very nice frith and very mse
Last 2 days in Thailand and we are in a beautiful hotel in Khon Kaen with a lovely-looking swimming pool and spa etc and we are stuck in the basement running a 2-day workshop on leadership to 30 medical educators. They are lovely so shouldn't complain. Here's my 5 for today
1) tasty breakfast
2) after the workshop (4:15) some of us piled into a minibus and went for a walk round the Bueng Kaen Nakhon Reservoir with lots of dinosaurs dotted round
3) and Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon a stunning temple
4) then back for dinner after which we had some traditional thai music and dancing
5) and we taught them the Gay Gordons using Peyton's 4 steps and chunking (applying medical education to ceilidh dancing :-)20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5005 -

3) I didn't go to the Art Class Christmas dinner (roofer was here) but they managed to find someone else. Today I unexpectedly got my deposit back.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went out with my school friend in floody city. I was vaguely looking for glass candlestick holders and saw just the thing in Homesense, for £1.99!
3) Dropped my friend off then I had a cup of tea in Waitrose. I had a voucher on the app for a free jar of Bonne Maman jam. I use their jars for tea lights and it is good jam.
4) Went in the garden for holly, ivy and rosemary. I already had some mistletoe from my brother. I made an arrangement for the table and one for the kitchen windowsill.
5) Popped to Sainsbury's with smaller son.
6) Had leftover meatballs and sauce with spaghetti for tea.
7) Took a photo of the new candkestick holders and it looks like something from a magazine! This is so rare, I will post it here. 🤣
Like a magazine, I will say: glass door - original (there is a 3cm gap where they dont meet in the middle). Wall light - resprayed in Landrover paint. Jug - charity shop. Candlestick holders - Homesense. Decorations - old tomato puree tubes. Candles - from Ampersand. Chair- taken from a skip!!9 -
Watching Crunch the stray, develop is such a privilege, and today she’s worked out how to get up on and off of our bed!, she hasn’t got the confidence yet to go in with the others but she’s getting there.
I might have forgotten to food plan, so when we went out in the car the plan was to drop into aldi, what actually happened was we reached the queue at the end of the road and it didn’t move, so I checked the post box and popped what we needed to in (a very important form), we turned the car around on the spot and went home again.
So, I got some bits and bobs out of the freezer, and we’ve got some empty shelve space, and I’ve got a I wonder what that will defrost to be package out.
For today
What an awful night, apparently, I didn’t need sleep last night, I wonder why that sometimes happens – a lot.
While DH was out, I went through the bathroom reader collection he has, and managed to find one he didn’t have second hand in theory “as new” for 2.69 delivered, so ordered that up.
Soup for lunch and then popped to the Drs for in injection.
Popped to garden centre for a free tea and coffee, and as they had Cornish pasties available and hot, it would have been rude not to. I was there to find the last bit for DBs hamper, a cake. While we were there, the animals may have acquired some more small tennis balls for a Christmas present.
Thankful that the freezer tetris turned out to be marinaded Costco chops, so I grilled them with some new pots and veg for tea.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Woke up once or twice. At 2am, chatted online with my sister who was feeding the new baby.
2) Went to the local SEND college for a cup of tea and the chef had saved me another 2 tomato puree tubes!
3) Went to the bank in town of my birth then went round the charity shops and bought a replacement milk jug.
4) Waitrose had no Christmas decorations for sale at all. It is only a small branch. Got a few YS bits.
5) Got my prescription from my new pharmacy via my new surgery without a hitch.
6) Back home and did the washing then washed the cat's blanket. Tidied up generally.
7) Took smaller son to Sainsbury's.

Home. 5 mse pleasures for the journey home
1) the end of the 2 days in Khon Kaen went to a restaurant 5 mins from the airport and met up with lovely masters student from last year - lovely catch-up
2) then 2 of them took me to the airport, checked my luggage in and took me back to the restaurant for pudding! (my colleague who is staying on for some holiday was rather shocked to see me!)
3) flight to Bangkok uneventful then my first ever stay in a capsule hotel at the airport (they'd offered me a hotel close to or the capsule in the airport and I thought, why not - it was absolutely fine though probably not for the claustrophobic!)
4) first flight uneventful - watched Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy which i very much enjoyed. Person in front was watching Der Buchspazierer (with English subtitles) and that also looked like my sort of film so I watched that next while I ate my meal - highly recommend - managed some sleep. second flight uneventful but 50 minutes late leaving. watched war of the roses remake (not so good) and tinsel town (should have watched muppet christmas!)) then slept like a log, missing tea.
5) caught 9pm bus home (had we not been late I might have just made the previous bus as they're every 90 minutes but it did mean i could call into Sainsbury's and get a sarnie then costa and get a lovely big cup of tea). gbf picked me up, quick wash and change into nightie (bliss) while he made tea, had a nice chat then bed.
I did of course wake at 2am and again at 4am and again at 6am but got to sleep easily enough except for the last one where my tummy was saying oy where's breakfast (Thailand's 7 hours ahead).
Have a good day everyone.
