Pleasures for Monday
1. Arrived home from work at 4.20am - but sleep too long into the afternoon so must have needed it.
2. Little dog slept as well apart from a toilet break.
3. A lazy evening caught up on Call the midwife.
4. Leftovers of cottage pie heated in the oven, so tasty.
5. Chat with dd & Dgs x 2 on FaceTime.7 -
That is one handsome chap CJ
For yesterday,
Off to horsey town for a food shop, no friend today and decided not to stop for a coffee because…
The yard had messaged to say that, due to the rotten weather, the horses would be having a duvet day so headed over to see my girl. She had had a spell in the turnout pen and was happy with her hay net so gave her daily meds and a long groom, cosy in the barn with the rain hammering on the roof.
Home for a late lunch and then had a sort through my toiletries stash, some open and obviously not liked were discarded but others moved into basket in bathroom for use.
The bunch of scented narcissus made the cottage smell lovely.
Last in the series of Unforgotten, very good.7 -
Hello. Just got a sink full of dishes to do then bedtime I think!Decent sleep ( by my shoddy standards 😆)
Pup dropped off.Chat with DD1Me and my doggy went to CP. Left here and it was pouring got there and it was dry so we had a nice walk. I saw a squirrel but thank goodness Mr Dog didn’t!And the joy of water having been reconnected ( it’s all drained down for winter to avoid frozen/burst pipes) which meant I could stay a bit longer as I had a flushing loo! Bit of an issue with boiler but the gas chap was on site so he popped in and sorted it and will order a wee knob that had seized. Hoovered. Washed floors. Washed everything actually 😆 because I could !!
Nice drive home and stopped in at supermarket. Got a couple of RTC clematis…one for 99p and the other for 20p and a bunch of RTC orange roses.Home and hello Pup…he’d been and done his walk with his walker.Put fire on.Had a wee sitting upright snoozette!Had friend over for tea so had made a slow cooked chilli with RTC steak pieces. Was nice. With rice and salad.Found TimTams ( Australian biscuits) in tesco so that was for pudding.
Lovely evening of chatter and laughter.7 -
We are both very nervous about Fuses exploratory ultrasound this week, consequently we aren’t getting what we want done, but we are enjoying time with Fuse.
1 The house is clean ish again, various wash loads again, looked at the weather hoping for drying weather very soon given the energy bills now.
2 Salad for lunch, prawn stir fry for dinner, a bit of a change in how we cook as our oven is either dead or in it’s last throws it can’t make its mind up, I’m not sure if there is such a thing as second hand working ovens, I’m having a nose on FB Marketplace but blimey don’t get me wrong I’m not looking for new, but I do expect someone selling to have at least made the effort to clean it up. I mean the shelves from the maybe dead oven are currently in a cleaning solution as I saw what they were like while dh had the oven in pieces. That and if it’s dead we are likely to save them for useful metal bits.
3 I started going through the seed packets under the yearly delusion that I can grow things, I’m feeling ambitious this year, but lacking skill and over run with slugs so I’ll just give it a go.
4 The house is cosy.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the 1 to 1 redundancy meeting at work and corrected a typo in the equation for working out how many "points" we all have (i.e how close we are to potentially being given another job). I imagine several hundred stores must be wondering why their sums don't add up!
3) Met the odd job man at home and he should get back to me with a quotation for the garage roof and gutter repairs. He left his paperwork on my car so I had to send him a message to come back!
4) Smaller son is getting closer to starting the rather intensive IT course and has to have a Teams interview on Friday. I phoned up again today to talk to the interviewer herself and told her he had never made a phone call in his life...
5) Went to the cafe where he had been pencilled in as a volunteer as he won't be able to do that now. Spoke to his former TA at length, then another customer about having a Reform councillor here then a Ukrainian lady came in so I Google translated about the coffee morning on Fridays.
6) Watched our football team. 2 new players this week and they had a good match and won 2-0 !6 -
1. Just now returning from feeding🏉Seniors, stopped at MrT and mob. rang. Amazingly found self speaking with P in Spain. Lovely long chat and catch-up with them.
2. & was tonight reimbursed £10 for last week's Food Warehouse shopping on someone's behalf.
3. Books donated to Town of Horse emporium community shelf and some very rtc own brand chocolate hot cross buns taken. Will pass them on tmrw.
4. Oh dear! Food Warehouse almond fingers are suddenly half price @50p, then, with Tuesday 10% discount, became only 45p.👏 Had to then test-drive one with free emporium cappuccino.😋 Yum.😁
5. No rain today and not so cold. Only 3 layers on.

Pleasures for Tuesday
1. The sunshine although cold was lovely
2. washing part dried on line
3. Little doggy has been groomed and looks very white and clean.
4. Took back to dealers due to scratch on windscreen, positives are the young salesman tried his best to help but the manager said they can’t replace it so will follow up with a complaint to head office.
5. Dinner/tea sausages, mash & onion gravy with tender-stem broccoli.8 -
Hello again.
Strange weather - one side of the house has sun and blue skies, the other grey skies and rain on the windows. Hmm...
Some pleasures:
1) Text from oldest grandson from Uni city asking if we would be 'anywhere near on Tuesday' to give him a lift home with a load of stuff. Hadn't planned to be but easily arranged so we had a day mooching round where we used to live before picking him up after Uni. Nice to have a visit but very happy to get home to where we live now but have to admit we don't have as lovely a bookshop here as the one we had tea and delicious cake in, one of my favourite places and thankfully not turned into a mobile phone shop.
2) Said grandson's 19th birthday today. Where have those years gone?! But then again I can't remember life without him. Doting grandma? Me? He has to bend down now so I can snuggle his neck back but, bless him, he does it so patiently, awww...
3) We, too, had sausages and mash for tea with braised red cabbage, sprouts and green beans. Yummy. A long day so had tea in our jarmers in front catching up on the Monday quizzes. Certainly hit the spot.
4) Busy week after last week in the slow lane, enjoy the mixing and matching.
5) Made arrangements with oldest brother for a couple of days away as part of my next week's birthday celebrations. We were going to go on our own as very last minute in the planning but on the spur of the moment asked if they would like to come and got a resounding affirmative so that will make it extra-special. The joys of us all being retired!
Right, a quick coffee then off to collect a shopping order. Finally found some trousers that fit properly so ordered a second pair.
Have a good day, you might need your sunglasses AND an umbrella if you have weather like ours!5 -
For yesterday,
Like others have said we had a good amount of sunshine and there was a definite whiff of approaching spring in the air.
Busy with chores and it was nice to have the windows open.
Into Uni City for a haircut, avoiding the potholes as I went, roads around Cambridge are awful!
Stuck a couple of spuds in the oven when I got home, easy tea with cheese and HM slaw.
Clear night and out in my PJ’s to see the planets align, think I was too late for all of them but always good to stargaze. Miss my little pal who would wander around the garden with me ❤️
