I must have fallen asleep early!
For Friday.
up early.
finished writing the service I was working on and then sent it off.
Popped into work place very briefly.
Then straight down to CP for a lovely walk.Home briefly turn out for ouchy ouch massage. And home. Chats with sister and friend. And my lodgers have left! Sang a song about it to the dog as I locked the door behind me 😆😆6 -
Good morning. Too dark to see the weather yet. Yesterday was rain. Again! Think they didnt dare leave the hosepipe ban on any longer. Don't feel the need to rush out and water the garden though.
Highdays - I'm with you on Away in a Manger sung by infants. And Salvation Army bands playing carols at railway stations. In bits every time!
D Doll - love hearing your Thai tales. A place I'd love to return to, but cherish the memories of beautiful places and charming people
So..recently
Annual wreath making event with DD, suspended last year as she was on honeymoon. We were both a bit fumbly at first but a glass of prosecco later things ran more smoothly and wreaths are finished and installed.
Christmas planning coming along nicely. Slight contretemps yesterday with DH who has shown little interest so far, despite being consulted at every stage. He thought it might be better if....... I said I was very happy to hand over the reins to him. We're friends again now!
Lovely trip to Leeds with DD. Haven't lived there for 60 years but it's still like coming home. Shopping, prosecco ( do you see a pattern when DD and I get together?) and a Thai tapas lunch. A great day.
Picked DGD up after she'd had her nails done. I'm still so pleased every time she does a 'normal' 17 year old girl thing but have to be careful not to make a fuss!
So,onwards and upwards. Going to make a toffee tart today to freeze for Boxing day. But we'll have to try a sample slice each. Don't want to poison anyone on the day.
Happy weekend everyone

This is my 2nd trip happycas and I can see why people fall in love with the place and the people
1) judging all day (and i mean all day!) so the pleasure is seeing the enthusiasm of all those students and early researchers presenting their papers (12) and posters (18)
2) the green ice-cream at lunch time - what's not to love!
3) watching bangkok life from our minibus - took us 30 minutes to drive 'home' google maps says 22 minutes walking
4) news had come through last night bangkok time that our Thai phd student had passed her minor corrections hooray so, although not official, we let her know - she was thrilled (and quite right too!)
5) we treated her to dinner at the hotel bar while the lovely pianist played on
tomorrow i am doing a 3 hour workshop (no peace for the wicked!) so have ironed my dress, packed my case and now listening to bowie. alarm set for 7, minibus picks us up at 8:1520*25 for 2025: 489 / 5005 -
A productive morning! Woke early so just got up and showered and dressed and downstairs writing a list of chores by 5.45 am! And by 8.30am whole house was hoovered. All the bathrooms cleaned. Floors washed. Fourth load of washing was on! Logs had been replenished. Front step had been swept! I was on a roll 😆
DD2 came over and we took dogs a walk…dry at that point! I even had my bedding outside on the line at that point as it was so breezy and thankfully got it in before the dreadful rain started!
We went to supermarket and met three sets of people we chatted to. As well as the ‘would you like to come through self service?’ No, I wouldn’t! Oh okay we’ll get someone to jump on a till! Okay you do that thank you! And the two people in front of me said we have just said the same thing! I don’t mind scanning a few things in a basket…but I do mind a trolley full!Wrapped my Christmas presents. Which I enjoy doing. Need to get some stocking fillers but the main things are done. And I was expecting guests to come a wee bit earlier than they did. But had a very pleasant evening with two of my favourites! And lovely news and accompanying photos from a friend which was nice!Nice to have my house back to myself! I feel more in control now everything is where it should be….and I have nice clean sheets on too! That smell of fresh air!And I’m going to attempt to watch Strictly but will probably fall asleep!6 -
Slept well but woke at 5:30am, read a bit, had a couple of cups of tea, pottered, packed and checked out
1) conference - 3 hour workshop - 5 groups, mix of students and faculty, good fun but I am zonked!
2) lunch and a lounge in the VIP lounge then a cup of tea and a scone in their canteen which is very posh
3) while waiting to board at Bangkok DD2 phoned - she's engaged

4) very quick flight to Khon Kaen yet still managed to eat a hot meal (preordered) - only 2 / 5 chilli rating but hot enough for me! as flight was delayed and I'd had such an early start I was pleased we did have the meal because it allowed us to say we didn't need to go out for a meal tonight which means
5) now in my final hotel of this trip and straight to bed - very nice and it's where the conference is (the hotel, not my bed!!!).
20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5006 -
Quiet day. Up and at ‘em early.
Nice chat with DD1.
Had an afternoon snoozette.
Peeked at a Christmas gift…to check it was in no way edible 😆
Enjoyed the fairy lights and candles on.
Just enjoyed the peace of today.5 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went out for lunch with my friend in floody town. I chose mussels, which I like a lot but don't eat often enough.
3) Travelled on after lunch to Waitrose. Had a cup of tea then bought some more Christmas presents.
4) Made some decorations from old tomato puree tubes.
5) Cleaned the floors downstairs, which I had been putting off for a few days!

Great decorations Frith
A ferret just wiped out my post, sounds a bit like the dog ate my homework so briefly,
Picked up my last olio for a bit and gave a note of thanks at tis the season.
Cleaning – so much blooming cleaning, but it’s done now, curtains, nets, rugs and managed to get a clothes load in there.
Free custard doughnuts for starters ahem, and pasta bake for dinner.
Fresh bedding, and I’m so sleepy, an earlyish night might be called for.

Back again, it's been a while!
Grey and miserable today, lots of rain and spray on the motorways. Tucked up warm at home now, lovely.
DDoll - many congrats to your daughter, lovely news.
Recent pleasures:
1) Another theatre trip with overnight stay and then a backstage tour the following day and a museum trip. Nice, interesting couple of days away.
2) Parcels piling up when we arrived home. Online shopping certainly makes for an easier life.
3) A bit of 'real life' shopping yesterday, nice when you are just looking with no pressure.
4) Another 2 hour appointment at the dentist this morning, yet more root canal work. The pleasure is it's done and hopefully finished though there is a blocked root he wants to keep an eye on. Starting to wish I'd just had it out and an implant as the implant next to it has caused no trouble whatsoever. Will wait and see what happens.
5) Little fella is singing in a Carol Service this evening, another one in a nearby town tomorrow afternoon and then back to school for his official school Carol Service and Nativity Play tomorrow after school. Busy time for him, we will all be very much in the Christmas mood at the end of that lot, if a little hoarse.
Right, off to drink my cuppa through a straw, be glad when the numbness wears off!
Hope you are having a good day and dodging the rain.6
