5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

1. Had a long wait for the bus and let a friend at work know that I might be a few minutes late. I arrived at work and my room was ready for me with the computer on and coffee in my mug so all I needed to do was pour water into my cup. A good start to the working day.
2. A colleague came for the afternoon and it was lovely seeing her. We normally work in different location. She is great to work with but would like to move away from here.
3. Arrived home and my new plates and bowls had arrived. Not exactly money saving but needed as our ones are old and quite a few are chipped.
4. Had someone round to quote for new doors and windows. The quote was laughable as was twice the price of the quote we received last week!
5. DH went to see his Mum and that's another couple of weeks when I don't need to.
6. Watched Shetland.0 -
That’s a good pal VL
Wednesday pleasures,
Woke up to sunshine, always helps.
Took little dog out to the Brecks and rambled along for an hour or so. Tilly met a new pal, a young black poodle, who was out socialising, gorgeous dog and very well behaved.
Lunch and then little dog & I both had a doze.
Roasted butternut squash for tea with goats cheese for tea, we are down to eating meat just three times a week now.
Caught up on the latest episode of Mum.0 -
Ooooh is Mum back on? We don't have a TV license right now - may need to resurrect it just for that!
1. Crossfit last night was fab - so much fun and I'm getting much fitter.
2. Coaching yesterday was also great. I feel better about something that was weighing me down at work. Hurrah!
3. Lovely neighbour is moving after 12 years (boo) but she's going travelling for a year so I'm 'helping' her clear some of her lovely garden stuff. We're getting an incinerator, garden canes, gooseberry bush (which we gave her 5 years ago!), 2 raspberry canes, rhubarb, strawbs, alpine strawbs, a tub of elephant garlic and loads of herbs. Hurrah for spring and gardens!
4. The increase in light has had a notable effect on my mood.
5. French tonight. Completely unprepared but I always enjoy it.0 -
5 Disaster in the kitchen last eve. Chicken roulette was very nearly destroyed and only saved by fast acting of BoP! While frying up the bitsers, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and chicken, BoP then added the flakes of chili to the pan. One slight pat on the jar to ease out the flakes and all flowed onto the pan! Only quick action by BoP and rinsing off of the whole jar of chili flakes saved the dish. Now imagine if I had not done that, I can tell you I would not be off the John the now! Tum was rubbed. We are out of chili flakes!
4 Woke up and saw we had NZ’d at 92 for 2. Brilliant! Well done our boys! Hang on it was just gone six! BoP will not be updating this! Disaster! And you can keep quite as well &!
3 So no happy Hector with BoP! But I have packed a lunch again of proper foods! Cakes of Jaffa, with salad and cheese. Today, of all days, with sneaky extra of chocolate from Mr Fry. Delight of Turkey!
2 Now as yous lots know, BoPsie is quite good with her hads and has painted our house no end this year, see notes passim. And she’s very ingenious. But the water squirter in the shower has beaten her! It is one where you draw in the water and then squirt! Quite simple, you push plunger down, draw in the water and BoP is your uncle! Not BoPsie, she gets water into the top half of the thing and you know what happens next. You should see the mess!
Oh, and another thing that is a pleasure, that darn Turkey Delicious thing. My word, you’d know you want one as well!
And then yous dollops of BoPiness is over for another day!0 -
1) Lovely trip out this morning to Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey which is a beautiful place to visit in it's own right.
2) At the Abbey they have an exhibition of original William Heath-Robinson artworks some of which are incredibly beautiful and most of which are hilariously funny and wickedly satirical. He was born in 1872 and died in 1944 but his sense of humour would be in vogue today as much as it was then, much giggling done and thoroughly worth the visit.
3) Beautiful lunch in the cafeteria there He Who Knows had mushroom soup and bread (and a very large flapjack, inevitably!) and I had a BBQ Bean Pot with some granary bread which was so delicious I asked for (and got) the recipe.
4) Lovely walk round the village with Cookie in the sun when I got back.
5) Baby lambs with their mums in the fields driving home (us of course, NOT THE LAMBS!).0 -
Long chat with DD1. Much laughter. I miss her for her laughter ( amongst other things) . We have a very similar dry sense of humour.
( as a very nice mummy I have ordered an online supermarket delivery full of nice things for her which she will get in about 5 hours! She thinks it's just hot cross buns and an Easter egg! I had to check she would be in to receive it.)
Dog walk and unexpectedly met up with Haggis' old lady friend when we were out.
Floors swept and washed and washing hung out on the teeny tiny stretch of line. Almost dried. It's pouring with rain now but was dry for most of day.
DD2 & I had opticians and both need new specs. I need to go back tomorrow for a repeat pressure test.
Glad to get home after a very busy, stop, start drive through town.
The niecelys were here for tea. Mase macaroni and a chicken and creamy pasta . Nice cakey things for pud.
Much hilarity when GN answered the phone and kept whoever was cold calling on the line.
My Easter tree is up!0 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) A very difficult day for smaller son so was glad to get him to school after it took me 1 hour 20 minutes to get him in the car. :-(
2) Bigger son was OK and had a practical day.
3) Met my niece and sister at a nearby nursery.
4) Hens OK.
5) Had a quote for a new front door but it is 20 cm shorter than average and (who knows why!) 20 cm wider. This means it would have to be made especially so would be £2300 for composite or £1400 for PVC. That'll have to wait a few years. Then had a plasterer round to quote for plastering between the beams in the kitchen and that was £150.
6) Macaroni and broccoli cheese for tea.0 -
Pleasures for Thursday:
1. Saw my first bee of the year :j
2. Bag of stuff delivered to cs & have started a new bag already :A Also found out that my lovely cs lady, Natalie, is visiting family in Jamaica for a month. She definitely deserves a rest as she was looking very frazzled the last time I saw her
3. Used my new toy - a V*x :j:):T. Wish we’d got one years ago  It really surprised me that I was sooo happy when I emptied the dirty water. It was black:eek: Mind you it would be - have only vacuumed for 19 years! Sad to say, I think using the V*x will be my new favourite hobbyEvery month at least, especially if I can get rid of more furniture & declutter more boxes of stuff:)
4. Takeaway for dinner, with enough for tomorrow :T
5. Reading a new thread, ‘Old style as an escape from the world’ from a new poster Angel_Jenny - apart from the job (I retired almost 7 years ago :j), everything she said struck a chord. However, all the lovely posters have set me on my new path to a Simpler, Clutter free, observant life. Thank you all :T :T

1) Walking my dogs in sunlight (YES SUNLIGHT!), bumping into some friend en-route and catching up with a short chat.
2) Finishing phoning round family to arrange a small get together a the weekend which I'll look forward to.
3) Finding a way to Zizz up a defrosted -previously failed scratch curry, and presenting it as an evening meal with very little effort (an Aldi sauce and some bargain samosas played a part in this).
4) Realising I HAD managed to record part of a series my Husband & I are trying to watch, and settling together to watch it.
5) Enjoying a phone call with my sister and being able to joke together, gossip, express anger & opinions about people affecting a current situation or two, support eachother, and have a serious discussion hammering something out.0 -
