@Happycas Congrats on getting your new eye! I had both mine done in a similar way to you about two years ago in a private clinic but through the NHS. I think they were called Spa Medica, and it was totally brilliant. All my life I have been short sighted and needed contacts or glasses to see anything of the world, but they gave me a choice of lens so I chose to be long sighted and now don’t need anything to correct my vision except for occasionally some +1.00 reading glasses from £Land to see small print if I’m tired. It totally transformed my life. (I was completely terrified at the thought before the first op, but honestly - anyone who’s contemplating this - it was a breeze).6

Completely agree re cataract surgery and if you later need laser therapy through the lens ,don’t worry as that’s a doddle too !
we have sun this afternoon and warm sun too
1 makes everything feel better
2 just spent an hour in the garden pottering and didn’t really get breathless
3 happy with what I got done put the rest of my Aldi primroses in ,had to stop after two in the cold last week ,but managed the remaining 10 today .
4 I know most people would have taken half an hour to do what took me one ,but that was much more than recently .
5 lost another 21/2 lb at SW this morning
6 followed by coffee, bacon sandwich and lots of laughter with my usual Sat morning crew .
There haven’t been many lately7 -
Hello
Up early.Out to skinny malinky club. Lost another 1.5lb so happy enough with this.
Home and DD2 picked us up and we went to CP. we saw a deer run across the field next to us. We all had a nice walk .Had to go to B&Q my very least favourite shop! Needed decent sandpaper ( and ooft at the price) but it has done the trick and table top is now sanded! Hurrah! Need to do side bits then I’ll be waxing it and painting the rest.
Got a takeaway for tea and shared it with DD2.
Have a wee bit of work to do. So just going to do that now.8 -
glad the cataract surgery went well @Happycas
1) nice evening yesterday with the usual suspects
2) Parkrun this morning with colleague who is a Ranger guider (Thinking Day Parkrun) - we were joined by another colleague I've not really spoken to much before - she is lovely but not a runner - we walked and talked the course
3) then carrot cake and coffee in the wildlife cafe which I haven't been to for far too long
4) met gbf in MrT so stopped for a coffee with him - they had a pick a stick, 50p each - just realised gbf gave me the pound and I kept the prize! (a lemon muffin)
5) watched the 2nd half of the Calcutta while i did my exercises - very exciting end and Wales have woken up so hoping for a good game when gbf and I go to Murrayfield for the Scotland Wales matchMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for Saturday
1. Another lie in till 9.00 then work at 11 till 11.
2. Busy shift but all done for today.
3. Had Jacket potato & tuna mayo for lunch. We are lucky to have proper ovens at work.
4. Journey home was long due to Police doing a stop - had a Birds Eye view only 2 cars behind the stop.
5. Hot milk and a bit of baileys in it before bed.
Happycas - glad all went well.
Lainey - I will still to my little dog, it’s bad enough cleaning her never mind a horse!6 -
Good morning
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes. And yes, C-J, it was Spa Medica. Very efficient. Obviously good at their job too because Day 2, no pain, no weepiness and definitely improved vision. And breathe!
Watched the last Unforgotten. Didn't see that coming! And definitely need to suspend disbelief somewhat. But still a good series. Will try Virdee next I think.
DD birthday today. 44 years ago today it was snowing! Will take her out for breakfast (DSiL away playing hockey so he'll miss his breakfast!) Then go on to see DS and family. It was DDiL birthday on Friday so we've her present and card to deliver too.
Happy 🌞day everyone

Glad everything went well with your operation HappyCas
For yesterday,
All the C’s for breakfast, coffee, croissant and cricket.
Made a loaf and left it to prove while I was out in the garden. Am a bit late but tackled the rambling rose as it was needing a good prune, fingers crossed it will flower this year. The tête-à-tête are blooming, so cheery.
At the yard, decent afternoon with warmish sunshine so we had a little walk around the farm, birds busy in the hedgerows. Left girlie to her hay and had a chat with friends, most of us will be gone by the end of March and the yard will seem so empty, shame ☹️Listened to the last ten minutes of our match on the way home and we won, probably too little too late but it’s always the hope that kills you.
Loaded nachos for tea, watched a 24hours in A&E which definitely needed the cushion of protection at one point ( open fracture ) then a programme about Fleetwood Mac.6 -
Hello. That’s the rain back on! It’s been a wild and windy and rainy day though the last hour it had brightened up. I sat at my big window reading until the light faded.Early Schmearly. Texts back and forth from DD1 who had been away for the weekend.Chatted to friend on phone for ages.Finished sanding and started painting the table.Got about 2/3 of the first chair painted then thought I’ve had enough of that! But it all looks so much better!
DD2 popped in and dropped of a pup. Picked him up an hour later.Sat and read for first time in ages. Ya know…as library book is due back tomorrow 😆
And just had banana on toast for tea.8 -
HappyCas - that really is great news🌟 and you can now reassure others you may cross paths with. So good to read.👌It's bitter again today, much colder than expected. Doblo's rocking about in the wind and pitch black up on The Gallops as I write:1. Great time among friends in The Alma yesterday, as always crammed for the 6 Nations. & wore her All Black vestments, of course.😁2. All melded wonderfully at this morning's service, from the soft Saltire burr of the 2nd reading from a knowledgeable rugby chap friend, to now-recovered Vicar's address. Glad I told them both. Then usual self- indulgence, singing Adam Laye A-Bounden in 2nd church. Only 3 No More Books from the boxes today.😁3. Into CS to return their bag, loaned last week. V. pleased with bluebirds t-shirt and vest top from the 10p basket.4. Free emporium cappuccino with latest bananas, but again brown and squidgy inside, despite looking+feeling fine, yellow+unbruised. Same 3 times now😬 and there's a limit to how much banana mash can be kept for baking.5. Watching🏉France v Italy on phone up here. Wonderful! Les bleus superbes. Dupont rightly Player of the Match, on for full 80+ minutes. Ben Kayser(Fr), with BOD and Jamie Roberts(W) made a good chat panel too.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Well, I suppose we should put the rough with the smooth... I was invited to a friend's house yesterday for a cup of tea so popped round after the football. Turns out he wanted a relationship (rather than tea). I don't know why I'm so gormless. It was fine but awkward, (after I said no thank you) particularly his crying but we sat very quietly (staring into our cups of tea) and I asked him if he was OK and he said, "oh, yeah, great!" then we laughed quite a lot and I drove home.
The ex who now lives in the SE messaged again with some photos of him and his absolutely stunning girlfriend and I said that was great and what a lovely holiday location they had been to then he invited me round for a lie down. So I said no thank you.
I can only think there is a shortage of hefty, cynical, monosyllabic middle aged women and I'm suddenly in demand.
Anyway!
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to floody city to look at a "new" hoard of coins in an exhibition. Met my sister, her husband and my niece there.
3) Went to the Colombian cafe for lunch (with them).
4) Went to Waitrose for a cup of tea and some venison burgers for smaller son's lunch.
5) Watched some TV.
6) Made shakshuka.
7) Cleaned the kitchen a bit.
8) Smaller son is plane tracking his friend landing in Dubai before taking off again to go to Australia!
