Morning all 😊
Big news is that we finally exchanged yesterday, so we are all set for the 5th January 👏. Still not without a final hitch , solicitor had forgotten to do the amended contract with the new ( slightly lower price, agreed weeks ago) so he brought it round for me to sign 🤷♀️
Last shopping trip to Aldi yesterday morning, before 9, and it wasn’t too busy.
Lazy day watching tv ( nothing much on and we ended up watching old Christmas 🎄 episodes of Del Boy!). Cold meat, mash and pickles for dinner, usually a favourite, but I had picked too much during the afternoon whilst watching tv.
Just the 2 of us today, presents 🎁 to wrap, our traditional sausage, mash and onion gravy for dinner and we’ll watch our usual Christmas Eve film, a very old version of A Christmas Carol.
Full Christmas dinner at home tomorrow , son usually turns up for it!Then fun, family day with presents, laughter and lots of food and drinks at my niece’s on Boxing Day.
Wishing everyone a happy Christmas and thinking of those who have to work and the sad or lonely 🥰4 -
Good morning. Sunny. Hooray
Paulie - what a relief! So happy you don't have to worry about it over Christmas
All systems go here. What isn't bought and wrapped can stay unbought, unwrapped. Ham in slow cooker, dessert to finish off. Very little left to do now.
How is it that you can bake something, e.g. shortbread, hundreds of times perfectly but when you decide to bake some as a Christmas gift, it goes wrong? I think my oven was sulking because I so rarely use it now. It took far too long to cook so it's now more biscuit than shortbread. Hopefully DD and SiL will enjoy it anyway. It still tastes fine😂
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Thinking of all those who find it a difficult time, and hoping there is some joy to be found xx6 -
Up early…but the jet lagged we’re up earlier so they dealt with dog.Into town early as we all had the dentist at 9am.
Quick nip into M&S then to favourite town coffee shop. And holy moly at the supermarket carpark but I got some lovely RTC flowers…and a chap let me know when it was clear to reverse out the space!Home and sat for a wee 10 minutes before getting all busied again. Had a houseful coming over. Iced a cake, made sausage rolls, prepped everything, set table. And then everyone all arrived! A lot of noise and chatter and so much laughter!Brought some very kind gifts which was lovely. And sigh when they all went away!Just sat quietly for a wee while and I’ve just filled the stockings!4 -
Pleasures for today (Christmas Eve)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to my sister's at 1 and saw bigger son and his fiancee, my brother etc. Held the new baby for a while. Smaller son was very courageous and touched his head.
3) Popped to Sainsbury's for a few bits.
4) Bigger son remembered they don't have a dining table so he came over to borrow our table from the garage. He took the stocking fillers with him.
5) Watched the Great British Sewing Be and Gone Fishing.
6) Venison for tea.
Merry Christmas!5 -
No joy on RTC’s for the past couple of days, on the plus side maybe it means there is less waste going on also.
I got the house roughly up to date, while dh prepped the vegetables and cooked up the piggies in blankets. It’s fun listening to him in the kitchen, is the oven on, etc..
I’m trying to make it festive with different bits and pieces to eat, we had a bacon butty toasted up for lunch, which DH was very happy with.
Wrapped DH’s present’s I haven’t gone overboard this year, feeling worried about that, the ferrets helped me wrap each one.
Birds so many birds, woodpeckers, long-tailed etc all done, I’ve had to re stock all the feeders and we’ve plenty of bird food.
Crunch the stray is in with all the others now, and spent last night curled up and my feet in bed.
Bedding for both us and the animals, all clean and wash loads done. DH’s heated blanket packed up, when I asked him how old it was, it’s over 30 years, we have another somewhere, we just need to find it at the moment it’s a rough location which will have to be found after this cuppa, ah it’s been found and fitted.
Merry Christmas

what a fabulous Christmas present @PaulieHerts. 5 pleasures for today
1) the phone - had long chat with my dad and have arranged a visit next spring
2) the fresh air - lovely walk to Lochee through the park - DD2 then drove over as was her lunch break and she wanted to check out Lochee MrL
3) finding a gingerbread train in MrL
4) stockings - all crammed full of little treats (and presents wrapped and under the tree)
5) midnight mass - full church, lovely music. DD2 kindly dropped me off for practice at 9:30 then came with DS and DS's gf which meant I got a lift home too.
5 stockings delivered. Need to be back for choir rehearsal at 9:30 so i'd best get some shut-eye - no lift tomorrow cos DD2 is working.

Merry Christmas everyone. We still haven't decided if we will be celebrating the 25th or on Sunday. Weatherman here lied about the weather.7

For yesterday, Christmas Eve
Cooking in my little kitchen, radio on and singing along to the festive songs. Made red cabbage, sausage rolls and some rye & treacle bread.
Sunny day but boy was the wind bitter, we had a walk around the field with C dog and I was very glad of my hat.
Soup for lunch to warm up.
Over to see my big girl, fetched her in and washed off her legs. Then snuggled her up in warmest stable rug. Chat with other owners.
Home, easy picky bit type of tea and we watched Love Actually before enjoying the Gone Fishing special then scaring ourselves just before bed by watching the Room in the Tower.
Merry Christmas 🎄 to all that read and post here, may your days be at least merry & bright.8 -
I’m having a wee rest! They’re all playing a game and I don’t really like games! So I’m upstairs and I’ll watch Strictly!Gorgeous walk this morning.
And much cooking and making then eating…they all had an afternoon nap!Lovely thoughtful gifts.A chat to son.6
