5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Good morning. The weather has settled itself down over the last couple of days and we have had perfect English summer weather; sunny, warm but with a little hint of freshness. So back to pegging out washing again. Hooray.

The garden is edging towards autumnal but still very beautiful. I grew some zinnias from seed and they have made beautiful cut flowers. 4 or 5 in a vase with eucalyptus look very posh on our dining table.

A real MSE moment. A member of staff by the tills in Sainsbury's asked me if I'd like a football for 25p. Of course! I know a grandson who'd love that. And he did.

Been helping DGD with History course work. Not my subject but it means she sets aside a couple of hours to focus which doesn't seem to be a strong point. But she's a teenager. What do you expect 😂

Meeting DD for breakfast this morning. Not seen her for 3 weeks so lots to chat about.

For Sunday…it’s now turned out to be a nice late afternoon.

Up early. And down to CP about 6.30am. Roads nice and quiet. Saw 2 deer jump into the field as I drove up the main driveway…then they watched me watching them. We had a nice walk.

Was in the pool on my own today. Was still a tad cool.

Quiet morning, had started reading a book but realised I’d already read it…and life is too short to read that kind of book again!

Nice chat with DD1…looking forward to seeing her soon! Not sure I’ll get a look in with The Baby!

Had a wee snoozette and then headed back up the road about 3pm. We had a teeny tiny walk before we left.

Had brought home a couple of blankets to wash so they are having a blow in the breeze.

Did a bit more snipping in the garden. Garden bin this week and then I reckon I’ll be filling it straight back up!

Son in law moved the dog crate out of the living room last night so I need to hoover the rug where it was and then move it properly to where I want it.

And I have a teeny tiny bit of work to do for this weeks service.

At so very long last, mse has let & sign in again, so a quick try for 5 osps, when so many are long past.

1. Figs are still going mad and & is bunging them in every bit of likely empathetic booze, as well as handing them on, eating several freshly picked daily. VG for ladies' wellbeing.🥰
2. Fantastic ABs 33-16 win over the 'bokke yesterday. V. difficult away match and such a result unexpected! & had seen 18h start, but on p+r bus to The Alma, saw it was already halftime and us down, 13-12. Opinion of all was that they saw me arrive and thought 'Crikey! She's here! Best get going boys!' 😁🏉🖤
3. In last week's services and again today, we've very much had Jason Arday with us. Local links and knowledge.....🙏🫶.
4. Lovely Friday afternoon in CUBG with young Oxford Professors/Labour friends. Yes, they had a kilner of interesting figs too.😁
5. So grateful for being every sort of mobile, wheels and limbs.

A mess of pics to come…..oh, looks like they'll have to be tomorrow.

Pleasures for today (Sunday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Did very little during the morning.

3) Smaller son and I went to the most local National Trust and talked to the volunteer gardener for ages.

4) The man next door is still clearing his garage out and I had 2 cast iron garden bench "ends" and a lovely, 1960s blue sewing machine!

5) Tasty tray bake for tea.

6) 5 long weeks into the blood sugar diet and I'm finally flattening out a bit.

A lovely grilled bacon sandwich such is the Sunday tradition

We have a glut of tomatoes we’ve been gathering up, it’s the first time for us we’ve grown more than we get through.

Still hooked into the book, which reminds me I must get it in from the garden.

A mini powercut has had a weird affect on the camera lights.

A bit of a quieter day…

Up early.

Gathered and printed tax return stuff for accountant. A big mental tick! ✅

Walked round to DD2 , was baby sitting for an hour…had lovely cuddles and smiles!

And a walk home…short sleeved dress on…nice to have a nice day!

Jumped in car to go and get petrol and petrol station of choice had no petrol! Grrr!

Quick pop in to work place re a service later this week. And then went for petrol. And then spent a whole 99p in the supermarket on apples of which I’ve had two already. They either get eaten straight away or languish in the fruit bowl destined to be a crumble!

And I went and had a nap! Actually came up to bed and lay down. Woke up round about doggy teatime!

And just had a quiet evening.

Had brought some diaries in from the garage 2007-2010…life was so busy…three young kids, work, pets, a husband ( who was often away) various school committees, kids having sleepovers and parties, afterschool clubs etc was nice to read them. DD2 said I don’t know how you did it? Hmmm think I’m still doing it…just with less people!

Pleasures for today (Monday)

1)Not a bad sleep

2) Changed bed, did washing etc. Must put the sheets back on it just now.

3) Mowed the lawn (straw!)

4) Went to Sainsbury's cafe to play chess with smaller son. We play chess all over the place and no one ever comments. Today one bloke came over to talk about the game then another chap recognised me from chess club 3 years ago and invited us back again!

5) Mussels for tea.

6) My brother popped in.

The weather has been more like it less heat more just lovely, there have been lots of birds on the restocked feeders and a lot of butterflies. I pondered and sorted seeds out and generally tided things up that no one would notice. Weeded the patio tiles.

Cleaned a slatted door thing that was here when we moved in and is still here, 48 at the top, 48 at the bottom just dust gathering!

Grilled chicken, new pots. Broccoli put in a big yorkie for presentation.

Our oldie animals are sadly wobbling, I’m getting up through the night to feed them.

Hello.

Up early. And out early…DD2 and The Baby picked up me and Doggy and we went to CP. Then left dog to go to nearby garden centre to meet niece. Had breakfast. And I got some pansies…which is what I was after and that’s why I was meeting niece there. Nice to have a catch up.

Back to CP ( literally 5 minutes away) and I went for a swim. Then we came back home about 1pm. She got a snooze and I got baby snuggles.

Got a washing out this afternoon…was waiting on swim stuff before putting machine on. And it dried by teatime. Also got one pack of pansies planted.

They left. Dog and I sighed the sigh.

An evening of texting various people checking in and having to check I was replying to the right person 😆
