Purchased a line in tonight’s lotto, as I’m feeling lucky.
We have still got a full complement of animals – just, we still have 2 poorlies, I’ve just had to order emergency convalescence to get here tomorrow, and DH is busy making a ferret food of chicken thigh meat, chicken hearts, and a couple of convalescence tins into a gunk and then into tubs.
The house is clean - if you visit in the next 5 minutes 😊, and I deep cleaned the bathroom, ready for me to do the grout reviver tomorrow, oh the glamour, and a couple of wash loads that were on the line, just got in
Listening and watching the woodpecker announcing it’s here and eating
I sat outside with a tea just listening really.
Still mulling if we have take out, or I make tea, as quite honestly, I’m redirecting to possible emergency vet funds if needed at the moment, which as I write it I know is the thing to do.

Yesterday I worked in the morning writing a service.
Then I broke a filling…which is the temporary filling holding my tooth together. Waaah! Dentist not till Tuesday.Went to caravan for an overnight stay. Just decided. Chucked stuff in a bag and a dog in the car and off we went.
we had a lovely walk which thankfully was dry as it lashed on and off. Deer in the woods behind me and a wandering pheasant.
A decent enough sleep by my shoddy standards. Up and out walking at 6am.Met swim friend when she was coming back her doggy walk ( I was putting stuff in the boot) and we stood and chatted for ages!
Did my caravan housework which really doesn’t take very long! But all hoovered, floors washed, bathroom clean and work stops wiped down.
Came home about lunchtime. And then friend called and picked me up for an unexpected pre birthday late lunch! I had sausage and mash as thought it would be easy to eat with half of my mouth out of commission!
Then DD2 came and dropped off The Pup for a few hours.

- Started my walk chatting to next door neighbour. He was going for a walk as working near home. We are lucky with most of our neighbours now.
- Neither boss at work so made day go more smoothly.
- Beautiful sunset as I left work.
- Had a drink at local pub and had some of their chilli nuts.
- Messages with DS2 and baby photos

I may have been researching and cherry-picking, learning about prepping for want of better words, properly to suit your own circumstances. It's nice to be learning.
Lid3ls sent a voucher down, and then compounded it with a second bakery voucher, which meant I could pick up a gi bread, but it had to be used today, now that’s marketing! So we went out picked up a free gi bread and shopping
Today’s grub is “snorkers” proper Cumberlands and potato dish we picked up
Started a great book

Evening all 😊
PK, I'm knee-deep in sensible prepping too. There seem to be lots of doomsday preppers on Youtube and I'm trying to ignore them, just be rational about being self-reliant for real-life challenges.
Five pleasures for recently:-
- Got an unexpected royalty payment for some publications from ages back. It's a not huge amount but any extra money is extremely helpful and a nice surprise.
- Have actually managed to organise all my food in my 'deep pantry' and now know what needs using up sooner rather than later, and have also been sorting out lots of non-food stuff too. I've still got the household cleaning things to go through - that's a project for the weekend.
- DS1 came to check some stuff at my new house with me and take some photos. It was useful having a second opinion about some things that need fixing.
- Cooked three extra portions of tonight's risotto for the freezer.
- Listened to a whole audio book from start to finish today while doing all my domestic stuff. Haven't done that in ages. It was a good listen.
Sweet dreams,
Bx

For the week,
Yes, another one here who is being mindful of keeping a full pantry so a few extra long-life bits added to Monday’s shop plus the mini is being kept topped up.
The beautiful grey one was moved to her summer paddock and came in with a food baby!
It’s been a lot colder this week and we are glad of the sofa blankets of an evening, especially as we have oil fired heating 🙈
Wednesday also brought high winds and girlie stayed in her stable for the day, I did pop to the big feed store for a bag of high fibre haylage to help her digestion and it’s sweeter than the standard hay while still being low sugar.
She has a new neighbour, a rather handsome chestnut whose just come out of racing, they said hello by touching noses.
Plans made to meet up with friends.
Despite the chilly temps the garden is marching along at a rate, the alliums are budded up and the forsythia is in bloom.
A birthday voucher was spent and some goodies arrived from the French sounding toiletries shop, along with a free gift of candles.
The cold has turned into an annoying cough so thank goodness for J lozenges.
Finally got my haircut after having to cancel last appointment.
Capt S has been busy but had Friday afternoon off, it was a chilly day so we made hot chocolate and had that with a slice of my tea loaf.

Good morning. Sunny and windy today but not as cold as last week when we had a couple of frosty mornings.
Recently.
Visited DS and family to take the Easter gifts for the DG children. They're going to America and we thought Easter eggs would be tricky to pack so got them some dollars instead. They were enthusiastically received!
Went out for a lovely Indian meal with DD, DSiL and DSiL's parents. His dad has been very ill but is now recovering. It was a treat to see him looking so well.
The plug plants I replanted into individual pots are galloping along in the greenhouse and I think every seed I've sown in there has sprung up.
And .....I've won a competition. One of those online where you just fill in your name and email address. It's 2 nights in a castle in the North East and passes for various attractions. So exciting. I'm positively giddy!
Happy weekend everyone

Me again.
Just a quick pop in while rhe roast potatoes finish off. A lovely sunny day today but the wind is back and it's pretty blustery out there.
Our weekend, with some - sort of - pleasures along the way:
The flue on our roof is broken and needs to be replaced. Also, completely independently, DIL heard a loud pop coming from the roof where the boiler is and the gas man who came to look at the flue said an urgent repair is needed, the pop was gas building up in the boiler and not igniting, and in the meantime the boiler is turned off. So no hot water for the whole house (we share their utilities) and no heating. Luckily they have a wood burning stove in the big house but we rely on our underfloor heating and tonight, now the sun has gone, it is pretty cold. Had to wash our hair in the kitchen sink this morning with kettles of hot water. I can't believe I was born and spent some of my childhood years in a house with only a cold water tap in the kitchen, no bathroom and an outside toilet referred to as 'down the yard'.
Nowadays though, it is a necessity not a luxury that we are toasty warm and have plentiful hot water…til we haven't!
Luckily our future grandson in law is a plumber and currently doing a gas course so was able to get hold of his tutor, a qualified gas man, who came out yesterday and will come back tomorrow after work with all the parts we need to sort the problem. We only had the boiler serviced a couple of months ago but the flue and whatever has gone wrong is not covered by the service plan. Fingers crossed we get sorted tomorrow and the clocks have changed so he will be able to see what he is doing!
Eldest grandson's girlfriend was the first to defect, she had been staying for the weekend but skipped off back home this morning! If we are not sorted tomorrow night I might be next and may beg a stopover at my brother's house til it's sorted. I'm not a hardy soul and never was a girl guide! Fortunately we are out all day tomorrow, hubby at the hygienist and me being dropped off on the way for a warm shopping trip.
Having a nice warming roast dinner and will snuggle under some throws to watch a bit of telly afterwards. Spent the afternoon sorting another trip away over the Spring Bank Holiday and finalising some other plans and booking theatre tickets so not a totally miserable time!
Off to finish the dinner off, hope you are warm wherever you are and that hot water comes out of your taps. Think of us if you have a lovely hot shower or bath tonight. Hard to believe we are at the end of the last weekend in March, April next week.
