Going to be quite a change from here which is technically a village but is very large and sprawling and holds many people. We shall have a nice time exploring and finding new places to love to replace those we'll be leaving behind here, I'll particularly miss the Weald and Dpwnland Open Air Museum over in Sussex and the Hillier Arboretum at Braishfield near Romsey both places dear to my heart.MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »Many thanks we're not actually in Gloucester we're a little way out and more country! I shall locate and visit the Museum of Buildings so many many thanks for that VJsMum and we've already found an arboretum at Batsford and the huge one at Westonbirt too. DD1 is going to take me to St.Fagans at Cardiff as well, so many treats woohoo!
Not a million miles from me - a lovely part of the worldThere is Snowshill Manor for the snowdrops in spring, the beautiful GWR going from the racecourse at Cheltenham to Broadway(not done the Broadway bit yet, it's only just opened), I also second Avoncroft - and the Black Country Museum a bit further afield too.
Symmonds Yat/the stunning Wye Valley, Forest of Dean - lived my whole life round here and I love it. As George Michael would say, all that's missing is the sea(although I do sorely miss that!)
Saturday pleasures - 1) it's Saturday:j:j
2) DD and BF home and a lovely family weekend planned
3) Rain last night - first time I've actually seen rain since I don't remember when (it did rain here last Friday but we were in Wales where it was sunny). Went all Natasha Beddingfield and stood outside and enjoyed it for a bit:)
4) My courgette/squash bed looks so impressive, and I'm overrun with courgettes
5) Really pretty this morning with a bit of a haze which I'm sure will burn off for a lovely day - showing DD's BF the Malvern Hills later
Have a lovely day everyone0 -
Friday pleasures,
Reading that my friend Lyn is moving to such a fantastic part of the country and is obviously so excited about this new chapter in her life, excellent :j
Went to se DSIL in hospital, we chose to go the longer route across country rather than attempt the dreaded A14, good job we did as apparently long delays on way back.
My lovely SIL was a tad down when we first arrived but soon perked up and was smiling by the time we left. She has a smart, clean room in a relatively new hospital, being well looked after by all staff, yay to our lovely NHS.
Driving home across the flat fens and seeing black thunderclouds in the distance, no rain for us unfortunately but other parts had a good soaking, just hope our time will come as everything is burnt to a crisp.
Lazy and not really OS but a cheeky Chinese takeaway for supper, little dog adores prawn crackers and has to be monitored carefully if she knows there in the house!0 -
1) Getting a text from DD1 who said she was sitting in the square in Dresden in the sun, with a lovely cup of coffee and a free Opera being performed and loving every second of it!
2) A beautiful bouquet of flowers from Maisie's mum for having her with us for 4 days last week, roses, lisianthus, stattice all blues, pinks and whites it's so pretty.
3) Review at GPs surgery all OK, she's even, bless her given me a written prescription in case it takes a while to set up a new GP at the other end of the move, brilliant!
4) We put the wallpapering table up at the end of the drive and put all the things I'm shedding on it with a FREE, PLEASE TAKE note on it and lots of things were taken, result.
5) Sorted out the smaller chest freezer from the garage and gave it a good clean so it will come indoors today and I can go right through the big chest freezer, sort out what to use now, give my neighbour the surpluses of fruit and veg that are home grown and then we can get rid of the big one hopefully on freecycle. The smaller one will go before we move and we'll buy a new one when we're sorted out at the other end but it will be an upright.0 -

V BoP had his usual snorker fest this morning, and we has enough eggs left overs for dippy eggs in the morning! Tea was also drunk!
4 Went out to barber again and still paid full price again. Hair loss what is that!
3 Just down now to watch the cricket. SSS Ex I thinks. Feet are curling up the now!
2 Nite is tooo minds at the moment. No knows if its outs or inns! Wobbleades shall be purchased!
Having one today. There is no reason not to have a quick grumble earlier. Our local council want to increase car park charges and think people will come into town and shop! Well at the barber, the local council wagon was in the free car park taking two places. Photo uppped to buckface.
It has started, the cricket that is!0 -
1 We hadn!!!8217;t planned today so got up and had porridge before popping a few towns over.:)
2 Pondered around the CS!!!8217;s said I said no to a lovely top, I!!!8217;m regretting it, but I have so many tops at the moment, but said yes to 2 Kate Atchison books, stopped at the fruit and veg stand, and picked up some coconut rice I am looking forward to trying with a Korma.:D
3 Much to DH!!!8217;s dismay we called in at Lidl on the way back, so picked a few things up and 6 plants.
4 Just cleaned all upstairs, the bathroom, hoovered, clean bedding on, all mirrors done, dusted, then moved downstairs and hoovered and did a quick mop around it!!!8217;s better than it was.Shattered now.
5 DH and I sat in the garden with the chimera rocks glowing, putting the worlds to rights on some very deep thoughts.:rotfl:
6 A friend sent a wonderful surprise gift that arrived this morning, bless them, they just heard about the burglary and horrible start to the year, as we haven!!!8217;t been saying to much as it sounds - well horrible, but it was nice to put the world to rights and the way we see it is I suspect we were being kept away in case of violence as there are just too many things when we talk through that day.0 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday).
1) A lie in!
2) Hens well and 5 eggs (which is physically impossible for 4 hens but one did not have a proper shell).
3) Sausage sandwiches for breakfast.
4) Bigger son's NOT girlfriend but very close friend is no longer his friend at all since yesterday. :-( They have talked pretty much daily for 6 years. I don't know what happened. Tears yesterday but he has been to work today and has gone to a party this evening.
5) Smaller son went to watch his team play football.
6) I got as much done as possible while I was son-free! Bought smaller son's birthday present - the new season football top. And tickets to their away game which is on his birthday. :-D Actually cheaper to go on the coach with the other fans than to go on the train.
Also went and had my hair cut and eye brows threaded. Had a cup of tea in Sainsburys and got a few bits.
7) I've made Spanish chicken which I've got to remember to portion up and put in the freezer just now.
8) New neighbours (and the mum of one of them) shouted "Helloooo" through the window and waved!
9) Couldn't open a jar so had to call on other neighbour. We've got it down to a fine art now. I knock on his side window (so no fear of letting the dog out). He waves, I hold up the jar, he opens window and opens the jar and we nod at each other and that's it until the next time! The arrival of the new dog has complicated things because after the jar opening he now has to pick the new dog up so I can say hello to it through the window!
10) Just watched Casualty.0 -

Sunday pleasures:
Lovely walk on the Malvern Hills yesterday, reminding me how unfit I am as it's all flat where I normally walk the dogs, first sign of a slope and I'm out of breath- worth it for the views :heart2:
Nice drink in the pub garden with family
Picked even more courgettes, you can almost see them growing:)
Booked a holiday to Mallorca, with friends - they booked last year and we've managed to get a week in the same hotel for pretty well the same price. First hot Med holiday for 5 years :j:j
