5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Highdays

Morning all, and it's a lovely one.

Some pleasures:

1. Loving these late summer days, warm and sunny but just starting to get a nip in the air. Such a relief after the frantic hot heatwave days. These are days to enjoy not tolerate.
2. Had a great few days away with brother and SIL. Meeting up with them again together with my other brother and SIL for a few days in Northamptonshire over the Bank Holiday. Heven't met up with younger brother since New Year so looking forward to that. Just time to unpack and repack and do a bit of washing!
3. SIL's brothers have a farm so came back with a big sack of potatoes, a net of onions, dozens (literally!) of eggs and a big carrier full of apples. Stood and prepped the apples yesterday and they are now tucked in the freezer waiting to be added to blackberries and crumble mix. Love free food, can see quite a few Spanish omelettes in our near future!
4. Hubby had his long awaited dental procedure yesterday, all went well but not very MSE as the NHS waiting list was 12-18 months so we bit the bullet - not literally - and he went privately. He had been a bit pottered about how they were going to do it but in the event it all went very smoothly so he is a bit sore but very relieved. Soup for tea.
5. Home alone this morning so having a coffee and will then make a start on some wardrobe sorting and culling. Need to find some in between seasons clothes, I know I'll have some but as each season arrives I can never remember what I wore the year before so wil have a root around while the house is quiet and I can concentrate. Will be more than ready for Mr H to arrive home and distract me at lunchtime but |I'mhoping to be done by then and feeling very virtuous.

Best get a move on then if I want a free afternoon and I'd like to get into my summerhouse for a potter and a play. Most of the summer has been far too hot, today feels just right. Goodness, compared to some of you we live a very tame life, steady away and as little drama as possible suits us very well these days. Oh dear!

Rubbish sleep so was glad to get up.
A few chores before going out this morning. Small ironing. Hoovered the car which I was supposed to do yesterday. Footwell gets very grassy/leafy from where we walk. And topped up the windscreen washers. Then out to work.

Was an emotional one! So I stopped in to see my baby on the way home. Smiles and cuddles just what I needed.

Quick nip into supermarket to get supplies.

Popped down to CP…just as it started raining…me in my sandals. So a short rainy walk.
And a swim. And a chatter with my neighbours. A chat on phone to sister. And a visit from a baby !

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Did little during the morning.

3) Went to local National Trust. Saw 2 cars run into each other on the way (one written off) so I've already received a text from one insurance company, as a witness. Smaller son and I did the long walk, despite the relentless heat.

4) Went to Waitrose.

5) Traybake for tea.

6) Listening to an hour of thunder but still no rain. Everything is dried to a crisp.

Pleasures for today (Thursday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Tiler returned! Just the grouting to do tomorrow.

3) Played chess with smaller son in Sainsbury's cafe. He won 2-1.

4) Nice chicken curry for tea.

5) Looking forward to getting the furniture put back and a massive clean up once the tiler has finished.

Hello. Had spent the night at the CP, so up bright and early and went my solo walk. Watched some deer and then the sunrise. Then had a lovely teeny tiny walk with doggy. The sky a gorgeous colour.

Then the nicest swim this morning…was a beautiful blue sky and gently warm. Was almost at my last couple of laps when swim pal came in so stayed a bit longer.

Then quick shower, bags packed and we squeezed in another walk before heading home as plumber was coming…aye… a wee bit later than he’d said. Grrr! As I’d have stayed an extra hour! Anyway…cut the grass, planted more pansies and moved the emptied this morning garden bin round the back where I’ll just refill it!

Swim stuff washed as well as more caravan blankets. All dried and folded ready to go back.

Then went a BIG walk with DD2 and The Baby. Met two sets of friends so chatted with them .

Work call so a new service booked in and arrangements made to go and meet family.

A friend was getting rid of some pictures so I got a lovely big woodland print for the caravan.

Back here for a wee while and baby bath time which we did to some Dolly songs.

And a HUGE chat to work colleague/friend…almost 2 hours! Me…oh it’s dark outside!

Pleasures for today (Friday)

1)A good sleep!

2) The tiler returned and has finished!

3) Had a lovely time at coffee morning and was invited out this afternoon but I couldnt go due to paying tiler etc.

4) Pranced around on the new floors then cleaned the other floors where the tiler had walked in and out.

5) Meatballs for tea with tomato sauce that I cooked earlier today.

6) Watching our football team online now, but it's not the best match.

7) Lost enough weight to get into a pair of "normal" trousers. I've had to wear leggings and the same 2 dresses for months.

ETA - Won 3-1 !

Pleasures for today (Saturday)

1)Very good sleep.

2) Did nothing during the morning.

3) Lots of rain and the lawn is growing back very slightly.

4) Took smaller son to Sainsbury's cafe.

5) Waved to former colleague and did gestures about the excellent football yesterday.

6) Cleaned the floors and dusted.

7) Put the new washing line up and put the washing out.

8) Will phone my school friend just now.

Hello! Has been a nice day but gone a bit dull and grey and cool now.

For Friday…up early.

Dropped off stuff to accountant…hurrah ( though might not be saying that about it later 😆) a big mental tick to get it all done and handed in!

Then we headed straight to CP and we managed a slightly longer teeny weeny walk…to the bottom of the drive where I had found treasure the day before…blackberries! So Mr Dog was rewarded for his efforts in walking and had some berries and then we sauntered very slowly back.

I had a morning swim and I later on had a very lovely afternoon swim. Chatters in both swims. Sunny for both. DD2 and The Baby came to visit and SIL picked them both up later. Swim friend popped in with a gift for Baby and the place was a riot with all the stuff that accompanies The Baby!

Started painting my kitchen cupboard doors and got the bottom ones all done. And swept ( and I think this will be an ongoing task) the decking which was covered with teeny tiny leaves ( I back on to woodland)

And this morning we set off home at 6.30am…enjoyed a sunrise walk…deer in the distant fields.
Road nice and quiet at that time and in and shower and washing on and washing out and then walked round to DD2 where we headed out to the library for a baby group. Baby joined the library and I borrowed a couple of books. ( I usually use the library bus)

And then we walked up the very steep hill to my old school which was long since converted and had a very nice breakfast. Staff were so lovely. I just had some toast and sausages. Then we walked down the steep hill with me saying oooh that was the common room and that’s where my English class was etc.

And the sun was out and it was most pleasant. And home to mine and hello Dog. And an afternoon with a Baby, cuddles, nappy changes, read her library books, feeding, occasionally napping! With the back doors opened. And just chatting back and forth with DD2.

Had come home to a very nice gift from a family I had recently worked with…lovely flowers and chocolates and a beautiful photo frame. And a card with the most beautiful words written inside. I absolutely don’t expect gifts but it’s always lovely when you get one. It had been hidden at my back gate as I’ve been out when they’ve popped round!

And I’m just going to have a quiet evening, probably potter around and get myself ready. I’m working in the morning.

Morning all.

We are bit thin on the ground these days, aren't we? Come back, laptop friemds, ad let us know how you are doing. Hope everyone is ok and just busy, busy.

Quick pleasures:

1. Rain, glorious rain.
2. Our lawns are greening up nicely, never thought that'd happen so quickly. Everywhere up here is looking greener and fresher.
3. The moon has looked lovely this week when we have been able to see it through the cloud cover. Full moon on Friday night and a waning gibbous moon last night - thanks for the info, AI.
4. Flurry of concern on Friday night when the whole of our frontage was coned off and traffic lights put up some time between 11pm and 12.30am. No idea why, but they came and took them down again at 6.15am, told hubby they had made a mistake. Phew! Probably dug a big hole somewhere else with no cones or traffic lights, who knows.
5. Off to Northants today to meet up with brothers and SILs for a few days. After the continuous rain yesterday we will have sunshine for most of today at least, a lovely early autumnal nip in the air and a back to school feeling. Time to settle down a bit after all the fun and frolics of high summer. Lovely.

Morning all 😊

We had a lovely day at the beach hut on Friday with great views of the Clacton air show. Fantastic Red Arrows, a spitfire, a hurricane, the huge American Sally B and many more. It was our first air show and free on our beach and we even had the Red Arrows and the lit up night planes flying over our bungalow the day before 😊great day.

Last night we had Singo Bingo at the social club with a group of friends,good fun and lots of terrible singing 🎵🤣

Gorgeous moon last night, the photo is over our back garden a few nights ago.

No more tummy upsets for 11 days and test results have come back normal which is good but still none the wiser to what causes it 🤷‍♀️. I’ve cut out wine and most creamy/ saucy food except yogurt.

We’ve had some rain, one or two heavy showers but our grass is still brown, looks like they’ll be more rain this week.

A lazy day today, will cook a gammon and use the stock for soup and the meat for dinner later. The hot tub is on so hopefully will have a relax in it later.

We’re planning to go to a local village fete tomorrow which apparently is good and busy.
