For yesterday

Last day at work til Tuesday which I kept reminding myself off.

Feel I helped a mum by referring her onwards as GP hadn’t done anything. Despite getting impression from boss I shouldn’t bother.

They had finished harvesting a field I walk through on my work home. I have walked close to a field being harvested and the dust in the air isn’t pleasant.

Had lovely meal out. Good service and restaurant was busy which is great.

Early night as it was needed.

Highdays - Thank you. It is such a delight that she is doing so well. So good that your grandson is doing so well too. The young ones are so resilient! And yes, I'm sure she'll enjoy life in York. Who wouldnt.😀 x

And an update from earlier. The council must have read my post. One man came today on a mini roadsweeper and another man had a Ghostbusters type backpack ( weedkiller?). Nobody cutting grass today😂

Pleasures for today (Friday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Went to the coffee morning.

3) Took smaller son to Morrisons for a cooked breakfast.

4) Cleaned the patio doors and kitchen window, then nearly had to lie down due to the heat!

5) Made a nice tray bake for tea.

And that was Friday…came round again way too quickly !

Up early as someone (not me ) was feeling sick at 4.30am so it was a mad dash downstairs with a not the carpet…not the rug…oh the rug!

Managed a bit of a doze on the sofa and no more sicks…cooked up some chicken that I had RTC in the freezer. And rice. Yum says he …I love chicken and rice! So we’ve had a quiet at home day.

My life has felt so busy so it is nice but strange to be at home all day!

Popped into town at 8.30am , got tyre pressure sorted and reset and kind chap guided me out back onto street, such nice chaps there. Usually you have to go round a loop round the back of garage but there was a car in front of me. They don’t charge to do my pressure.

And hurrah for 2 hours free parking, though I wasn’t that long. Popped down to M&S, got an RTC pizza for tea and had a £4 off voucher…thank you very much!

Popped into charity shops. Got a pink linen top and a 2 person dinner set. That I admired the other week , swithered and thought if it’s still there it’s meant to be! So I did 2 runs back and forth to the car with it. And nice lady had wrapped it all for me. It’s going to go to the caravan to live and is currently in the dishwasher…was waiting till after tea to put it on.

Then popped into other charity shop and got a tee shirt from joules for £2.00 ( their pricing is a bit off as they had primark tee shirts for £4! ) and a looks like new jumper in the £1 sale rail.

And home. Hello doggy. I was an hour!

So a bit of gardening. A bit of hanging out washing…once the rain stopped.first rain in weeks. Just ironed said washing! Had a snoozette.

Did a bit of work stuff. Printed out for next week. Took a work call and have another service booked in. So printed and prepped for that.

Friend was coming for tea so rattled through the empty fridge and found enough to make a salad and some wee potatoes I’d forgotten I had , so sliced them and popped them in the airfryer and had pizza.

Prepped a crumble…I had no sugar left…so friend was asked to bring that 😆 had the butter and the flour bit done and the fruit all ready for sugar! Rhubarb had been given to me by her the other week and had been chopped and in the freezer. There’s enough for another serve. And managed to get a spoonful each of ice cream as that’s all that was left 😆😆…a lovely dinner considering it was cobbled together 😆

And DD2 and The Baby were here for a couple of hours too. So we all had baby cuddles in between eating!

And a goodbye all …filled the dishwasher. Brought the sofa cushions in as we are forecast rain. And up to bed…hoping for a peaceful night.

For yesterday,

A treat of a day out with my bf, she picked me up at 9am and we headed off to Sandringham for the RHS garden show.

Got there just after 10, parked up and spent the first couple of hours checking out the floral display tent, long borders and caught a talk by the lovely Adam Frost.

Stopped for lunch, by this time it had got very hot and I was very glad that I had slapped on plenty of sun cream but we did manage to find a bit of shade for a cool drink & sandwich.

Onto the show gardens and the retail stands but have to say after another couple of hours in the heat we were both flagging so decided to call it a day. Neither of us brought a single plant but certainly got plenty of ideas for future plans.

Home, tired but happy. Cobbled together a picky tea and spent the evening on the sofa.

Lovely walk with a dog. Good temperature for it too as we went early

Good chat with owner when I dropped dog back.

Trains all working well - from this weekend for 6 weeks Charing Cross and Waterloo East are closed.

Met my sister in London as belated birthday present. We went to Frida Kahlo exhibition which was good. As she is member of the Tate we had very quick look at Tracey Enimin exhibition but we didn’t enjoy it.

Had good lunch and long chat.

Good journey home too.

2. Writing from Exning Summer Fête, where parking early under big tree means breezy shade, so already a good day and way more than 5 osps already.

3. Lucky 780 on the usual 'ending in 0 or 5' meant a marvellous box of 6 crystal glasses, which will be passed on as a prize again.😃

4.Last night, so glad I took rtc emporium sunflowers and Martin Johnson's 🏉 World 🏆 book to older friends who are declining gently, no longer driving, have already lost a daughter, worry desperately about middle-aged son needing mse. We ended with laughter, as always.🙏

5. .....as with another older friend, mid-80s, widowed, former CS colleague, who's too easily influenced, financially bludgeoned and put upon by ungrateful children etc She also looks after a neighbour under 50, who has allowed herself to be bed-bound for over 20 years! No reason for it and little dot of friend is getting her up and walking. & listens and we do end up with laughter and a tease about length of call. Last night, 46mins 17secs.😄

Happy safe weekends to all who read here. & has been messaging her friends in the Var and Algorfa re: their fire safety. M is in danger in the Var.....🙏

Then all the family and old schoolfriends in Aotearoa, where another series of earthquakes has struck. They are increasing in intensity and frequency.🙏

Up early and then went back to bed and ended up dozing off again and being woken by a very strange dream.

Wandered round to DD2 and then we came back round here about 1pm.

Parcel delivery! Hurrah! Was something for work and it had said it might not arrive till the 4th August.

Baby snuggles.

And a doggy who is back in his crate as he landed funny. Sigh!

SIL came round and we had takeaway for tea that they paid for.

We had rain this morning. Hurrah! So needed for the garden and then it brightened up again this evening.

Good morning. Sunny again. But yesterday when I went out in the evening to water the pots there was the very finest mist in the air, barely detectable. And this morning there is almost a puddle on the table top. But I think we'll still need to water the allotment today.

Reading a book by a new-to-me author, William Kent Krueger, and amazingly it's the first one in a series. I usually start somewhere in the middle! I'm enjoying it so far so now the charity shop hunt begins for the rest of the series.

Yesterday's pickings from the allotment will be today's ratatouille ( spell check thinks caterpillar!) and an apple crumble. DD's friend is an excellent gardener!

I'm back in steroids for my very wheezy asthma. I love hot weather but I think there's a bit too much pollen about for me. Plus the farmer in the field behind us has been cutting the wheat and sent up loads of dust. Perhaps I should move back to inner city Leeds!

For yesterday,

Bit of a lie-in followed by boiled egg & soldiers for breakfast.

My legs ached a bit after the day before, my bf messaged to say her whizzy watch said we had cloaked up over 18k steps!

With the Ashes venue details being announced plans are afoot for next year, bf is coming too.

The afternoon spent at the yard, warm but with a decent breeze so lots of jobs done. Girlie did some work then had a cooling sponge down with some lavender water, hopefully it will help with the amount of pesky flies around.

Loaded nachos for tea then watched KB’s Poirot in Death on the Nile, fab scenery & costumes so very enjoyable.
