mhagster we're hoping to retire from corporate life in our early forties then pursue something that means we can work together - not sure what that means yet. We would like to be together more, do something that contributes to the community and that inspires us. I hope we're lucky/diligent enough to get there :)

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1. Woken up by FIL putting homegrown cucumbers and tomatoes in our house, and have picked some of our tomatoes. Guess we're having pasta this weekend. Or roasted tomatoes on toast, drizzled in olive oil. Mmmmmm.
    2. Watched half of Notting Hill last night whilst noshing on homemade veggie chilli. It made me giggle so hard I snorted chilli and had a coughing fit. Such a lady.
    3. DH is working away Mon-Thurs at the moment. We had a lovely chat last night and we were looking at properties in Ireland. It's nice to dream!
    4. Cuddle with the cats in bed before sleep. Managed to sleep through the night without anxiety waking me up. Going to try and get loads done at work today to ease some of the stress.
    5. Managed to be my bum in gear and lay out my workout and work clothes last night, which made it just that bit easier to wake at 5am to go to CrossFit. Unfortunately managed to forget my water and my lunch, but I still made it! Will have to delay my porridge oats until lunch to avoid unecessary spend. Does this mean I get two dinners!? :D

    Good Morning Peeps,

Another one here who uses this as blog/diary, although I rarely look back. I am a glass half empty person, and this helps put things into perspective :D

    Tuesday

    1. DS1 is home from hols. He has had a nice time. He looks well, and has not been arrested, or ended up in hospital :j (Glass half empty :o).

    2. More things onto EBay. There is space in DD's bedroom floor, ( EBay Empire HQ), but only 2 things in the CS bag. :rotfl:

    3. DS2 finally ironed his school shirts, so pocket money is reinstated. ;)

    4. KFC chicken Tuesday treat and LOs for DS1 when we arrived home from the airport after midnight

    5. Free O2 Caffè Nero after Mr W shop with coupons.

    Have a lovely day :)
  • V Backyard at the mill. Just waiting on the customer with his cloth. We cut it here I tells yous. Thinks pension! On pensions and things, BoP notes the advert at the moment and yes he did dish out his advice yesterday as well. The advice BoP got on his apprenticeship in October 1978. Don’t put a penny in the bucket because when you retire, there will be nothing left! There! Sore Ted for you! And its free!

4 Now that’s the fables put right. Now at mill and inn BoP’s packed lunch box today! Sour grapes, toms, cheese bun, jelly and oranges. Orange and three cakes of Jaffa. Packed a lunch again!

3 Just sore tin out BoP Tour in DC and Big Apple. Got the Beatle to see as well. Hopefully the Columbus will be at the NASM in Washington. Looking at Brooklyn park and Coney island this time!

PM2DD Looks we is on a good run after playing the goalie in the grey top! Fortunately we has changed his top! #UTM Now the big question is, do we do the Rounders in NYC?

Having a right one today! Our Dumb meters were fitted in February. They have not yet produced a bill! I has prodded them with me stick, and the gas and leck bored has not collected the shillings from the coin box either! Now I prodded the things again on Tuesday, no I had to man crank the data. Not that the boreds collected their shillings from my coin box since February through June! So eventually got them to give an inaccurate bill last night. Brilliant news, our direct debit is reduced to £3 a month! AVOID!

Enough of this baubling nonsense now and on with your day!

Here goes nothing! Internet is being dodgy again.

Lashing with rain first thing but dried up by late morning. Occasional burst of sunshine through the clouds.

Lovely chat with DD1 in between lectures at uni. She told me she's coming over next July ( as well as this December/ January) with 2 friends . Lovely stuff!

    Nice dog walks.

Was having a nice walk down woods when builder called to ask where I was? Er....out as I was fed up waiting for you! So then had to cut walk earlier than we would have done and head back. He now has a key!

Went to visit my friends mum who's a bit poorly. Was nice to see her.

Then went and visited my own mother. Sigh. Took 10 year old magazines to recycle.

Chat with my niece. GN had won a prize at ceilidh a couple of months ago for an hours tutoring . So she had that this evening .

A month or so ago I walked a dog for a new friend . They returned the favour by helping me collect furniture tonight. So I now have a new sideboard, shelving unit, 2 side tables and a coffee table. Don't really have the room for all downstairs so oh...that'll be my bedroom filled again! :)
But it was a good buy, it's all walnut which is the same as my new kitchen worktops so shall tie in. I did offer them petrol money ( and to be fair was just a few minutes drive away) but they kindly declined.

Met neighbour / friend who told me her husband had seen a fox at my skip this morning at 5.30am ...how exciting!

Standing on my concreted floor! There are now walls and tomorrow will be a roof! I keeked my head through what will be my laundry room window.

    Wednesday pleasures

Although cloudy & overcast it was still quite warm

Pleasant walk to sm by the dock - saw a cormorant as well as 3 coots, seagulls, dozen or so mallards, two crested grebes & 13 Canada Geese.

Picked up & binned a few bits of litter - a drop in the ocean :o I despair when there are bins & people still drop their carp on the ground:mad:

Treated myself to a new washing up bowl :rotfl: I know how to live :rotfl:

Managed 2 loads of washing & a drum clean - the washing is on the whirligig & I may be bold & leave it out overnight - possibly

DH is so happy doing things with wood that he built a table for the garage & is storing the garden shredder underneath it :T I didn’t have the heart to tell him that he was supposed to be laying the flooring in the shed

Prepared the Austrian potato salad well ahead of time - we had that with herby breadcrumbed pork escalopes & cold cooked green beans with a drizzle of olive oil for dinner - truly scrumptious

Lovely relaxing bath & now that we have new taps the shower attachment is perfect for sluicing off :rotfl:

    Entertained by the squirrels

Sitting outside, typing & drinking a glass of wine :D - second evening of no telly :rotfl:

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday).

    1) Bigger son drove to NCS carefully.

    2) Hens well and 3 eggs.

    3) Had a rush of doing stuff a.m as I knew I would be going out after lunch - washing up mountain, clothes on the line, tidied up, made lunch then a Spag bol ready for tea...

    4) Went to Broadway to see my school friend! Went to the nearest tea room to the car park. (1.45ish). Had a "quick chat", looked at the clock and it was 5pm! No time to look round, drove home again.

    5) Spag bol was tasty.

    6) Cleaned the bathroom.

    7) Watched 24 Hours in A and E
  • -Changed hours at work (a few everyday instead of having 2 full days 'off' seems to be working, still getting everything done )

    - The lawn is mainly green and I cut it and it's looking half decent

    - Going to make a blackberry and apple crumble for this weekend, more an autumn thing than an August bank holiday one for me, but looking forward to it!

    - Loved the Lenny Henry 60th Birthday Show last night, I love Lenny and it made my night seeing a clip from Tiswas, I used to love that so much :):). Took me back to having a swimming lesson early on saturday then walking home, buying sweets with my pocket money on the way then spending the morning watching Tiswas which was the best and funniest thind I'd ever seen :):) Lenny is also relatively speaking local to me (give or take 30 miles or so :rotfl:) and supports the same team :)

    - Tuberous begonia, garlic chives and dwarf sunflowers still looking lovely in my pot :)

    Wednesday pleasures,

Surprised mama blackbird by switching on the water feature, she must have been having a bath on the other side, she flew off, loudly remonstrating with me.

Cycled down to the garden centre in the village for some plant food and a few other bits.

Time spent in the garden, my baskets are just starting to fade a bit so the pleasure of thinking what to plant for Autumn.

Over to the yard to see my lovely girlie, no work just cosseting.

Driving home in early evening sunshine, warm with window open and singing along to the radio.

We too enjoyed the Sir Lenny show HopelessCase and loved seeing the Tiswas clips, big memory from my childhood.

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1) Got SO much done last night, after work. Three loads of laundry, changed sheets, pickled cucumbers(!), made homemade pitta and falafels, watered garden and window boxes, ironed clothes for today and tomorrow, cleaned the kitchen and prepped lunches for the rest of this working week. Tonight all I have to do is go to Crossfit, throw together a salad and eat it with the falafels and pitta.
    2) Great feedback after a work meeting from a couple of Directors. They want me to run an internal upskilling session on driving meetings and general project management. :)
    3) DH is home tonight for the weekend. Yay! Can't wait to see him and give him a big smoosh!
    4) Watched second half of Notting Hill last night before sleep.
    5) Decent night's sleep!

    Good Morning Folks,

3 Just sore tin out BoP Tour in DC and Big Apple. Got the Beatle to see as well. Hopefully the Columbus will be at the NASM in Washington. Looking at Brooklyn park and Coney island this time!

Soooo jealous! We saw Enterprise this time........We would like to see them all, but may be an expensive version of plane spotting :rotfl:

If you are going to Coney Island I hope you will be having a Nathan's Dog. Not good for you, but proper NY food:D. We went on the Wonder Wheel. Very expensive ticket and it only went round twice  Avoid! Unless you really want to say you have been on it

    Wednesday

    1. Grand tour ...... Debenhams to collect new swimming cozzy and £5 Click and Collect voucher which I spent on new drawers. (TMI). Boots... got DS2 new hairdryer using points. Costco for flea drops for pets. ( Free sample carts were out, so had a few little snacks :)). Mr A for cat food offer. Phew!

    2. Roast dinner for tea, as DS1 has been eating Greek food for a week, I thought he may like some plain cooking.

    3. DS2 looking after friends pets while they are on holiday, so I went over with him to help with feeding time. Cat cuddles.

    4. Ant Man and The Wasp using Meerkat Movies. All enjoyed it. :rotfl:

    5. Making plans for meeting friends for coffee. Been a bit of a hermit this week. Haven't even seen the builder, as he has gone on hols for a week !

    Have a lovely day :)
