Then Nuli icecream - surely two of your five a day right there plus extra calcium? Vicar's grandson - excellent thesp mastering his lines already. Emporium refund or tills don't balance - very right of them.
mhagster - wonderful to hear grandmama duty then charity finds. Hospital appointment but car park space, & tea sounds delicious. Work will have a few devastated folk, very right to have a brief grouch! Ah, the joy of visitors leaving. Garden afternoon as yearned for. Walk without brace? Work then cuddles - then more work.
Frith - paperwork, victory/vulture - an unusual texture of pleasure but enjoyed. Chess at supermarket?
Purple kitten - oh Rhubarb, but wow DH sorting car! Bravo courgette! A rather lazy day sounds restorative. Stress cleaning oh dear but fingers crossed so hard for you all.
LaineyT - house put to rights in relative coolth, and gardening in pyjamas - And Why Not? Hadn't realised hosepipe ban could upset the yard, much relief to hear not. Every yard needs a wise woman. W1A has the amazing Jessica Hynes. Love the marigold to companion the tomatoes & oh my oregano but oops ping.

Weather to be “more comfortable” (as in under 30) - oh good. My beloved mum (80 something) really does not do well, lightly griddled, but is facing higher temperatures again.
Dear me, productivity this Monday will be minimal & they’ll have to bus the whole team to the palace for medals. Poor Brazil after such a run & at home…
“Hullo gimboid” - I have to infer this is brother communing with brother as I don’t think anyone rose rates that tone of not-quite-suppressed loathing whilst still on the call a minute later.

Lovely lady doing patchwork - one inch squares & beaming at its effects on bystanders like me. I go in awe of military convalescent patchwork - amazingly detailed, lots of tiny pieces & you can’t see where the sabre or bullet went through nor how much it took to wash, just how long it took to heal. She knew exactly where I was coming from!
Yoga - indeed Hot Yoga albeit at home. Gosh are we going to notice tomorrow! [Yep. Still, a few stretches & I can move. It’s too much isn’t an idea I’m very good at.]
Colleague eyeing hen night with dubious resignation - “I’m taking my pyjamas & a kindle”, yet I suspect she’ll be fending off would-be conversationalists with a stick.
Weaving museum volunteers chatting about butterflies & seems one saw a “purple hairstreak” which I thought was a hair style & is a small beautiful black butterfly!

Fond recollections of Cuisenaire rods from our chairman, who is cordially terrified of basic accounts but wholly competent driving a four shaft loom. As her auditor of some years, I can vouch her arithmetic is absolutely fine but she still comes over panicky faced with accounts.

West wing episode Ellie from father to daughter “the only thing you had to do to make me happy was come home at the end of the day” (aw big gooey puddle now teary snotty gooey puddle - the west wing is a fiction I go back to for comfort)
How do blokes keep their trous up when one has a bottle of Lucozade in a back pocket & he’s walking & it’s not falling or tilting?! Bewildered fascination here.
I seem to have arranged my life so I am griddled under a headset for hours, oops. So I used hairpins to hold my winter fleece across the window as a curtain.
Watching Youngest trying to herd a butterfly back out. In the end he opened yet another window & it got the hint & ducked gracefully out.
It is possible you are attaining riper years when you stand up & your knees ‘tic tic tic’ like the Predator acquiring a target.

Scouts have declared we will show the match as well as have the water fight. Solves some decisions!
I have a knee brace & am trying not to use it. (I’m not using logic in this heat.)
Watched two red admirals flitter up on a helical thermal by the stone wall - good to see them outdoors.

There was actual microscopic spitting in this morning's longer-than-recent grey start of day. Hosepipe ban now in force, but this won't have done anything.

1.Much younger friend, slim, busy, had unexpected hip replacement today and surgeon is already pleased.

2.Somehow find myself linking this to your ongoing care for Rhubarb, PK, and sending best wishes for his ease in the time you still have together.

3.Library book 'A French Inheritance'', picked for title obviously.😁 Yes, & will describe it as 'provençale chick-lit ' at best, but don't care.😁 It's 🇨🇵Bastille🇨🇵Day🇨🇵 and & knows well the small inland locaux.

4. Odd in current weather maybe, but sorted a slow cooker casserole late last night, using wonderful emporium Aberdeen Angus beef offcuts, £2!!! It's lush, with peppers, red onions, rtc fresh tomatoes, garlic, rtc carrots and ginger wine! Fear not! You won't be forced to eat any.😁

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Porridge for brunch.

3) I had cleaned the car out for smaller son's day out. This never happens so he was pleased.

4) Went to salt town and first went to the enormous garden centre. Looked round thd different bits then had a cup of tea.

5) Went into town and had chips by the canal.

6) Went into Waitrose for the air conditioning and did the prize crossword quickly.

7) Watched our team's pre season friendly. Won 0-2.

8) Managed to tune in the very rarely used car radio to hear the end of the France Spain match. Smaller son didn't know you could lose reception going under bridges.

Very gingerly starting my day as back felt tender, scrambled egg on toast helped.

Lovely Capt S watered my veg as lugging heavy watering cans around didn’t appeal.

Made a big pan of ratatouille as the courgettes show no sign of stopping.

At the yard and my clever girl walked slower when coming in so her old Mum could keep up and despite the siren call of her stable & hay net!

Reading in the garden then in to watch the footie.

Hello from a very hot here! We don’t often get too hot but today it was.

Up early. Another rubbishy sleep. So just glad to get up!

Watered plants and then walked round to get baby, then we walked back here and saw an incident with a rabbit and a cat. The rabbit shot across the road and then was caught by a cat! So I shhhhhhd at the cat and it let go of the rabbit , who ran then lay down extremely flat ( for a rabbit! ) then it ran off again and cat chased it so I don’t know what happened but me and this builder chap were just stood enthralled! Hope it got away.

And then about an hour later DD2 came round in the car as she can now drive again ( hurrah) and we loaded it up and off we went to the CP, via the garden centre for a cheese scone. Quick little doggy walk. And I had a swim but pool was full of kids as it’s school holidays here and it wasn’t as enjoyable as usual. Kept getting splashed and kept saying oh it’s okay! Note to self….be there early!!

And we were about another hour or so but could feel the heat building up so we came back here. DD2 got a nap and I was on hot potato baby duty!

Went to vets when she woke up to get meds for doggy. Been prescribed a BIG bottle of anti inflammatory meds which will last longer. And a quick nip into a very busy supermarket on way back as I was child and dog free! Got 2 x RTC 25p plants that just needed a big soak! A cala Lily and a passionflower.

Home and moved the crate out of the living room and across the patio and into the extension. Hurrah! If he needs to be in crate he can be through there ( all open plan) and if I’m just going out he can be in living room ( only room with a door)

There’s a large but juvenile gull out the front so left it some water. No signs of parents about.

Watered the plants in pots. ( many) My hose is down at CP so need to try and remember to bring it back tomorrow.

All my current work drafts have been okayed. So that’s also a hurrah. Just need to print…a job for another day…on a cooler morning as my office room is roasting!

Amazing Frith, DH is rather smitten by the “horns” on first far left fella.

Chopped up and measured out the animal food for another 10 days, and various animal areas cleaned.

I’m considering doing a mass clear out of stuff, as it feels like we move and store - I would like the space.

A little bit of gardening, tidying away bits, and planting up some salad seed bits and bobs. Looking at the tomatoes, it just doesn’t seem we are in the best area for it. The courgettes however are great.

Tonight’s grub straight to dinner as we weren’t hungry during the day. Dinner is homemade burgers, a few oven chips and onion rings to go with it.

Had a rather sad thought that we need to give Rhubarb his extra tennis balls, we have hundreds of them dotted around and he moves them about with vigour, we already have about 20 stashed away for Christmas presents for him…

For yesterday,

Capt S helped with the watering first thing, back is a bit better but still twingy iyswim.

Over to Uni city for haircut, the no dye is going well and my hair is now a light kind of ash blond, first time I’ve been blond in my life but do kinda like it.

Afternoon spent with my big girl, pole work and then some stretching for carrots, her not me 😂

Easy tea of hot dogs and hm coleslaw.

Several walks around the garden needed to manage stress levels during the footie, shame we couldn’t make the final.

1.Back down at thickly muddy river - duckling I Spy😃 - after midweek Communion became Morning Prayer with only 5 of us. Mix-up msgs responsible, but all still good. Lots of good chat, especially praise and admiration for Keir, from all local farmers, surprise as this might be to many.

2.Much duck+coot+tern bread fought over and greedily consumed before a great Sounds Green concert with the Basin Street Brawlers in CUBG last night. Notably prompt departures, almost as if peeps had another something to pay attention to.......🤔😁⚽

3. Perfect end of day up on the Gog Magogs. Young couple also there were having to change a tyre. & helped.

4.Lovely rtc savoury tartlets from Trumpington emporium. Merci millefois.

5. Finished the silly library book. Back it can go tomorrow. Will replacement bank card be in by then, at last? Small Grand Arcade walk to Bank - on verra.

Thursday already, how did that happen?!

So for the week so far

1. am setting myself 3 things to do each day at work and am accomplishing them wihch gives me a good feeling (rather than the perpetual panic of too many plates to spin)
2. conference on Tuesday was fab - 21 in person and 678 online! true mse style we whisked the left over lunch bags to the office fridge and we have been living on sandwiches since
3. tuesday evening dinner at the Apex - very nice - then colleague dropped me off at the pub for the last 20 minutes of the France game
4. and of course Wednesday well what can I say? watched it in my local with DrM (MrG refuses to watch England). Never realised there were so many Argentinians in Dundee 🤣
5. just played the piano for 90 minutes - absolute bliss🎹🎶

still no news on voluntary redundancy but we do have a new Principal starting mid October.
