    Morning all

    Pleasures for the weekend

    1. finished this batch of marking - shouldn't be any more until christmas :T
    2. House was cleaned - mostly by me
    3. went for a bike ride with OH. Was quite tough, there was some off-roading and hills  but i hardly walked any ;)
    4. some yummy food - leftover curries, fish pie and 'roast' lamb (actually lamb shanks cooked 'sous vide' in the slow cooker, my now-favourite way to cook lamb) with the trimmings
    5. had a nice bath after my cycling / house cleaning marathon with a G and T whilst OH cooked.

    And yesterday

    1. reasonably timed train to London - it was a two egg, two rosti breakfast kind of day :T
    2. met my sister and had a lovely day with her - tate modern (free) lunch by the river (which she eventually agreed to let me pay for) and then a wander round some 'secret london' places (free)
    3. Saw beautiful sunflowers from the train home
    4. caught up on the finale of 'unforgotten' and then watched Who do you think you are
    5. roofing works finally finished at ICT.

back to the number crunching. Have good days all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Thanks BoP. We have 6 months living expenses readily available, sinking funds for other things (home repairs, car replacement) and also save 20 and 32 percent to pensions respectively. Very boring for 27 yr olds!!
  • Aye that’s the weigh! Our mortgage people think its on their timescale. They’re out by a long shot. It for now the money is hidden from them.

You’re a very wise one, once we’re able to overpay by more than 10% we will tuck some away to try and be “mortgage neutral”, but I’m afraid I’ll get tempted to buy a little house in Ireland or France instead and then rates will rise like they did when I was a nipper and we will be without a paddle!!! So from now I sink most spare money into places we can’t access!
  • MandM90, you are wise beyond your years :T When do you plan to retire? :rotfl:

    Tuesday pleasures

Sun was shining & it was hot :T

Appreciating our good fortune - DH & I are both retired & DSis is still deciding what she wants to do :rotfl: so we all have plenty of time to do what we like :D

Decluttering slowly & finding useful items (indoors & outdoors) to donate to CS & knowing that I won’t regret donating :D

Chatting to next door’s gardener - who really likes our new shed :rotfl: & the colour of the fence preservative :rotfl:
Watching squirrels, birds, butterflies & bees who are all happy to visit our garden :)

Watching the lorry crane hoisting steel girders over our neighbour’s house - having an extension built

Seeing how happy DH is making items out of wood (he worked in an office for 36 years:eek:)

Seeing DSis happy spraying wood preserver on fence panels :)

    Hm bolognese for dinner

Pleasant night so able to sit outside with a glass of wine :D

Bedtime. Had hoped for earlier but it didn't happen. DD2 feeling poorly.

    A filled day.

Walk with dog. All the vibrant summer colours have muted and Autumn shades muscling in.

Then a walk down woods again with DD2. Went the long way, up, up and more up. Picked brambles /blackberries . Had a chat with an 81 year old ( sprightly enough!) chap and his 8 year old dog...there's a race to see who lives longest!

Found a stone and hid a stone.

Nipped into T for some flowers . Got some RTC sunflowers and some RTC apples . They didn't scan correctly so lady had to over-ride it but put in price as price per kg so got them for 18p instead of 68p .

Home and made a bramble/ apple crumble. Then took them and the flowers to visit a friend. Walked there and then we went down to our cafe at the castle . Huge chat . Then nice walk back through woods home. I'd told her I wrote elsewhere ( I write a blog) and was meaning here . She wanted to know what I wrote but I didn't want to share what I write here! I quite like the anonymity here ( though I reckon if you knew you me you'd know it was me! ) and I use it like a diary. I felt slightly uncomfortable. So didn't tell her!

Walked home. DD2 met me and moaned all about her brother . I'd have preferred a 'did you have a nice afternoon) .

nice dog walk this evening. I've done 18000 steps. And at least burnt off the tiffin slice I had this afternoon!

I'd hung washing out and it was damp at best. So just ironed that and hung on clothes horse to dry.

Had a letter from stupid pension company saying they apologised for the apology and I will get an extra £50 for my troubles ! This was in addition to a compensation they agreed on last week. Whatever, stupid pension company. Thanks.

I need the use of a van to shift furniture I'm buying from a private sale. Put a shout out on FB before I hired one and have the use of van and a friend's husband and my son tomorrow evening. Now just need to work out where it is all going to go meantime! But thanks stupid pension company compensation from last week for paying for it!

    Chat with friend.

    A good day.

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday).

    1) Bigger son reappeared very late last night and went straight to sleep. He drove to NCS this morning, and drove very well without arguing.

    2) I had a sneaky Sainsburys breakfast while I was in town.

    3) Hens well and 2 eggs. They like grapes as much as the old hens.

    4) Part baked rolls for lunch.

    5) Went to look after my niece so my sister could get on with jobs. Brother in law improving now - emergency doctors appointment for him this a.m but actually everything is heading the right way.

    6) Made chicken tikka for tea with rice and peas.

    7) Got bigger son from town and he drove back well. We were trundling along 2 villages from ours (40mph zone) and I could hear roaring and revving but I couldn't tell where it was coming from (I have been using the special mirror that you are supposed to use to spy on your children in the back of the car, twisting it round to be a rear view mirror but I hadn't set it up). There were a few cars coming towards us then a Caterham 7 SHOT past, screeching back in just missing the bonnet, followed by 3 motorbikes racing it! They so narrowly avoided the car coming the other way.

    8) Played football with smaller son.

    9) Phoned my school friend and we shall be meeting midway between our 2 houses tomorrow, in Broadway.

    10) Watched Holby City.

    Morning :)

    - A lazy start this morning as I'm going into work late today, I generally prefer to be there early/finish early but this is perfect today :)

    - Little butternut squashes are appearing on the plant, the crooknecks and the courgettes are still going strong. I might let a couple of the courgettes get marrow-sized

    - Got good stocks of oregano, basil, thyme, chives and flat-leaved parsley in the freezer to see me through the winter. Debating doing the same with the mint - I generally use more herbs in winter anyway, and I did minimal cooking in the heatwave so have hardly used them

    - More late roses are appearing

    - Looking forward to seeing DD and her BF at the weekend and big family get-together on Sunday :)

    Tuesday pleasures,

After a few days of cloudy and humid days a warm summer’s day with blue skies.

Lesson on the princess pony, she went so well and instructor was impressed.

Buoyed by above I decided to tackle her unruly mane, should have learnt my lesson from childhood when gave my girls world a crew cut, oh well it will be cool for equine pal and hopefully grow back before colder weather comes :D

Enjoyed a pitta and salad for lunch but then lovely Capt S went down to the village shop to get me a well know chocolate ice-cream, am seriously addicted to the dark cho and raspberry one!

A clear sky for the evening, last walk around the garden with little dog, moon was bright even though it’s only just over half full.
