    Saturday pleasures,

My shop brought roses have all opened, the cheapest I could find but a beautiful deep cerise colour.

Deliberately left my watch at home, my phone in the car and spent the whole morning with horse girlie. Gentle stroll around the shady track, followed by a cool sponge off (for her although I was tempted) and then I grazed her in hand along the hedgerows. It’s interesting to watch her picking through the different plants and grasses to find what she needs/likes, clever girlie.

Home and so hot so my turn for a cool down.

Popped out to the farm shop just before closing and bagged a few bargains.

Rhubarb crumble ice-cream, oh my :T In my difference your honour it was half price.
  • 1) This cool part of the day, early mornings before the heat are my delight in life at present.

    2) An even more successful day with the 'free please take' table at the bottom of the drive yesterday and I've found more things to go out today so I'm hoping most of them will find new homes too.

    3) Supper last night, we had many steamed veg, have been missing veg as we've mostly had salad but Oh my, did it ever taste good yesterday!

    4) Off to the garden centre for coffee this morning and a trip to the farm shop which is always a pleasure.

    5) DD1 and James fly home this evening and I'll be able to talk to her and not just text, a mummy's pleasure is chatting to her baby no matter how old she is (both of us that is!).
  • V Oh yeah, dippy egg morning with buttered marmite soldiers. Well dipped and tum was rubbed. Then jam on toast, tea and more tum rub.

4 Bins out to emporium w8rs. Got all in and a treat for Raffles. Got prawns for tea with kedgeree. Grimsby smoked haddock! More later. Proper foods again!

3 Just watching the golf. Bit muffed as they are on about woods. My dad said that he will not win on a links. This year is not his either!

2 Had wrong mouse last weak at work, so not bothered that it was still on offer today. Reverted to oranges and raspberry jelly instead! Watch this weak for anovver packed lunch box from BoP.

    Not having one today!

A terrific week of BoPiness awaits for you!

it's Sunday evening. Bit headachy since last night and most of the day. It's been overcast today and has just started to drizzle. I think the temperature at best is 'mild' ( cardigan on)

Yesterday was a busy day from start to finish. Had a six year old staying.

Had a fundraising garden party with 35 lovely people joining us. We raised at this point £360 with some more promised to come in. This is for my husband's oncologist's research back in Melbourne and a donation to our local cancer charity. Not bad for a feast of cakes and good company.

I had made empire biscuits, small meringues , big meringues, lemonade scones, honeycomb tiffin, tablet, strawberry tarts, cupcakes big and small, a try and cover up a disaster that turned out to be a hit...lemon drizzle bites, topped with lemon curd and crushed meringue!, banana bread. My friend brought a lemon and ginger cheesecake and some Crunchie tray bake.

There was much chatter and much laughter.

There was a 30 year old reunion! Though we have seen each other in that time but all three flat mates together since goodness knows when....probably about 23 years ago at a wedding! Just lovely!

Popped down to friends last night for an hour.

Today , up early with dog ( DD2 had dropped something on her floor with a clatter at 5am that made me wake with a jump. Then dozed on sofa once I'd dealt with dog.

Went to church for early service. Then stayed for more formal service because of visiting minister. She was fabulous and I think everyone left that church smiling. She spoke of our gifts and what we had to share. I was sat next to friend who had told me her big secret last week and have wondered all week why she chose to burden me with this knowledge. But I now understand that she needed to be listened to and to feel she's not 'doing it ' on her own. So my gift was to be a listener . We both said at the end that what had been said was meant directly at us.

Nipped into M & S got some lovely RTC flowers and RTC cake for friends birthday ( cheapskate) popped in with them but she was out but got a nice text later to say thanks.

A couple of nice doggy walks .

Just going to return some borrowed garden chairs. Then I think it will be jimjams and Poldark! Can't say better than that ;)

One of the hottest days yet :-/ 29 - 30 this afternoon and horribly humid.

    Pleasures for today (Sunday).

    1) A lie in.

    2) Caught most of the Archers.

    3) Hens OK but 2 had been pecked :-( and had scabs where their tail feathers haven't yet grown back after I rehomed them. I made them a tunnel out of some cardboard so they've got that to play in and cleaned the sleeping quarters out.

    4) Cleaned the bathroom which was boiling hot work.

    5) Smaller son's favourite weekend lunch - part baked rolls with chicken, salami, pepper, avocado, tomatoes and soft cheese.

    6) Went to the local steam station and attached museum this afternoon with smaller son.

    7) My sister's birthday tea at her house. Smaller son not only went with me (he's finding communicating particularly difficult at the moment) but stayed on after tea and we played a board game.

    8) Watered the pots and our thyme pot frog is still there!

    9) Have cleared most of the kitchen ready for V to visit and skim over the ceiling tomorrow morning.
  • One I forgot

Listening to the seagulls (on the Isle of Dogs, London) & thinking I am at the seaside :rotfl:

1 Full English snorkers, with obligatory cuppa.
2 Cleaned the kitchen and hallway floors, I’ve been meaning to all week
3 Pork roast with veggies was dinner, and strawberries and banana is dessert.
4 I haven’t cleared as many clothes as I wanted but things are tidier and there’s a bag of cs clothes achieved, I still have another cupboard to go, tomorrows task I think.
5 Garden watered with lots of animal help.

    Good Morning!

    Sunday

    1. Friends returned to finish the shed. We have a new shed :j

    2. I went food shopping, (something I have been meaning to do all week PK!), and was able to rustle up some sandwiches for lunch. :D

    3. Watched the Mark Kermode Cinema programme and half of the Death of Stalin, (again), :rotfl:

    4. Hunt the hens........they had been ranging all day. We were a bit late escorting them to their house. They decided wild camping behind the hose reel was more fun.

    5. More twigs burned in the wood burner. DS1 joined us. So did the bat. Beautiful moon and sky.

    Have a lovely day :)
  • We had a lovely day yesterday until it got horribly hot and humid in the evening, poor DD and BF had a long megabus journey, I hope it had air conditioning!

Slept really badly in the heat but enjoying the cool of the early morning with the back door open-bliss!

Lovely bbq yesterday, OH did all of the actual bbqing for the first time in ages, it's so much nicer (and less exhausting) when I don't end up doing it all - and wonderful that he's so much better, with so much more energy:):)

Didn't talk about work all weekend :j:j

Arranged to meet friends at the weekend to discuss our holiday, double yay:j:j. In the last 5 years, we've had a week in a caravan in France twice, and 2 weekend breaks, which were all lovely, but I can't even begin to say how happy I am that we're having a week in Spain, for the holiday itself and just for the thought that we're turning a corner after a rotten time :j

Poldark - not been enjoying this series so much but last night's was a cracker :):)
