5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

1) We've defrosted both chest freezers, one yesterday and one this morning and sorted out the contents of both so He Who Knows will be taking the small freezer and the bottom layer of out of date things to the tip this afternoon, I can sort out what's left and we can use it up before we move.
2) The above is going to save me lots of money!
3) The ice from both freezers has been used to water some small trees in the garden that are looking very sad in all this heat, I've put the big lumps over their roots so they can gently melt in and soak the ground.
4) I have several completely empty cupboards in the kitchen now as the contents have been boxed up ready for the day.
5) I am no longer having to sit on the garden chair in the lounge as I have since we sent the 3 piece suite to the BHF as I have my poang armchair back and a much comfier perch!0 -

Just look at the ... The sky has turned grey!
V It is warm. Raffles is flaked out and flopped last night on the sofa. He was off his salmon stick treats! BoPsie was overheating as well!
4 Had the end of the kedgeree for tea last night. Good proper foods and good for you! Looking forward to Saturday brunch out with the vets! And another packed lunch as well!
3 less than 8 months now until BoP trips over to san Fransisco. More details soon, but remember BoP is appearing at the Theatre of Fish on 4th August.
2 That should make yous tickle a bit then! Again tonight BoP is trimming his already looks for the beach in the gym!
Not having one today.
How Cool is that!0 -
BoP, are you sure you will be allowed in :rotfl: USA immigration might decide you are too sensible :rotfl:
Hot, hot, hotbut with the very occasional cooling breeze
& 30 seconds of rain :rotfl: When it finally rains I will be standing out in the garden with my DSis & probably DH :rotfl:
The HCA only taking two attempts to draw blood :T
Finding out I have actually decluttered a few lbs :T just by stopping snacking, cutting down on carbs & actually moving a bit more :rotfl: who knew :rotfl::rotfl:
My lavender plant (gift from DH & DSis ) is attracting bees & butterflies :T:j
Salad for lunch & dinner for me
A visit from the bat.
Only the concrete slabs left to lay on the now flat & level shed base :T DH & DSis have worked hard:rotfl:

Quick pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) V back to skim over the ceiling. He'll come round again tomorrow to fit the lights.
3) Hens OK - 4 eggs. I have worked out who the pecky one is!
4) Took bigger son to town.
5) Popped in to Sainsburys for a cup of tea (still blindingly, ridiculously hot and no rain since before my birthday in June). Went back out to my car. Put the keys in the ignition. The trolley collecting man said, "Don't drive your car". There was some confusion at this point until he gave me a letter that was under the windscreen wiper. A letter of apology that someone had driven into my car...
I'm not sure how he managed to damage so many different bits - the bumper, sill, side panel, possibly the door, the lights... I can't imagine for a minute that the insurance will want to fix it, as it's 14 years old.
At the bottom of the note was some different handwriting with names and numbers - of 2 local CID officers who had witnessed it! So a pleasure is that the insurance company won't think I'm scamming them.
Phoned the driver and he was helpful enough. Phoned my insurance and they were OK (though no phone call from the courtesy car firm yet) and I told them the registration of the other driver and turns out he was in a massive van! Hence the damage.
6) Had a massive clean up when I got home of all the plaster blobs from the new ceiling - dust and rubble was in/on everything so ended up cleaning the cupboards out, the shelves - this was EXTREMELY hot work.
7) Had a game of football with smaller son.
8) Made some Millies cookies.
9) Phoned my school friend.
10) Tidied the garden (of bits of plasterboard), watered the pots and my frog in the thyme was still there.0 -
Pain abut the car Frith, but you were probably lucky the CID officers where there, so many people hit and run in supermarket car parks!
Cooler night last night, with quite a breeze. The door banged a week or so ago when it was windy and now our nervous springer is scared and tries to climb on me or the back of the sofa when it's windy and the doors and windows are open - difficult when it's still too hot to close them!
National Trust card and car stickers came, now to use them!
Going to have a half day on Friday again, I really hope there's a big thunderstorm!
Managed to do half of freezer reorganisation/new inventory, so progress
Harvested and froze more basil from my little plants0 -
Good Morning Peeps,
A bit fresher this morning. Very pleasant for sitting out on our ‘sun terrace’.
The last few days......
1. Admiring our new shed.
2. Evening fires in the fire pit/woodburner have also got rid of a lot of old wood we can’t store for the woodburner, as it is treated wood.
3. Watching videos on You Tube about where we are going on hols. Getting excited.
4. DS2 and DD seem to be having a good time abroad, which makes me happy.
5. Last day of term. :j Celebrated with a trip to Pizza Express........went mad and had a glass of wine
Going into work this morning to try to finish ‘the big task’. Then to the dentist, as I have broken another tooth. Let’s try to squeeze a couple of OSP from today :rotfl:
Have a lovely day0 -
Hello. Today is another day ...as in if I'd posted last night I'd have said tomorrow is another day!
Tuesday felt a bit meh! Did not feel the love for it all which is unusual for me to be and I didn't really like it.
In amongst the general meh-ness. I watched friends kid for an hour. Washing got dried outside. Ironing was done. Mince and potatoes and dumplings ( not had in years) for tea. It's stayed dry and the sun even came out of the clouds.
Onwards, Mhags, onwards0 -
Morning all from the south of France
Wow Frith - good job no-one was hurt.
Onwards Mhags
Pleasures for Monday
1. I didn't kill my OH who was snoring fit to bust in our hotel room :T Combined with the heat in London on Sunday meant that i only had about 4 hours sleep. I felt surprisingly ok all day
2. Eurostar - not sure it's OS, but i love it. Tho i did realise that I could have got one all the way to Avignon which would have been fab. instead I had to 'make do' with Paris.
3. Paris - I love Paris, I know it fairly well. I was going to go to the Musee d'orsay art gallery but it is shut on Mondays. So i dumped my bag in left luggage and took a leisurely walk along the left bank, sat in the Tuilleries for a time, then wandered some back roads till i found a lovely place for lunch. Then back to the Gare De Lyon
4. TGV southwards. I 'may' have had a snooze, but also did some work and some gazing out of the window.
5. Friend picked me up at Beziers station - then a wonderful drive through the hills to her lovely home. She'd laid on some snacks and wine for us.
And Yesterday
1. woke up to glorious blue sky and sunshine with the mountains / hills visible through the window
2. Quick breakfast and a drive to a market town - Lamalou Les Bains - for a wander in the market and then leisurely coffee with her ex-pat friends. Followed by a gorgeous quiche lunch
3. A drive to a local swimming spot on the river - after the first initial intake of breath on going in the river, it was gorgeous
4. back for exercise and yoga class. i liked the yoga - the HIT exercise, not so much :rotfl:
5. Then back for more snacks and wine.
IT's a social whirl down here - I just fit in to what friend would do anyway. Today is more yoga, more swimming and a trip to the local Gangette for food, music and wine...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Sorry about your car Frith but good news on the CID presence.
Recent pleasures,
Bit of a tough time in our family but pleasure is that we are close and there for each other.
Picking toms like made now and it feels like every meal has them in some form, am thinking will need to give our tummies a break and make some sauce for the freezer.
Little dog is coping ok in the heat, mainly due to the haircut lovely friend gave her last week.
Lulu is doing ok as well, not doing much work wise in the heat but gave her muscles a good massage yesterday which she loved.
Cool showers, iced drinks and fans, it’s weird to think that in years to come we will be saying “ remember the summer of 2018 “0 -
Frith, aw sorry about the car, but wow to the lovely people witnessing it.
VJsmum, it sounds like an amazing time.
1 Reading your pleasures inspired me into writing some of my own.
2 Overly proud of my first ever home grown/ courgette that wants to be a marrow, and plenty more on the way, I was very dubious given the size of the plant!
3 Made some headway at DFs yesterday and spoke with his neighbours, back over again today for another load.
4 Our air conditioning, I know it’s not MSE, however both we and the animals are very grateful.
5 Enjoying watching the birds and flutter bys on the buddleia0
