it’s been a while - life has just got in the way
some for today

1 Had to work a Saturday and wasn’t too bad only saw patients which was good snd refused to do any other admin

2. DS1 and DIL came round for a meal which was good

3 saw a green woodpecker in the garden when having a drink before the meal

4 Enjoyed watching rugby - an England win against Argentina

5. Have been enjoying my book

For yesterday,

Trip to the farm shop for breakfast, once again I had eggs on toast with an extra sausage to share with a very well behaved Labrador who knows the drill by now and sits quietly under the table until Mum’s finished her meal.

A cooler day so Capt S started on the big annual hedge trim and I weeded the borders. A clematis that’s been struggling in its current position was triaged & moved.

Cool enough to make a loaf as well, it’s been a month!

Afternoon spent at the yard with my big girl, good catch up with other owners and laughter as the smallest resident, a mini Shetland, did his best escape act and run around saying hello to everyone.

Scared ourselves watching the first episode of The Dark. We mithered about staying up for the footie but did in the end and glad we did!

1. Hooray! How on earth did &'s main gate lock hide itself under front passenger footwell mat? Absolutely no idea. Have been hunting for it indoors for nearly a month!
2. Lovely, comfy All Blacks' victory v Ireland first thing yesterday, 40-21🖤🏉. Dave Rennie is putting right the mess made and left by Foster. Thence to The Alma where merlot, onion rings and water enabled sound refereeing of other matches😁 with 🏉friends.
3. More CUBG hours with book, provisions, always more to see and lovely staff, fountains and watersides and water fowl. Such a good place.
4. Open Studios weekend 3, but &"s first chance to visit anyone anywhere. So glad after Morning Prayer to get to Matthew Blakeley nearby. Source: Cambridge Open Studios https://share.google/Rrtv93ojUrm7CKlAc

A lovely olio win today, DH has been looking for free Chives for a while, and I was able to pick up a pot locally, along with baby sweet corn, mange tout, baby potatoes, a cabbage, and some custard doughnuts.

I put the chives in a trough of water, did a bit of garden tidying, wandered around with the watering can.

Ferret bedding washed and hung out.

Dinner is grilled chicken with the olio bits of veg and baby potatoes

Planted up the Chives, salad leaves to grow in pots.

A fairly lazy Sunday and a bacon sandwich for breakfast Sunday tradition.

I started going through the caravan, loading up cans, making our bedding up, working out what we still need to pick up.

Cooked up a pie in the oven and cooked up our first home grown courgette.

A few more things in the outgoing bag of clothes.

Spent quality time with Rhubarb playing and cuddling.

For yesterday

1. Sat and read in the garden which was relaxing.
   
2. Easy tea of salad including homemade coleslaw
   
3. went to Sissinghurst to look round and it was a great temperature for it
4. Did some gardening- a small patch looks good
5. DH only bought stakes at garden centre- he normally buys more.
6. Watched some of the football

Highdays

Morning all.

PaulieH - your bungalow looks lovely, so glad everything worked out right for you in the end. Bet you've forgotten all the trauma now!!

Shaping up to be a busy week here but there are pleasures:

1. Lovely concert yesterday afternoon. A bit cooler but sunny, fab brass band, good audience all enjoying a perfect summer afternoon.
2. Lawns are brown and crispy but the tubs - no hosepipe ban here yet - are flourishing, can't remember a year when they looked so good.
3. School holidays now so we get to spend some quaoity time with not-so-little-anymore-fella who is almost as tall as me now. When did that happen? Taking him out this afternoon, ice cream will feature.
4. Having a catch up with my bairn at lunchtime today, we are like ships that pass in the night currently as he is so busy work-wise and home-wise. Looking forward to a chat.
5. Will be chatting to my brother in half an hour to finalise plans for our upcoming weekend away. Fingers crossed the nice weather lasts another week.

Right, washing and other Monday chores await. What doesn't get done in the next half hour will have to wait so best get a move on.

For yesterday,

Despite a late night the evening before I was awake early so left sleeping beauty in bed and took C dog for a walk.

Breakfast then out in the garden, beloved carried on with the hedge while I sorted out border at back of the house, it faces south and gets baked for most of the day so not many plants cope but our rock rose and nepeta are hanging on & the lavender of course. Weeded other beds, tiny fennel plants are popping up all over!

Shower then lunch before having a snooze on sofa.

Evening walk around the fields, the crop is very golden but not very tall so think our farmer neighbour is hanging on for a bit, lots of the fields have already been harvested.

We did watch the final but what with Argentinian tactics plus the half time show it wasn’t the best of spectacles, at least karma came through and Spain won. Didn’t stay up for the presentation for obvious reasons!

Pleasures for yesterday (Sunday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Went to M and S for a cup of tea.

3) Went to an NGS open garden in the afternoon. I go every year and always chat to the lady about her son, who is the same age as bigger son and is also an outdoor instructor with a van!

4) Went to see bigger son and his fiancee on the way home. The 2020 tooth saga continues and he will have a scan and a hospital in Birmingham will have a look. Even the 2 teeth that weren't extracted have splintered roots.

5) Watched the World Cup final. Glad the cheaty, punchy team didn't win!

Apparently it looked like I was new around here and I’ve had to sign I ! It was only 2 days off MSE!

Saturday, walk and swim. Then home. Plans for day changed as DD2 not well and needed out of hours doc…which takes blooming hours ! Anyway in between being at hers and then needing to check on dog then going to see GP and then back here. It was all of a sudden 5pm. Then it was 7pm when SIL picked them up. So that was Saturday! Chat to friend on phone….whilst cleaning my bathroom! Hoovered downstairs.

Sunday. Up and out for 6.30am walk and swim. And a stay! Hurrah! Visited by them and my granddaughter brought me a cheesecake to celebrate OH’s birthday. Ten years since he last had one on earth. Tried to do a bit of work but wifi was rubbish so oh well I just read and snoozed and went for another swim. Ate my tea outside and took my book and went to bed early. Someone on the site was giving away a free travel cot so went to get that and the chap kindly carried it down. ( I would have managed but it was nice of him)

Monday. Me and myself went a walk at sunrise. I went a bit further than I normally would then thought absolutely no one knows I’m here so headed back. Saw a deer in the bottom field. Then did quick walk with doggy, went for my swim. Doggy walk on the way out. Then home.

Cut the grass…caught my feet in my long trousers and tripped up and fell on driveway as I was mowing! Oh this is going to hurt I thought as I went down …and a very nice chap said are you okay! I was! He’d obviously seen this woman hurtling through mid air !

Did a bit of work. Quick chat with sister and then with niece.

Then DD2 dropped off a baby.

Work friend called me.

SIL came here first and then DD2 and then he went to pick up a cot bed for me. A friend had offered it to me. And the bedding which hasn’t been used.

And I had a work call to make. Which was a lovely chat.

Remembered to bring my hose back from caravan and gave garden a big soak. Potted up a verbena I had bought the other week.

And it’s 6pm already! Just going to make some toast that will do for my tea.

Frith

Pleasures for today (Monday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Went to art. Couldn't get in to the actual art today, but everyone was very chatty.

3) Got home to find the front door smashed! The council had flicked up a stone whilst cutting the verge.

4) Spent the afternoon trying to get 3 quotations (the council will cover the cost). One man said he'll come over tomorrow and put some film over it to stop all the little pieces falling out of the frame.

5) Gone on a healthy eating drive so made a nice treat bake with veg and chicken for tea.

6) Watched Great British Sewing Bee.

7) Did odd jobs of cleaning and sorting.
