5) Making toad in the hole now.

Pleasures for today
1. A lie in - along with little dog who loves to sleep.
2. A nice dry day and lovely day walk.
3. Shopping done, washing done, kitchen cleaned - feel like I accomplished something.
4. A mini magnum after dinner
5. Nice evening just chilling.7 -
For yesterday,
Farm shop for breakfast, they always put two large snorkers in a bap so I cut one in half to take back for C dog, the section that allows dogs can be cold in winter otherwise she could have come with us.
Made a loaf, changed the bed and did some pottering in the garden.
Spent the afternoon with my big girl, she had been in another paddock which has more grass so looked very pleased with herself when she come in!
The evenings are definitely stretching out a tad, especially on a sunnier afternoon. Leaning on girlie’s back door looking out over the fields and dreaming of summer.
United won away from and are in a playoff spot, my mate who does the local radio commentary had taken a walk on the beach before the match at Fleetwood.5 -
Sorry ,missed yesterday ,not much happened
getting to grips with courtesy car !6 -
Morning all.
Nothing very exciting happening here, just steady away. Lovely.
Some pleasures:
1) At the stage of feeling better so do more, then wiped out the next day. One step forwards and all that. But at least there now are some feeling better days.
2) Trip to the theatre as tickets had been booked for ages. Wasn't totally up to it but enjoyed all the same having cancelled cinema trip earlier in the week due to coughing issues.
3) Appointment for head scan came through for early Feb. Still trying to do smell therapy but very hard with a bunged up nose.
4) Lovely roses from DIL.
5) Middle grandson has got his applications in for Uni and two conditional acceptances already. In September we could have two grandsons at Uni and one starting senior school. Oh, but they were beautiful babies!
Bit more poodling and pottering today, currently watching hubby doing the ironing. Oh, the excitement!
Have a good Sunday.

Good afternoon. Very wet here. So much so that we played the ' weather permitting ' card and didn't go to DGS football this morning. I've always said we are fair weather supporters and it definitely wasn't fair weather.
Recently
Just ticking over really, but that's a good thing.
Doing some January sorting and seeing some spaces appearing. I threw out all my nail varnishes, etc. I've recently started to go regularly for manicures and love the way my nails look. Not very MSE, I know, but I'm worth it
I keep looking at the garden but it's just too wet to do anything. I think my lovely cyclamen have just given up and are now a soggy mess.. Ah well. Another couple of weeks and things should be looking up.
Finished the latest Louise Penny. Oh my word. Scary. Since then I've read another Elly Griffiths. The second 'Ruth' one. Somehow I never read series in order, but thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. And now reading an Ann Cleeves one with a new detective ( to me) set in Northumbria. So three favourite authors, one after the other. What a treat!
Enjoying Patience on tv. Partly because we enjoy seeing favourite parts of York. But also because it's gentle and undemanding.
Proper rainy winter tea. Steak pie and veg followed by apple crumble and custard.
Happy wet day everyone6 -
last day teaching in emirates, flying home tomorrow. pleasures for today
1) the weather this morning was delicious - reminded me of a September day, the freshness that tells you it's time for school to return
2) the students were lovely but 3 days 8:30 - 5 is tough so was glad our host agreed that today we should finish at 3 - I edited my talks / activities accordingly and none of the students felt cheated
3) the pool - by 4 we were lounging by the pool with smoothies and our books then a swim
4) interesting people - after the swim we had planned a sauna but it was already occupied. 'come in come in' a voice called from within which is how we had a very pleasant sauna with 2 lovely south african poets here for the african week
5) an early night - we've suppered, packed and now i'm enjoying listening to Julie Enfield investigates.
We leave for the airport at 10:30 so plan one more swim before the long journey back to blighty. The winter clothes are at the ready20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5005 -
Up very early and decided to embrace the day and get on with it!Wrote a list of chores and got them all done! Then went down to CP and met DD2 and The Fiancé there. It was the most beautiful morning. The deer were in the top field , watching us watching them in the sunlight and they decided to move through to the next field…so white bobtails were a bobbing as they went through. Just a lovely morning walk. Admired the swathes of snowdrops.
Home.A bit more pottering around and enjoyed a bacon sandwich. Caught up on some watching.Remade bed…had put bedding outside for a few hours, wasn’t quite dry so finished it off on the radiators.Chat to friend on phone.DD1 is in Paris! Almost at the end of her European adventure.7 -
A better day after a very slow start ,just couldn’t get going despite a good (for me ) nights sleep
bit of pottering
cooked a bargain piece of lamb which was lovely, lots left so another roast tomorrow
I definitely do better when eating properly rather than just grazing .
Drove the courtesy car in the dark to little local theatre to see the first of this seasons local history lectures ,
both v good but bittersweet .My DH teally enjoyed them to so we both went for years and used to discuss them a lot afterwards ,but ,of course ,now there’s nothing .
In bed now ,tomorrow is another day
Sta safe all
good night8 -
For yesterday,
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Morning walk around the fields, we saw a good few patches of snowdrops and lovely to see the leaf buds on the beech trees. We are only half way through winter but good to think that Spring is waiting in the wings.
Enjoyed the News Quiz.
I had popped some beef to braise in the slow cooker so we had that with mash & veg, including the last of the festive red cabbage. C dog had a taste of the meat too.
We rather binged on the latest series of Trigger Point.
