Morning all.
The weather here contimues to be amazing, hotter and sunnier here than Crete where my son has been for the week!
Fab photos, Paulie, not an area I know but it looks lovely and you've been extremely lucky with the weather. Retirement is the best kept secret isn't it?!
Some pleasures:
1) Son and DIL have had a good week away, fly back tonight.
2) Some lovely quality time with the boys while we have been 'in charge'. Panicked a bit last night as the tooth fairy had to pay a visit and appeared to have run out of actual cash, anyway she sorted it and came as per usual. Phew!
3) Lovely lazy afternoons in the garden and then my summerhouse when it gets just too hot. Who'd have thought! Finally accepted the good weather might be here to stay and sorted hanging baskets and tubs.
4) New lawnmower is hubby's latest toy and cuts the grass far better than the old one. Like the hedgecutter and strimmer and power tools, this one works off batteries and does a far better job far quicker than the defunct smelly petrol thing that he insisted on botching together and keeping going to the bitter end before admitting defeat. Reminds me that he was the same with the old hedgecutter til it finally burst into flames and looked like the Olympic torch - and even then he wanted to try to repair it! Anyway, the pleasure is that the lawns look great!
5) Getting ready for our week in Devon, really looking forward to it. We get a day to hand the home reins back to my lad and then we will be packing the car and off for some R & R. Hope the weather down there picks up, it has been cooler and rainy so fingers crossed that passes over and we get some sunshine as per the forecast. Either way it will be lovely to go back and visit old haunts and some new ones.
Right, a coffee in the garden beckons. Hubby is off set building, the boys are at school/college so I am home alone for a while - definitely an additional pleasure though I'll be ready to see them all when they get back and chaos reigns once more!
Enjoy your day whatever you are up to.

Hello…windows open for a wee breeze this evening. Oooft it’s been warm.Up early and out early. Down at CP for 8am lovely walk then lovely swim. Picked up two reclining deck chairs for free…oh my goodness you should have seen me trying to get them in my wee car! They had to share the back seat with the dog 😆
And home… wee washing on to wash swimsuit and towel and a few other bits. Dried in no time.
Did the bits of work that I needed to do.
Moved the garden furniture around. Far too hot for that!Friends and family for Tuesday Tea…salad, chicken, sausages and chips! And crusty bread… a free for all. Then fruit and/or jam doughnut…let’s say all the doughnuts were eaten and friend took home the left over chopped fruit. Nice evening of chatter and laughter as always. They sat on the new to me garden chairs whilst I got dinner prepped.
Then they all left and I did my lovely to see you…goodbye sigh! And tidied up.Bit more worky stuff done.6 -
Pleasures for Last few days
1. Seeing DS2 smile when he tried para surfing - amazing activity supported by Uk coaches.
2. Nice couple of days in Bournemouth area for the above event.
3. Greetings from little dog on return
4. The lovely sunshine.
5. Back to work today, too many emails only a few hours - great to see work colleagues.
6. Shoulder a bit sore as different movement using a mouse - pleasure now on a few days off to rest a bit.4 -
For the last couple of days,
Hot sunshine, bit too hot at times but the cottage stays relatively cool so can at least retreat inside.
Morning spent with my lovely friend at the local nursery and plants purchased, hardy fuchsias, couple of hostas for a shady spot and some dianthus which were on offer. My friend kindly treated me to lunch and we sat outside.
So many birds coming down to drink and bathe, it’s being topped up every day.
The barn my girlie lives in also stays relatively cool so she’s happy to come in and munch on hay.
The full moon rising, all pink in the reflection of the sun on the other side of the world.
Walking around the garden early in the morning, my favourite time.
Another trip, this time to GC in village, took advantage of half price terracotta pots and also found a stone frog to sit in water feature, oh and bird seed, always bird seed!
We’ve had no rain and the ground is very hard so applied hoof oil to girlie’s feet to condition, always tickles me that it’s called Kevin Bacon and that actor’s association with Footloose!

Quick pleasures for yesterday (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep, despite the heat.
2) Spent six hours writing a CV (I've never had one before) and covering letter for an excellent job I will apply for. We will go and have a sneaky look round tomorrow before I apply.
3) Sunny all day so I washed smaller son's bedding plus both sofa throws to dry outside.
4) Meatballs and spaghetti for tea.
5) I phoned my school friend.4 -
Frith, good luck
For the last few days
A nice day, with a mix of garden tidying and reading in the garden with some lemon on my hair.
Then deep conditioning hair to make up for the lemon and sitting in the shade with a cuppa and wet hair.
Grilled bacon for brekkie, but not so sure if it worked on jalapeño bread, in fact not sure what works on that bread. Leftover sausage in a roll for lunch and hm one bowl chilli for tea.
Chuckled away at Spies in Disguise, as sometimes that’s the level needed, also reading a very easy to read book.
Mum in law has sussed out how to video call and managed to show us the kittens her cat has had at one day old, I’m surprised how big they are in one day!
1-5 We travelled over to MILs, and took her out to run some errands, and admired the kittens, a nice day.
Caught up with DB
Popped to Costco for fuel, and 3 of their offers, also picked up a tray of petunias.
A slice of pizza was a lovely tea.
All the birds making a racket in the bird bath.

caught up on all your pleasures and updates. hugs to all. Back from a fabulous time at Ullapool which included the Feis Rois (Home - Fèis Rois) an absolute feast of ceilidh music. I took my newly acquired accordion having signed up for improving beginners. Too many pleasures to recount so I'll chose 5 things we shared
1) sharing a cottage with my lovely colleague and 3 of her friends, 2 of whom I hadn't met before (they're down in Brighton and we picked them up from Inverness airport)
2) sharing music with so many - I am fine on the right cos I play piano but the buttons on the left have long been a mystery - I am indeed an improving beginner :-)
3) sharing food - cake and coffee / tea at morning and afternoon breaks, 90 minute lunch break gave us time to go back to the cottage for a lovely lunch of dips and salad and very nice bread then a mix of eating out and eating take-outs in the evening alongside concerts and a ceilidh jamming session at the Ceilidh Place
4) sharing stories - much laughter ensued as we recounted 'interesting' episodes in our lives
5) sharing troubles - something we do here too and I count it as an mse pleasure to be able to do so in a supportive and non-judgemental group such as there and hereMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
