    Very quick pleasures for today!

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Bigger son completed week 3 of NCS with a 100 mile bike ride (on a stationary bike - he did 20 of the 100 miles for his group).

    3) Hens OK.

    4) Took smaller son to have his hair cut. The lady barber told me at some length how "lovely" bigger son was (much tutting from smaller son) and how he comes in "with that beautiful girl with the amazing hair" (his NOT girlfriend). It seems bigger son had bumped into the barber whilst in the local pub and he had said "Hello!!! Meet my friends - come and have a game of pool with us". :-D

    5) On to next town to buy smaller son a bigger blazer.

    6) Cheating tea of meals I had frozen. We all had something different. Also had homemade soup for the freezer for lunch as it was getting so full.

    7) Bigger son drove to my brother in law's as he is 40 today. Also had the staples out today after his massive operation.

    8) Don't know where the time has gone this evening so I'm just catching up with Gardeners World.

    9) Oh yes, sold my violin on Ebay. It was such an important part of my life for several years (school and college orchestras etc) but I broke my arm aged 20 and it laid huge amounts of new bone down so I have no "turn" in that elbow at all. I spoke to the new owner on the phone and I think she will look after it. It is a late Victorian, German model and really not bad at all. The end of an era...

    Good Morning,

Frith Well done on parting with your violin. I still can't bring myself to sell my clarinet. I wasn't even very good. I keep saying I am going to take it up again when I retire :rotfl:

    Yesterday

    1. More things sorted and listed on eBay. I have bids!....... Charity bag is looking more full.

    2. Met DH for lunch. We went to visit Dippy on Tour. He was smaller than I remember him at the Natural History Museum. Then we treated ourselves to lunch at the Edwardian Tea Rooms at the Museum. (Bit posher these days, than when we used to visit when the children were small).

    3. Spoke to DD on the phone. She has had a falling out with one of the other girls. :( On a brighter note, looks like her next contract will be in India, with a girl she knows from her swimming days, who is returning for a second season. Exciting :j

    4. Being outside on a clear night. Looking at the stars and a bright full moon.

    5. Complementary tickets to see Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Open air and a bit cold, but the demographic of the audience meant we were all old enough to dress sensibly for the weather.........Brian came on stage with the aid of his Zimmer frame. Brilliant concert. We all had a great time, singing along and dancing. Great atmosphere.

Bit of a nostalgic day......remembering taking the kids to see the 'big dinosaur' and remembering driving to Wales with an old boyfriend, in a suped-up mini, with The Beach Boys blaring from open windows

    Have a lovely day :)

    A good day

    1. House is tidy. Took a while to clean the house but is done for now.

    2. Had a coffee in the garden in the sun.

    3. A free parking space at the station. Generally doesn't happen during the week.

    4. Train journey was ok and managed to get a seat.

    5. Daw first rugby match of the season. A friendly which we won but conditions weren't great. It poured with rain. DH did buy me an umbrella to walk back to his car. DS1 joined us. He arrived late from work but enjoyed himself and he has a busy weekend planned.

    6. A pizza out before we came home.

    Friday pleasures,

A fresh, bright morning so pleasure of wearing a sweatshirt.

Early over to the yard and princess pony had the devil in her, charging around and snorting, apparently a lot of the horses had been the same so either the change in weather is to blame or new grass coming through after all the rain.

Found a hawk’s feather in Lu’s paddock, seemed too big for a kestrel so perhaps a sparrow hawk, beautiful colours.

Watching a film in the afternoon, Gravity with SB, enjoyable if sad.

Was feeling a bit cba so Friday tea of fish fingers in a ready bake baguette.

Snuggling down in freshly changed bed and started a new book, so rock and roll me :rotfl:

Saturday spent mainly horizontally with horrid labyrinthitis. Felt it coming on last night so had forewarned DD2.

So she :walked dog, did laundry ...washed, hung out, brought in & ironed.
Watched GN and entertained her . She went and saw puppies. Had nice walk down woods.

I lay in bed/ sofa. Paid for tea. Chatted to friend on phone & finished library book all whilst feeling awful.

Hopefully better tomorrow , it runs its course.

The sun was shining all day

house elf - I've already sold smaller son's clarinet!

    Pleasures for today (Saturday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Smaller son went to watch his football team play in Curzon Ashton. Went with 3 friends and the coach stopped at a service station - one of his favourite things!

    3) Bigger son went to work and is now at a party.

    4) Hens well and 4 eggs.

    5) Went to my brother in law's 40th birthday party and had some very nice cake (cooked by my sister) and played football in the garden with my brother in law's very small nephew.

    6) Popped to Lidl on the way home, only for milk and butter... Dad has been unable to find new wellies as his legs are swollen (heart failure) and manufacturers don't realise old men can be nearly 6.5 feet tall and have size 13 feet! Anyway, found some of those rubber clog things in Lidl so we shall see if they are long enough. Also found a gadget where the "inside" bit is an alarm clock and thermometer. You put the "outside" bit in the garden then the clock shows you the temperature inside and outside - and the maximum and minimum. Just the job for my brother's birthday present and I bought one for us too! Only £5.

    7) Still perfecting my Millies Cookies recipe and made a batch tonight with chocolate and glace cherries which were very good.

    8) Sons enjoyed watched the YouTube boxing.

    9) Washed all the jumpers and hoodies that live on top of the wardrobe because we've started wearing jumpers again and they smelled a bit stale.

    10) The violin buyer only lives in Montgomery so I got in touch and I shall drop it off personally on Thursday on my way to ICT!

    Good morning,

Mhags Hope the Labrynthitis goes away quickly. :(

    Yesterday

    1. Bacon and cheese croissants for breakfast.......I will never be thin :rotfl:

    2. Cleaned out the floor of the hen pen and gave them a new flooring. (Hope it will be r-a-t proof ). Watching them explore their 'new' quarters was very funny. They were very vocal about their suspicions!

    3. Played with my best toy after lunch.......cut up lots of wood for the woodburner with my chainsaw. We must have enough wood for couple of years and the big logs stored at the bottom of the garden are gone :j I ache everywhere :rotfl:

    4. Steak and chips for tea.

    5. Watched Captain America. Started watching it on the TV in the kitchen while eating dinner, then had to decamp to the living room.

    Have a lovely day :)

    1. DS2 drove me to collect my car from the station. He offered without being asked.

    2. Quick chat with a friend.

    3. Went to watch the rugby league challenge cup final. I was supporting the winning team which was good. Great atmosphere and some entertaining people around us. Catalan dragons had a great deal of support from much of the English crowd.

    4. The players celebrating with their fans - not vast numbers but very vocal support.

    5. Went into London and had a walk round. We had a look round Fortnum and Mason always enjoyable looking round the food section but never buy anything.

    6. Went for a meal which wasn't too experience. The food was good but a woman at the next table was pontificating very loudly about everything. Then on train home a man and his girlfriend sat across the aisle from us and talked loudly about comedy all the way back.

Hope you feel better soon Mhags.

    Saturday pleasures,

Tried a new seeded bread flour and mixed with a little rye flour it made a delic loaf.

Picked and sorted some of the apples, only the perfect ones made it into the store in the shed, others were processed and frozen.

Gave the mini one of it bi-annual tidies inside, mostly hay and horse hair as you can imagine plus a very sad bag of pastilles that had forgotten about. They were a solid, melted lump!

Princess pony had broken through the tape and got into the paddock next door, the grass really was greener and she had a fat tum.

Very tired and in bed before 10.
  • Morning :)

Funny you should mention the Manchester bees DfV, we have giraffes in Worcester and DD's BF (down from Manc for the weekend ) puzzled me by asking what they meant - turned out that as the bee is the symbol of Manchester, he was assuming giraffes have some symbolism or link here - well if they do I have no idea but they look nice :rotfl:

Your comment about the Brian Wilson demographic being old enough to dress sensibly did make me smile houseelf - I went to see the RHCP at the Ricoh Arena (actually quite a while ago now), daughter and niece were down in front of the stage and my sister and I sat in nice comfortable seats and caught ourselves having a mature moment and tutting at the people going past with trays of beer in the searing heat, as they would get dehydrated and it would go right to their heads :o:rotfl::rotfl:

    Hope you feel better Mhags

Lovely family roast meal yesterday with 2 out of 3 kids, full get-together at mum's today :)

Courgettes still going strong and little butternut squashes getting bigger

    Lovely chat with neighbour

Really enjoyed catching up with all your posts :)
