too.
Son *utterly* lacking in sense. "Mum sat down is as tall as she is stood up." I tested & he's regrettably right. Grr! Takes my computer, and "mummy, I need money".... Happily still very ticklish.
Viking excavations on tv & bodies with Tafl pieces scattered over them. "Cheat at Tafl, would you?" murmurs a son, thoughtfully.
Oooh - emporium has Prestat rtc as bbe of this month! Says she happily nibbling on exotic chocolate & thinking that the box I gave mum must have brought similar indulgent pleasure.
Listening to Neil Oliver on the henge in Orkney. Oh that voice! Family mutter that these bits left over are just spare chunks like flat pack leftovers. Even that the circles were raised by women while the men were off fishing...
Ah, early-morning teenagers. Previously, I had thought "something like that" involved syllabic speech & yet an inflected grunt was entirely comprehensible. I think the shock to my system comes from *sharing* this early morning space, which has been my Fortress of Solitude (with tea & soft furnishings) for years.
Is it wise to bait your mother whilst holding her reading glasses in your toes & balancing on the other foot whilst wrapped in your duvet as you're not getting dressed yet? Son very nearly toppled & tickled...
An unexpected (then long awaited) bequest has arrived and the eldest's first act has been to repay all he owes me. Them to buy an American Sizzler pizza.... Youngest also has repaid all borrowed/lent in anticipation - clearly my attempts to reach them good financial ways have not been wholly in vain!
Bonus pleasure getting all related admin signed sealed & posted within 24 hours of the funds appearing in accounts.
Crystal Maze "wonderful game, somewhere between General Knowledge and xenophobia" - oh gods, Richard Ayoade's self discipline as he strives not to let the eyes roll or the voice sound too sarcastic... Howlingly funny!
Youngest the proud owner of a truncheon of his grandfather's era. Along with strict injunction not to use it in the house or (ideally) on his siblings. Young historian beaming...
"Make dock workers look like butterfly farmers" brothers bickering over who has been working harder...
Boys, wanting paintball, up early on a Sunday & now finding location has relocated & no one answering phone for another half hour of rain. So singing along to CD, eating biscuits & excavating conkers. They have a gift for living in & enjoying the moment! [and now home, defrosting freezer & doing washing up to guarantee lift to gf, while planning requirement of full refund - an idea that shocked them a few hours ago & had become more reasonable as time passes! Must chase that up.]
Booths has new bags for life in a light bright airy fruity design! And someone's complained they undermine his male dignity already, bring girly. (*Actually* girly would see them smaller thinner & more expensive, needing to be replaced more often but since the old Booths bags for life have the load carrying capacity of a Sherpa with the colourway of classic Chanel, I honestly don't see the problem with keeping hold of last seasons bags.)
And they've new fabric bags so my Christmas gift packaging is sorted. Life is very good some days. (Unlike my ability to giftwrap, which is dreadful.)
Aldi had pseudo Converse in my size - with the footbeds & orthoses in, they're wonderful!
Folding bags for life so I can stash several shop's worth under the car back seat. Restful, & so reassuring to know they're there in case of need. I have odd-ish pleasures.
Kelly's Heroes! Ah the joy of rewatching a much loved classic - with a certain amount of saying the lines along with... ("Always with the negative waves" a particular favourite.)
The challenge of son working at a garden centre is he gets in desperate for food & we are desperate for him to wash. Cries of "nail brush *then* tacos" are probably not unique but may have a certain parental familiarity!?
Check child benefit all ticketty boo, but tax credits will call me back. Seeing Himself reach to recall his national insurance number reminds me why it's I who makes the calls.
Just seen the Flying Scotsman gusting steam at Preston - unexpected pleasure!
Managing to reply swiftly, lovingly, sisterly to an unexpected email very much in the key of "me". I wish her the best of luck, but also that she'd stop sending explosive emails before breakfast. Still, managed to get the love across.
What seen of Glasgow lovely, and raining hard - exactly what I was expecting & had dressed for! Rest of the time immured in classroom, but that's why they pay me the augmented pittance.
After a long day training, to have a haggis supper (not Mhags' hound but the Burns chieftain of the pudding race) is a treat!
Lad sorting me a coffee asked if I'd like English notes in my change? Thoughtful lad - my local cabbies can be very uncertain about proper Scottish money!
Gods but it is good to be travelling home. My family & the rejoicings over results & payslips await then my own bed!
Shared the delight of a glorious (almost?) Full Moon with eldest - he could barely think after a 12 hour shift but did realise I had returned.
Wondering if pizza delivery team will be OK with charming Scottish tenner featuring member of astronomical society Mary Somerville rather than the usual Jane Austen... [They were - intrigued rather than spooked!]
Ah yes, ebay £1 lid - excellent. Must get as much listed as I can before social duties kick in.
Which means my current binge of reading Paul Docherty's Athelstan books will have to wait a little - Cadfael he isn't but still interesting.
Waking up in own bed. To familiar noises around. (I even fell back asleep for another two hours which is not a treat I get most months!) Then to get to post!
Ah. noises off. Dashit. Right, health, strength, intestinal fortitude, wellies & correctly anticipated movements of the seasons to all as have need, safe & happy travels to all coming & going and may constructions rise into glory.0 -
Not managed to post for most of the week.
1. Actually managed to do everything I needed to at work this week. No major problems but a general feeling of not wanting to be there. It looks like I will be able to have the leave i requested at Christmas.
2. Having a drink in the garden with DH on a couple of evenings.
3. DS1 keeping busy and seems to be ok. Had a few long chats with him.
4. DS2 cooking a couple of evenings.
5. Spoke with a neighbour.0 -
V Nows BoP has bin looking at his pots and BoPsie has to work on and on and on and on and on and on. Nows I has again looked into overpaying the robbing bank with the mortgage. No No No No No No. Scenario 1, increase term to 288 months neutral day Oct 21! Decrease to 72 months and pay more, neutral day Oct 21, Stay as is and let them take the risk. Oct 21. Guess what, yeah, they can take a flying figs leaf at it!
4 Gogs tested Eyes ready. Treader sore ted last eve. Bike it is tonight. Proper good. Hopefully the eyes work tonight and …
3 Now it is bank holiday weakened. You know what that means. The emporiums will soon be full of cheap tack for some day of evil. Please avoid! If you spot any items, please remove them from display.
2 Days lunch box is bursting at the seams! Far toooo much goodness all around! Ham and Cheese bun, oranges in jelly. Cheese, toms, raspberries again and again. Two cakes of Jaffa and a rocky. Proper foods again and you know how good it is for you!
Having a grate one today. Looking at the fishing sites on the mariners and it is joyous news, seems that the scooonts chair has taken his money and ran! Don’t put your money in iron!
You know what, stuff the mill!0 -
Hello.
From my seat at very front of house I have a lovely view of a stunning sky away, away at the far end of my extension. My big window frame has been created today ( there will be a window seat under it soon!)
Another day of much lashing of rain / hailstones but bright and cool in between. Has turned nice now.
Nice dog walks.
A mooch around some furniture type shops. Looking for a table and chairs but will most likely buy second hand. Just wanted an idea! Did buy a cushion though!
Visited the mother. Ironed, hoovered and washed floors. Organised another charity collection for her next week.
I'm reading a new library book. Not my usual genre but I'm enjoying it. All day when I'd been rushing around I just wanted to be curled up on my sofa reading. Finally was.
Transferred some dollars to DD1 ...and said just because. The other 2 get nice things (food, meals out) so thought she could treat herself.
Bought a virtual daffodil for Daffodil Day in Australia. Dedicated it to OH.
And not a pleasure as such but watched the swearing in of a ( another!) new PM in Australia. You seriously wonder at those that are elected to represent their constituents / people. A friend sent me a very funny video by email that's summed up the whole dire situation!0
