Hello. For Friday…up early.Picked up something for free on marketplace.
Then straight down town . Parked at supermarket and walked downhill whilst chatting to friend on phone.Just got to bank as it was opening and banked my work cheque. And also a poo bag of £2 coins I’ve been saving up all year.
Quick nip round shops. Quick chat to DD1 who’s flight was delayed and they didn’t know if they’d manage connecting flight…there was now only going to be 30 minutes to get off one and on another! And this morning I had to assume she was on it as she wouldn’t have had any time to let me know! They’ve landed in Heathrow! Hurrah.Popped into see our old neighbours with their card…my very last one to deliver. Had a nice catch up. They were our most favourite neighbours ever.
And home! It was so wild and windy. And for today. Up early.
Supermarket very early. Can I have a till open please!Home and washed out the fridge before filling it.Went out for lunch with DD2 which was nice. I had pate and then a burger. Would usually have the lasagna there which is delicious but they had a festive menu. Then we went to look at some show houses…which are of course very nice! And saw a fox cross the field. This is up where we used to walk in the early morning a few years ago and I’d quite often see a fox or two early morning so it was nice to know they’re still there.Sun came out for a while this afternoon…blooming cold wind but nice to see a blue sky. Will be Strictly final for me tonight and won’t need tea as I had a big lunch.7 -
I’m still inn there! More soon!Admiral_Barbarossa said:PM2MHags. If you put the sprouts on now, they’ll be done by Xmas!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!6 -
goodness I haven't played crazy golf for years dfv bloomin' dog needed a wee at 3am and I could not get back to sleep for a couple of hours. then woke at 7 and thought what the heck i'll get up which meant
1) early saturday bath and trotted down to the butcher's - 3 steak rounds, 3 pounds of port sausages and some rather nice looking pork, cranberry and apple stuffing. As an Englander living in Scottieland I do not think anyone does such a fab steak pie as the scottish butchers and getting in early meant there were plenty so that's pleasure 1
2) went to the library to work on my keynote - mse pleasure #2 is our public libraries - long may they prosper
3) then hair cut - had a lovely chat with the young lady next to me - she's in another School at the Uni and loves her job as do I so pleasure #3 is indeed having a job I love (just as well as at 1:30 did an invited online talk on AI to 150 medical students in India) i took some incense packs from Thailand for the hairdressers and they lit one - it smelled super
4) mse pleasure #4 is being able to have an afternoon nap - bliss
5) have also managed through the day to clean the house, get my washing dry, beds remade, bathrooms polished - mse pleasure #5 is having a clean and tidy house.
now watching the 1962/3 big freeze - mum was pregnant with me in a house with no electricity and an outside loo - the bag door froze and she had to go out the front door and round to the back lane to get into the back garden.20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5007 -
1. Huge catch-up read now caught up😁, thanks to happy parking for signal.
2. Bitterly cold day, but Doblo warmed & well en route to support our 3rd XV. Saffron Walden Rugby Club is not at Saffron Walden, but quite some miles further along tricky roads past NT Audley End, then near Bishops Stortford. Oh yes, 20-3 in our favour!🏉😁👍
3. Love my hot water bottles.
4. Another pair of the knitty slippers finished in time for Christmas. Darning in ends etc. will probably take as long.😁
5. Lugging lots back to &squat late on Thursday, paused to rejig bags. Picked up a chucked down crisp pkt, only to see it was a £10 note! Or so & thought. Yesterday saw it's £20!
6. Picked and ate last 6 raspberries on way out today.😋

Morning all 😊
Old style pleasures 1-5: finally had confirmation that building control are satisfied with the building work (from 2020)! So house sale can go ahead 👏. Completion date is 5th January so we will finally move into our rental bungalow at the coast then. We can then restart the search for somewhere permanent to buy and hope we have more luck this time.
Unpacked some Christmas decorations and ordered the food for Christmas, so can relax a bit and enjoy the festivities. Invited friend for dinner today for pre Christmas meal and I got a very large joint of pork!I’ve rearranged the packing boxes so it looks better but we have no dining table or chairs 🤣
Watched Strictly last night, couldn’t decide between the three of them, enjoyed all the dances but not all the gushing.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone and in case I don’t post again before the big day, enjoy Christmas 🎄 whatever you are doing 🥰🥂7 -
Hello. Just climbed into bed . It’s been a busy day.Up early.Made a pavlova first thing. Then went out to CP and had a nice walk. Cold but dry.Home mid morning, popped into supermarket for crusty bread and replacement chocolate biscuits for niece as the dog had eaten them a few weeks ago!
Went out a walk by myself! Popped round to friend but they were out so made arrangements later to go round on Tuesday. Anyway it was nice to have a walk without stopping every few seconds to sniff something 😆 ( although that’s more a doggy thing than a me thing!)
Chat to friend on phone.
DD2 and The Chap ( and a very smelly Pup who had been near something smelly) came over first. He cooked a very nice bolognese and I had sausages and potatoes roasting. And I decorated the pavlova.
Then the Niecelys arrived and we had a lovely couple of hours chatting and much laughter. Which was good. They left and we all got ready to go out.
Went into town to christingle service at church which was lovely and was just what I needed. I kind of struggle a bit emotionally at this time of year. Nice to sing carols and light our candles. And a few hellos as we left which was nice too.And then just coming home and all was quiet after a busy afternoon was nice too!6 -
that is wonderful news @PaulieHerts
oo £20 well done @ampersand
#1 is singing and boy did I sing today! 9:30 rehearsal 10:30 service 12 noon rehearsal 2pm concert 3pm rehearsal 5pm cathedral carols!
#2 is again the wonderful RSNO - the concert was the RSNO Dundee Choral Academy and the RSNO brass ensemble - 500 in the audience!
#3 my students - 3 of them came to the candlelit carol service
#4 my children - 2 have arrived safely for Christmas (the eldest will be spending Christmas with her partner's family)
#5 the fun of party games - after the carol service the choir had a party - we played pass the parcel and hymn tune bingo and had a lot of laughs

Happy winter solstice
Hosting is all done.
For the first time in a very long time we have run out of labels, we are running out of wrapping and had just enough cards.
Today has been a bit of a rest, watching originals, it’s a wonderful life – oh Clarance, and the 1951 Scrooge.
I marzipaned the Christmas cake, admittedly a rather thin layer as I’m not a fan.
I made a dinner I’ve been wanting for ages, a big yorkie pud, and in it I put piggies in blankets, mini roasties, sprouts and mixed veggies with gravy a lot of gravy, and it was marvellous.
