5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3
Comments
-
1) waking up before the alarm and just lying there enjoying the peace
2) the walk to church - all very quiet (and of course no buses)
3) lovely service - we were a choir of 5 (last night was our last official service of the year and we had 20)
4) mum came to the service and, since DD2 is up with the car and mum is still on the insurance, I got a lift to the pub. a very pleasant drink or two with DrM
5) yummy christmas dinner and present opening (we waited till DD2 had finished her shift at 4) and now I am going to have a snoozette20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5006 -
Pleasures for today (Christmas Day)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son liked his stocking.
3) All components of the dinner were nice.
4) Had a quick tidy.
5) My school friend came round and has just left.6 -
Good morning. Beautiful sunrise here. Most vivid orange and red.
Yesterday - lots!
Lovely gifts and even better, gifts happily received, even the ones I dithered about and DH queried. As always the ones that were hand made or cost next to nothing went down best. I must learn from that!
Lovely people
DD and DSiL here mid morning for bacon sandwiches
Next door neighbour's for pre lunch drinks and lots of chat
Back home for a snooze
Then to DS house for all the chaos of a three-child family Christmas
Home by 7, exhausted, but well aware of how lucky we are.
But more gentle today
DD and DSiL here for lunch before they whizz off to Gatwick. Lunch is buffet style ( our house and table aren't big enough to allow for anything else!). It's all ready apart from the jacket potatoes so not too stressful at all.
And then, breathe!
I've already decided my mantra for next Christmas is 'Simplify'. But it probably won't happen😂
Happy Boxing Day everyone x

As seen en route earlier.

1. Writing now from Town of Horse High Street after visiting elderly friend in Kirklington. V. glad I took some little bits and pieces, including emporium's 0% mulled punch. We drank a whole bottle warmed. It's very good.😋 Left her 2 more.
2. Connected with a particular young person after alternative Ely service yesterday morning. Another goodie bag left+ another 'v.glad to have done so.'🙏🤞
3. Luscious lunch with friend's family and another abracadabra Christmas bag mined with laughter and pleasure, DG, including the marvellous Nexus chrimbo double jumper!.....oh, and most excellent games of demon Scrabble,😁👍😁, such a sweet little variant, NOT! Loved it,😆🤩🙂↔️.
4. King Charles' speech.💓🌟🫶
5. Each recent day's blue skies despite chilliness, plus hot water bottles and 2 days with heating left on - &'s treat to self.

Blessings as needed to all reading here.🤲🤗
Another pleasure was a huge phone call from oldest Northern hemisphere friend in Collobrières. It actually worked! and was able to pass mob. to friend, so they could chat. All went perfectly!🫶🤗🤲👍🌟CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Up early.
We were at the beach just after sunrise and it was beautiful. Tide was so far out. Island was so clearly visible. It was -3o…our Australian guests couldn’t believe the cold water swimmers!!Home.DD2 and The Chap came over and he cooked late lunch.
My dog boy has done too much today and back legs are a bit weak so we’ve come to bed. See how he is tomorrow.6 -
We went out for a small travel and walk, as we had reports of a stray ferret, we spoke to people who had seen it and there was food and water down for it. We are hoping it's safe and well it was nice to get fresh air.We had the same dinner tonight as yesterday, re roasted roasties, parsnips and sprouts, while I microwaved the Turkey in the gravy.Wagtails in the garden, colour me very happy.I'm currently steaming a Christmas pudding that we've had for 8 years, DH wanted brandy butter, so I've made a little.7

3) the children have made the gingerbread train
4) the dog enjoyed his walk

For the last couple of days,
Waking up early on Christmas morning and being grateful for the lovely man lying beside me, our 13th Christmas together.
Visit to see the beautiful grey one, the horses were all having a duvet day and she was tucked up warm with a big pile of hay. She had a festive breakfast of carrots, parsnips and apple which were all relished and enjoyed.
Just us two for lunch but did all the trimmings as always plus dug out a very dusty bottle of champagne that had sat on the top of the dresser for quite a few years!.
C dog’s first Christmas with us and to start with she was a bit bemused over the opening of presents but soon got the hang of it when she smelt the treats inside, bittersweet memories of small dog who was an old hand at it and would ‘help’ her humans open theirs as well.
Its a tradition that my beloved gets me the LL almanac every year and pleased to see a guide to the night sky in this years version.
BD morning spent at the yard, walked and grazed my girlie in hand then sorted her shavings bed out to my satisfaction, might need to change things up a tad in the new year.
Home and a long walk with Capt S and C dog, sunny and cold, perfect.
Lazy afternoon on the sofa, dozing and listening to the United commentary on the radio.
We are enjoying the festive Uni Challenges and Only Connects.
A clear, starry night so checking out the constellations, almanac in hand.6 -
Morning all.
Quickly popping in, hoping everyone enjoyed the last couple of days.
We had a lovely time with melded families all getting on well together, all ages from 11 months through to 93 years enjoying the festivities together.
Recent pleasures:
1) Thoroughtly enjoyed handing over the reins this year and 'helping' rather than 'doing'.
2) Son and DIL hosted all 14 of us perfectly, all went very smoothly.
3) My house was ransacked by them - I currently have no dining table or chairs, very few plates and dishes, hardly any cutlery or glasses. Good job we didn't declutter too thoroughly when we moved here and they are only next door! Happy to oblige.
4) Very happy to 'feel my age' last night as eldest two grandsons went off into town with their pals at 11pm (!) last night, about the time I was ready to pop back home and climb into a comfy bed. Seems a cold and frosty winter's night is not a deterrent, they didn't 'wrap up warm' either! Little fella played dominoes and games with us and took himself off to bed just before midnight and so did we.
5) Made a lovely new friend in DIL's uncle's wife. We hadn't met before but clicked instantly and she suggested we meet in the New Year for lunch and to carry on chatting. Lots in common and many common iinterests so that will be fun.
A quiet couple of days now before heading down to Wiltshire on NY Day for a couple of nights to celebrate brother's birthday on 2nd Jan, then hubby and I are off to Oxford for two nights, our Christmas pressie to each other being very extravagant tickets for Miss Saigon. A lovely start to a new year, but thoughts as always with those who find this time of year bleak and hard. I've been there and truly count my blessings every single day.
Hope you have a good day, whatever you are up to.

1. Blatantly using Town of Horse MrT signal, after back-to-normal purchase of usual basic oranges.
2. Awake at 0300h, so brought cappuccino back to bed, combined with consuming a chrimbo gift box of Lily O'Brien chocs. There might be single figures left.....😋🤗🥴
3. Further combined listening to Test Match victory while finishing a large afghan blanket/throw, over 2 years in the making. Ends all darned in over several days, now onto 8 endless framework dc edging rows, then a picot of sorts. Will be for & son when done.
4. Some lovely festive messages and much thinking about F and N.
5. Ooooh, a dozen cream-filled emporium chocolate puffs were reduced in perfect time for & to rush them back to Nexus just as they closed. They were rather pleased, 🤗🫶💓😁😋.
And that festive mulled wine is now half price, so only £1 la bouteille.....! Some reserves effected.😊

Again grateful for being warm, self-sufficient and having hot water bottle habits.
Time to leave, as I Come From A Land Down Under plays over MrT's system, for which & awards MAJOR bonus points. Love it still.
PS to Dd - that chrimbo jumper, another Nexus 10p joy, is one vast garment for 2 peeps 😁, just one armhole each person, but 2 head holes.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
